Personally I just gave it all up. I don't care about low numbers, I don't care they're not merging US/EU server lists or servers, I simply don't care anymore!
If there HAD been more players I'd been playing all xmas and I'd be running yet another ITF today as well, but I gave up and realized, to my big surprise really, that...
...no, for the first time evaah, I don't miss anything about the game.
Seeing that GR seems so be a looong way from deployment I'm not even sure I'm gonna bother with that either. For me it's just another example of NC wasting a perfectly good(or promising) game. Content? Too late! Gfx update? Too late! Marketting? Huh, what's that? They haven't even run any of the semi-fun events they used to do (Siren's invasion, PD RSP torneys etc).
I think... THINK I still would enjoy some total awesome 8 man destruction, but I don't miss it anymore and I've totally given up on NC. They! Just! Don't! Get! It!
Seeing that another game is more than a year away, there still is a small chance you'll see me moan some more, but I'm a bit busy mining in my retriever on a server with 50.000 people and kicking som rat's behind in my Vexor. Best 5 I've ever spent... well, on Steam anyway! :-)

Anyway i have been all for ANY sort of merger since the demise of Brighton.
I feel that what is now left of the EU population is not worth preserving in any way shape or form, so **** it, merge us into a low pop US server, or better still offer us EU> US transfers.
Sadly however i have had 0 faith in this company for a long time regarding their EU plans and i am quite sure they will continue in the usual way.
And they can bring out as many expansion packs as they like, an empty server is an empty server, what on earth is the point of buying an EU version of GR without some reasurance of longevity?
The time of "oh server mergers look bad for games" is well and truely over, so is the old bollox about "well there are still enough subscribers" , subscribers dont fill servers, they are just people stupid enough to pay for a game they no longer play, like me.
Wake and smell the coffee NC. Tell whats left of your loyal customers whats going to happen, silence is not golden, its bollox.

I've been on the Freedom server for 63 months, done plenty of RPing, plenty of great PuGs, met and played with plenty of normal, rational, intelligent, mature non-farming, non-PLing human beings. Freedom has the highest population, so yes it's got the most dickheads, quite possibly, but it's easy to spot and avoid them if you aren't a total mong, and it's also got loads and loads of good people on it too.

Actually I know there are a good number of players on some US servers who'd love a chance to play on Defiant!
The most likely consequence would be a number of servers would have numbers up and down over a period of a couple of weeks and then things would find their natural level.
