Final map of the LGTF really bugged.

As you enter the final room and look around, huge parts of the geometry disappear and reapper; the mothership bottom, the catwalks, the portal, everything. From several angles you can't see any of the geometry at all, just the Rikti in the room. Here are a few example screenshots:

This has been broken for a very long time. Also, the cutscenes are missing all the emotes; they just say their text while standing there.
I have gotten this bug ever since september of 2008. I have pretty much stopped reporting bugs because they almost never get fixed unless its an exploit. Just look at the still bugged Seer Marino mission.

I still send a /bug report every time I do that mission, but then I may not be entirely sane (because it's definitely not due to optimism ).

I'll look into why the animations for Rikti aren't playing. Pretty sure I know what's going on there. As for the rest, I'll pass it along to the environment team.

Thanks to Leandro for sending me a PM about this thread.
There's a communication issue if this turns out to be the first time the Environment Team has heard of it. We have 8 people /bug it every time we run an LGTF. I'm looking at you QA/QC & Support Desk.

Yeah they suck and there is no excuse at this point for all the bugs we still have in this game that even go back to issue 1. I am almost too embarrased to send out a trial for this game because of all the obvious bugs we still have at this point.

Maybe we should post about the lag on the ITF and PM 'em.

Yah, ITF lag, Ship Raid lag have gotten markedly worse as the patches have rolled in. Granted I like pushing the envelope of the engine but if any Redname wishes to tag along for a ride one of these days I'd be more than happy to show them the big red marks all over the netgraph on ITF or a Ship Raid.

As far as the LGtf final room is concerned generally the TF doesn't last long enough for me to really be concerned about it. Reported the bug when it came out but I figured it was logged and nothing else.

Ummmm, okay. Not sure what posts those are. I definitely wonder if you're taking me for someone else, or do you take valid criticism as being a dev hater?

I would think I like myself and my wife, but if either of us writes something badly, I'm going to point it out (nicely... I don't know what I've posted that isn't at worst constructive criticism, unless I was joking/sarcastic). Same thing for the devs, I like them, but I am going to critique things that need it.

Longstanding bugs, well, bug me. They bug me even more when it sounds like someone doesn't know about it. Priorities are priorities, but if something has been on the bug list for over a year, that is an issue to me. I understand when new crops of bugs come up with new issues... I just don't like seeing them sit for ages.

Heck, even fixed bugs can stick around. BAB fixed the issues with Shields preventing the new custom animations that he made back in November, and it's still not in the game. That's bothersome as well.

But anyway, if all that is being overly critical and putting me in the "dev hater" category to you... I think you need to check your own position.

I've experienced this bug also, on the mission you mention Zaran.

I was doing flashback arcs and chose the arc "The Strange Case of Benjamin Decker".

The bug is specific to the exact same map and end room as what Leandro specified in his OP.

Here are some screenies of what I saw.
This room is very buggy graphics-wise.

I've played CoH under Windows (for a few years) and under Linux (for the last year), and so far I notice no significant difference between the two.

With the ITF and LGTF being so popular among players, I think the devs probably figure there aren't any significant bugs to fix.

Ironically, if people weren't playing the ITF and LGTF, I think the response might be that there's no point in fixing a bug for content that nobody plays.

You also go to this room for the last mission in Dark Watcher's arc, which is the very end of the Vanguard story arcs. As someone said earlier in this thread, the most annoying thing probably is that the mobs keep disappearing. In that final mission, you fight Hro'Dhotz, Nemesis, and great big waves of ambushes. It wasn't so bad on my Scrapper who wanted them all up close, but my Blaster that was trying to take things out before they got to him had a harder time.

There's also the whole "looks really bad" issue with it. Can't think of any other uses of this room, but that's a lot. Great room, really spooky to be under the mothership and all, but I want it working again, please!

There's a fairly comprehensive list of differences here and here.

All I can say is that I don't experience any differences. Well, I do have compatible cursors turned on, but that's about the extent of it.

I'm using an ATI 3300 IGP with WINE 1.01 on Ubuntu 8.10. I've not updated WINE or graphics drivers in about a year, but things are running smoothly so why mess with it?

I'd like to note that this issue also occurs in the Shadow Shard maps given out by Technician Naylor in City of Villains. Missions like "Last Stand on Mole Point Bravo" or "Secure Longbow base in an alternate dimension" especially notable anytime you have to escort a hostage back to that little rock door and into the portal room as you get to slowly enjoy the flashing scenery.

(The mobs seem to walk extra slow, especially that darn CoT boss you are escorting who says something like, "This is the most incompetent kidnapping ever!" every time you walk more than 10 feet from him! More time to rotate the camera and make things appear and disappear.)
