Server Transfers: Where are you going?

Moved about all of mine to Virtue and Freedom for SG/VG purposes ( Made my own based on all my toons ) and have no desire to move back to Liberty where I started . Nuff said

Moved several to Freedom and will move the rest on Liberty over to Virtue as my Freedom slots are full.

And for the haters, if you visit Freedom or Virtue, try other zones besides Atlas, ok? And if you hate the farming broadcasts on Perigrine that starts up later in the night on Freedom, go to Perigrine 2, there's always a second instance when the PL craziness is going on.

Or, if you're just full of hate, there ya go.

Quick question on this though, can someone refresh my memory on how much longer we have the free server transfers? I'm thinking it was through the end of January but I don't remember.
The announcement said through Jan 31.

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

Hey, I'd like to thank everyone for posting their ideas.

I had not known Freedom was going to be so popular with PVPers. Personally, I NEVER pvp, but that's just me. I've found it to be a very nice server with few problems.

Perhaps it's just the rose colored glasses of past vision, but I remember much better days on all the servers, where getting a team was a simple matter of saying you wanted one in any zone in the game and having several offers show up. Compared to when I started COH/COV, the current servers seem almost deserted.

I am hoping that these free transfers will pick things up.

I also wanted to free up some spaces for Going Rogue when it comes out, so again, this was handy. I hate trying to decide which toon to delete or trying to budget a new character slot. (I'm on disability and have a limited income for playing these silly games).

According to some silly artical I read, MMORPG's are destroying internet porn. Yay MMORPG's! (OK, that was non sequeter, but I had to mention it, I've been bursting ever since I read it. LOL.)

I haven't move any permanent character - just used the transfers to move items around. I may use it to force a name change, but that's about it.

I've most recently been playing on Freedom, and while it is a nice change of pace, and I've really enjoyed playing with the people in our SG/VG's, it is definitely not home.

(I stayed on Liberty and Infinity because they are my first two servers, and after filling up Virtue, Freedom, and Guardian, I didn't want to move what I had left there just to join another potentially low population server.)

So, where are people going? Are you staying there or going back? Any speculation on why they decided to give free server transfers? I think it's a great idea, naturally.
I used all my free transfer tokens and moved all my characters off off Triumph and Protector (about 20) to Virtue. Virtue has a much larger population, second only to Freedom I believe. They average around 600 on a /search, compared to P and T's average of about 250. They also have a large RP base in which I'm dabbling.

I moved one hero to Virtue. And I think I'm done. The funny thing is I'm seeing new folks on Triumph now so I'm going to have to hold my cries of doooooooooom! in hold now. Sigh.

Eh, I wasn't all that jazzed about the gift, as all I really need is more slots on my home server, Victory. I don't really care to play anywhere else... it has a good enough population, I know everyone, and I pretty much like them all.

Since the devs haven't said if we're getting more slots with Going Rogue, I made the hard choice to move a couple characters off Victory so I would have room for two characters to play through that from the start. Luckily, I already knew Champion was fun from Tanker Tuesdays, so I have a little personal SG there for when I feel like running those heroes.

No desire to play on Virtue or Freedom... it's all the same on any server, and playing elsewhere helps contain the notion that the other servers don't have people (it's not true, people just aren't looking). Quite funny situation, that... people leaving "smaller" servers perpetuates the problems I see people posting about. Not finding people, having too many people on Virtue and Freedom for special events. Heh.

Nothing against those servers, I just like people playing everywhere and follow through on that myself.

Yeah, it's called a "self fulfilling prophecy". From all those that can't even conjure up enough energy to try to form their own team.

With SuperSideKicking, I really see no excuse for this anymore, as a team can be composed of anyone at any level.

Anyone that can't find a team on a "low population" server just isn't trying.

By the way, my challenge still stands.

Try playing at 3 AM on anything other than Virtue or Freedom.

Actually, I've heard one of the other servers has something of an Aussie population, which therefore plays at 3 AM, does anyone remember which one that is? I think it was Justice...

This. Or try being a European playing on any other server than Virtue or Freedom on Euro hours :-)

Moved a Corr from Champion to Virtue, and that's about it.

I like Virtue for the population, but this is something that goes beyond the issue of finding teams. I've never liked the small-town feel of other servers, where everyone seems to know everyone else; it gives rise to a sort of parochial narrow-mindedness that I'm not a fan of. Virtue is like this vast, cosmopolitan city that never sleeps. There's something going on somewhere all the time. The crowds of players milling about and the occasional impromptu RP lend it a festive air. You can stay with your friends if you want to, go out and meet new people or take a walk and lose yourself in the crowds of strangers. Freaky things happen in the dark underbelly of Pocket D. There are rumors of alligators in the sewers. Up in their skyscrapers, the elite contemplate the next Dropship Hunt or single-team Mothership raid or solo ITF. Hordes of idiots in Atlas Park provide amusement for the cynical. People here chew glass and piss smaller pieces of glass.

It is beautiful.

Correct. In the wee hours of the morning (US time) Justice jumps up to 3rd place, and I've seen it in second a few times.

As far as the OP's question is concerned, I'm not going anywhere. I like Pinnacle too much to leave. I did move some of my seldom played characters that I didn't have the heart to delete to Virtue though.

I did that mostly to clear up some space on Pinnacle, since I just recently got my first villain 50 and wanted space for 3 VEATS, Widow, Bane, and Crab. The Widow I can use dual builds for to try both sides, but the Bane and Crab I wanted to be separate characters.

I'm also a horrible altoholic and the ability to move for free instead of deleting was greatly appreciated.

I have moved a few characters around, mostly to consolidate my favorite characters on the servers I spend the most time on, mostly Guardian and Pinnacle. I was able to move my favorite Tank and my highest Warshade to Guardian. Lesser played characters have been moved to servers where I have an SG but spend less time, like Protector and Triumph.

I have a few characters on Freedom that I moved off. I use Freedom to level up characters (not power level, but level in teams) when my usual group of buddies are not on. I moved my Ill/Storm to Pinnacle and my highest level Warshade to Guardian.

Since I had a few transfers left, I have used a couple to transfer rare IOs from one server to a character on another server who needed them. Then I deleted the carrier.

I felt that this was a nice Christmas Present from the Devs. There were several characters I really wanted to move, but didn't want to spend the money.

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)
