So since the feedback I've gotten on my Monday night raids has been so good, I'm going to go ahead and make it a regular thing. We'll raid Hami hero side at 9:00pm eastern (click here to find out when that is where you live) on Monday nights.

If you'd like to help out or lead a team, contact me in game or send me a PM. Thanks all!

I hope to be there! Debating bringing in Agent Blake this time (my dark/psi def), coz I've never had her along on a Hami raid...

Any tips/tricks that a def should know doing a Hami Raid?

Dark Defenders are very helpful at raids because of their mass rez. Your job would be to follow the Green Team leader and follow directions.

Thanks to everyone who came out to tonight's raid, and particularly Enri, Jenny Lewis, and Hard Rock One for leading teams. We were doing ok until the last bloom, and HRO had one tank get defeated, and another DC. It all kind of went to hell in a handbasket after that, but we managed to regroup, rebuff, and finish with no problem. Thank you all so much for hanging in there and being such good sports about the whole thing!

So, now I need to know from you guys if you like doing no retreat or not. It's my personal favorite, but I'm not inflexible.

One thing we need to start doing is regular EoE farming. I'm thinking Fridays at 6pm eastern. Tonight's raid completely wiped me out of EoEs, so I need some myself.

If this is good for the majority of you, I'll make a separate post about it to get the attention of others.

Again, thanks everyone!

Although I wasn't able to attend the raid (connection is sucking for some reason), I personally prefer no retreat raids.

They are faster and they also rely upon coordination and everyone thinking on their toes. It's the same reason why I like speed TFs, though it's not always what everyone else enjoys.

I too greatly enjoy and prefer the non-retreat raids. While I don't have a problem with retreat-style, the non-retreats are more challenging and the risk makes it far more exciting IMO. And heck...even though things went a bit sour during the third mito spawn, we were able to pull back, regroup and still kick Hami's gelatin bootie! I say continue making the attempt at non-retreat for Monday raids and save the retreats when things go really bad (like tonight).

I'll also try my best to make EoE farming...should at least be able to make it over the near term since my afternoons are open for now.

No retreat. We always can fallback to retreat if something doesn't work.

Petrifying Gaze should be stacked as a hold on greens.

Shadow fall grants resistance to fear, which the blue mitos like to cast a lot of.

Another great tip for /darks: Howling Twilight can use an oil slick to target off of to rez a group. So if there is a retreat and we need to raise the dead, ask if someone can drop an oil slick on the mound of dead bodies.

I'm sorry I missed this raid! Quat helped me get my ill/rad controller the last bub to 45 so I could make it; I went to grab some food, got logged out, and couldn't get back into the Hive. (And thanks to Q for the assist.)

Dammit.

Maybe next week.

I used to fiddle with my back feet music for a black onyx. My entire room absorbed every echo. The music was . . . thud like. The music was . . . thud like. I usually played such things as rough-neck and thug. Opaque melodies that would bug most people. Music from the other side of the fence.

Hello, Arwen. I was a member of your team, and boy was that fun!
I would just like to say that my first Hami raid was very fascinating; thank-you for leading us so well.
I think of a non-retreat run of being more exciting and therefore just what I am looking for in a raid!

In addition to these, HT is also a strong -Regen debuff, a-la Lingering Radiation. This is useful to cast on Hamidon in the late stages of beat-down phases before everyone retreats, especially since it's common for too many people to leave before the new bloom.

In a no-retreat raid I usually cast it early instead (or not at all before the first bloom) so I can have the AoE rez in reserve in case the bloom splatters the assembled raiders. HT has turned around more disastrous wipe outs than I can remember.

It's possible to cast Tar Patch on underneath even high mitos, because they're actually spawning on small, invisible platforms. Look for the visuals for holds and immobilizes and try to target the placement at the bottom of those effects. If you can't see any such effects, a Dark/Psi can provide their own with Subdue. -DR debuffs on the green mitos is sometimes key to defeating them without help from the Scrapper team - especially the high ones.

Just count on many mito aggro if you use it to rez a wipe. It's pretty common for a HT rezzer to get face planted right after using it.

It does depend on the nature of the wipe. If most of the yellows are loose, I rarely even bother trying to rez, because they'll just re-splatter everyone... and me. In fact you can be lucky to live long enough to rez in such situations. (I've even tried it under EoE protections, but the stacked mez and KB get out of hand fast. Plus, 75% DR sounds like a lot until you start receiving like 2000 damage every few seconds.)

If some of the Tankers are still kicking and taunting things, I can usually get away with dive bomb rezzing the biggest pile of orange names I can find, then running away as fast as I can. Live to rez another day, and all that.

I'm good with either style. I think I liked the no retreat a little better, but coming from the non-Granite side of the Taunt team, we need to have plenty (probably around 8 or more per non Stone Tank, depending on positioning and Primary Power Set) of EoE's at the start of the Raid. Retreat raiding gives us that window between spawns to redistribute EoE's.

May have been a fluke but it seemed like EoE drops were extremely sparse during the monster hunt last time.

I'm thinking about transferring a Stone Tank from another server and leveling him up here...

Thanks ArwenDarkblade, Team Leaders and all Raiders for a fun raid. See you at the next one!

I'm for the no-retreat style. My only suggestion to you, Arwen, is a different timing on your buffs and tanks out cues while in the goo.

Also, while I disagree with NM on on there being a granite/no-granite tank divide, I agree that his point regarding EoEs is very apt.

Since Hami's damage is unresistable and always hits, I'm not understanding the argument that Granite Tanks somehow handle it better. Care to explain?

I agree, however, with the distribution of EoE, which is why I'm offering to lead EoE farming nights, and why I have been asking folks to show up with some before hand (if they can, of course).

I know I was a bit late with the buffs/Tanks out! call and will give more time next time. I had an inordinate amount of tells and had a new raider on my team. I'm going to start directing more of that kind of stuff to Phantom (who brings Nurseferatu to the raids) so I can watch Hami better. Again, I appreciate everyone's patience and feedback as I get back in the saddle.

A question - during the Hami phase, couldn't the Tanks redistribute EoE then? It might be hard on the 75% bloom, as it comes fast, but might work for the others.

There is none. Stone tanks get great regen with Rooted, but that's it. Actually granite may be worse because of the -recharge, so I think most of it is psychological.

I am all in favor of delegating such things to other people - just make sure they're designated ahead of time so people don't clutter Request if they see someone like Phantom speaking in there.

I'm also a fan of team leaders using their own initiative to instruct their team members if they feel the raid leader is slow on the calls.

Yes and at the 75% bloom it shouldn't be that critical. Of course, there's a balancing act of hami health dropping and time for people to find and redistrubute the EoEs - especially as tanks should be leaving at around 85%, 60%, 35% and AoE buffs need to go off before they leave.

Honestly, there is probably no good reason for the yellow team tanks to hit Hammy more than once.

I think they should get there assigned mito, run in at the appointed 20 second threshold, taunt, mark their spot on the map, help with greens and blues, and then go back to their marked spot. The mitos get a little moved about on respawns, but that should put them fairly close.

If they ignored Hammy until the last mito wave was gone, they would have plenty of time to redistibute EOE or pick some up from another raider. More importantly, they would be in excellent position to taunt immediately upon respawn and thereby keep deaths to a minimum if not outright eliminate them.
