Um...wow.

You're not taking Incinerate or Great Fire Sword?

Is this a leveling build or a build at 50? It it's a leveling build you have to take Fire Sword Circle much,much earlier.

I don't see any reason why you need Temperature Protection.

I'd have to see the data block, but I highly doubt you need Stamina, Consume AND Physical Perfection.

I would really recommend doing a little searching for other people's build ideas on Fire tanks. And look through the guides.

I popped in to check out some info on Fire/Fire and there are two threads!

I just moved my old one with the free server transfer thing and thought I would see what I could do with his build.

The one I worked up in Mids also has Temp protection, stamina, consume, and PP. I really hate running out of end though.

I was thinking of trying to go for +hit points, +regen in the build and am grabbing it in every set possible. I really don't care much about killing stuff (don't care about burn), more worried about making him "tanky".

I just don't understand taking Temperature Protection. Your using an entire power for 10% Cold Protection and 20% Resistance to slow?

On endurance, I just build for it. I took Consume at 49, but honestly I could live without it. And I don't have PP.

As for feeling tanky, my personal preference is to cap defense, either Melee or Smashing/Lethal (the best option, imo).

I seriously haven't played the character in about 4 years....I've forgotten anything I may have once known about the set. (Anyone want me to tank for them with this character? lol.....)

I'll look around for ways to cap melee....I like the sound of that.

I would recommend capping S/L instead. Smashing/Lethal is combined in a large majority of attacks you will face, even ones that you wouldn't think of, like fire attacks and many others.

Besides, since they're joined at the hip you'll end up almost capping Melee along with it.

Yours gets pretty close to the cap for melee too I see!

I gave it a quick try myself just now but didn't really get close on defense. I've got more recharge and more regen and HP. Your healing flames scares me a little. Do you find that the capped defenses make the extra regen unnecessary?

I appreciate your input on this, I am not any good at doing mids as of yet. I think I will try the last one if u don't mind.

With capped S/L defense and high S/L resistance, I very rarely even use Healing Flames. You go so long between needing a heal that you could really just depend on inspirations if you really tried.

Although I should mention that Burn also provides me with another layer of mitigation (and the random stun in Stalagmites to a much lesser extent). Without Burn you will take a bit more consistent damage, as they won't be running back and forth.

It takes a lot of cash and time but you can get a fire tank to the s/l softcap. I've got one that is currently sitting at 19 +% defense to s/l and 70% + resist s/l. Eventually he'll be sitting over 30% def. s/l. He does fine in most situations. Getting Tough and Weave has helped him tremendously. I was running +0x8 Malta and Nemesis missions solo and rarely had to use inspies or healing flames.

Before you can get a S/L capped Def build a Fire/ tank lives or dies by the performance of Healing Flames.Temp Protection gives a nice %20 slow resist combined w/ Winters Gift %20 slow resist IO (which is easy to come by this time of year)makes sure HF is always up when you need it.Temp Prot is also a nice place to put another 5 reactive armors for the S/L def.

Quick correction--the S/L defense bonus in Reactive Armor is the 4 slot bonus, not the 5 slot. I wouldn't recommend anyone looking for typed defense bonuses 5 slot RA for the measly .63% F/C def bonus it gives.

Hi LSK,

I see that you're going for high Melee Defense, which I did on my Fire/Em (I think I got him over 33%), but on my Fire/Fire it seems that 25% is pretty good (most likely do to the amount of damage it pumps out. It defeats whole mobs much faster than my Fire/Em). You can build for higher number either for S/L or Melee but it will require more tweaking than I've done.

Here's a few of things I would do differently.

Blazing Aura really needs 5-6 slots for it to come into it's own. I usually go 6 and use Multistrike. Depending on the toon I'll also use 2 Scirocco's (for the Regen) then frankenslot the others. Looking for high End Reduction, Damage and Accuracy. Multistrike fits this criteria to the tea.

I left Burn out of my build. I have it on some toons, basically toons with a secondary that can assist in keeping mobs in the Burn Patch (SM, IM, Axe, maybe Mace-haven't tried it yet- and SS) otherwise I leave it out. Largely it's a player choice/toon concept power now. You can also use it for damage mitigation, but beware in teaming. Not all players know how to play with a "Burn Tank". If you take Burn look to six slot it for Damage and Recharge (if you can get the equivalent for fewer slots by frankenslotting or HOs then do that). Obliteration fits well here, of course depending on what you're building for so do most of the other sets...but Obliteration is built for high Recharge and Damage.

Fire Tanks really benefit from more recharge. You can either go that direction (include Burn in your build if you go this route for damage mitigation) or try to strike a balance between Recharge and Defense). My Fire/Fire/Pyre runs closer to the build I'm posting and is designed for a balance between Defense and Recharge (currently it is semi-retired until I decide what further tweaks I'm going to do and finish my Elect/Fire/Fear Tank).

Possible changes to the build:
GFS, change to Mako's Lowers Melee defense (to around 28%,closer to what I'm doing) increases Ranged.

GFS and Consume, Change GFS to a full set of CI and Consume to Eradication. Increases AoE Defense, maintains Recharge bonus and adds Accuracy.

Consume, reduce to 4 slots use Common IOs, 3 recharge and 1 Accuracy. Gives two slots to use elsewhere. Add one to CJ and put in -20% Slow/Recharge Proc from Winter's Gift. Add the other to Hasten.

Change Tough to Reactive Armor. Gives a little more Melee and Ranged, also Energy and Neg Energy will exceed Ranged and AoE so you should pick up some additional defense there out of Melee.

I'm sure there's more tweaks depending on your play style. This concept has worked well for me. Hope it helps.

Thank i for got about burn and re slotting it. I took out armagadin and added 2 scirocco's for the regain aspec like you mentioned. I am trying for both survivability soloing and teaming with it aswell as hopefully Mo's and Hami if possible. I took burn for 2 reasons first a nice combo I have with burn, and consume, and sword circle. Second it he gets immobile it gets him out of it. But thanks for your info, i just don't know how to slot the 5 to 6 in blazing aura that will work for it. I am still trying to figure out mids lol.

I'm concerned about the current slotting of Blazing Aura. As it is now you have very little Endurance Reduction in the power. Blazing Aura does and incredible amount of DoT for the Endurance used, but does need to be slotted for Endurance Reduction. Right now if you're having Endurance issues, I'd look at Blazing Aura or at least toggle it off when you're not in mobs. Accuracy also helps Blazing Aura not only for damage but to help with Taunting.

With your current Build I'd pull two slots off of Health and add them to Healing Flames. HF is a damage mitigator as it heals damage, all damage, it also provides 20% Toxic per firing which stacks (My Fire Tanks usually run at approximately 60% Toxic Resistance(when toggled to auto). In missions where Toxic damage is and issue I auto toggle HF and go to town). Either slot HF with Doctored Wounds, or Frankenslot it for Recharge and Healing. For Health four slot it and leave your Numina's Proc and Heal, Miracle's Proc and Regenerative Tissue's Proc.

Here's the build I've worked out for my Fire/Axe tanker, very simular to the same things you aguys are shooting for. I'm sitting at 40% S/L defense and 70% S/L resistance and feeling very sturdy. I'm pretty happy with my slotting of blazing aura, I got some good IO bonuses out of 5 slotting it and worked all on accuracy/damage/endurance as it doesn't need recharge. Hope this helps:

LSK, the biggest issue I see with your build is that you have sets with a mix of primarily typed defense (Kinetic Combat, Perfect Zinger) and positional defense (Touch of Death, Obliteration, Gaussian's, Titanium Coating). The result is that you aren't getting the defense levels you could if you stuck to one or the other. Fortunately, Nuclear has given you a good example of slotting for positional defense and Whisky Jack for typed, so I recommend that you decide what you want and follow their lead.

I agree with Nuclear that your BA slotting is a big problem. Like most damage auras it's a very big end user, so I strongly recommend that you slot if for at least 60% end reduction.

Another problem is the fact that you've 6-slotted FS, PS, and Tough. 4 slots will usually more than adequately slot a normal shield toggle like those--the benefit of the additional endurance reduction is trivial compared to what you'd save by properly slotting BA. And you really need those slots for other purposes; in addition to BA, Scorch, Fire Sword and Weave are all underslotted and need an additional slot (or two, in the case of Fire Sword.)

The reason i did it like that is because of the damage buff, I was thinking of switching it out with 2 Scirocco for the extra regain and a Riborsome Exposure. ( the scirocco end reduction ones )

Lol I was working on that problem when u posted this. I think I got it now, I do appreciate your advise.
