Dunno. There are three schools of thought out there:
1. Server X is my home, I ain't leavin'! (Which I certainly respect.)
2. OMG, server X is dead, get me to server Y NAO! (Which I certainly understand.)
3. Grrr, Server X is dead, I want to transfer to Y, but my mom won't gimme her CC to transfer my 20 toons! (Which makes me snicker a little.)
I think 1 and 2 are the major camps out there; and as such, camp 2 (which would have wanted to transfer) probably did so already over the last year or so. In terms of raw benefit for this holiday transfer gift, I think it'll be group 3 who'll take the most advantage of it, at least for transferring a few toons to test the waters.
I'll probably exercise the transfer and move Dr. Turg around for the holidays to say hi to everyone.

Now this allows me to transfer some old characters back to Freedom so I can enjoy them again (or milk them of all the inf I've poured into them!)
EDIT: I have my own CC :P, was just too cheap to blow 60 extra dollars to transfer a few characters
Transferred 5 or so characters from Justice and Infinity today - I already had a solid starting base here (been here more or less since I13) but I wanted to move a few PvP and farm toons over while I had the chance. I'll still stick to Justice when I'm looking to PvE, though, because that's where my friends are at.

I think the game is best served with the servers all being closer to equal in size. NOT equal, but closer.

Its not hard to see that at least a large population of pvp'rs are going to be xfering over, some PvE'rs *Might* leave. Maybe.

I thought about transferring some level 50s that I don't play just to make room for new characters. All my slots are full and I will want some new characters once GR comes out.
I have a question for all of you transfer-aholics...since I have never transferred any chars...
Do you need an open character slot for the transfer...meaning does it use up any existing open slots that you might have? (I'm not talking about max full character slots).

I just transfered a couple of moderately high chars from Virtue (from my days dabbling with in-game RP not Forum RP) over to Freedom. I honestly don't know why anyone would leave Freedom. We've got a large and friendly community afterall.

2. Buy five slots, just cuz. GR's coming around, and you'll want some buffer for new builds.

I happily pulling the one Freedom character I care about off to Triumph, after moving several off of Triumph to another server (destination still uncertain, still discussing with friends).
I have no ill will to freedom, I just don't like the 'atmospshere' of the server.

I'm thinking hard about deleting or moving someone so I can move Radiant Flame Imp back off Pinnacle. I figure she might get more play here on Freedom now that that version of the static team is done.

I have played on Champion server for just over 3 years. During which time I've made a lot of friends and built up a nice sg base with a ton of prestige. It's hard to walk away from all that to another server. With the release of I-13 and pretty much every issue and patch since, this game been one nerf after another. People get very frustrated when they spend their time to level up and IO a character only to watch it's performance be diminished by a new nerf, in several cases making the toon no longer fun to play. This has caused and continues to cause population decreases across the servers. Champion got to a point where you either ran PvE solo most of the time or stood around in one of the PvP zones for hours waiting for anyone to PvP with. I got to a point where I barely logged into the game at all and was on the brink of discontinuing both of my accounts. Why give more money by paying for server transfers to the same people responsible for the population decline? I couldn't justify that. With this free server transfer, I moved toons from both of my accounts over to Freedom and started over with a base. This saved me from dropping my accounts because Freedom is like the game used to be when I fell in love with it years ago. It's easy to find teams for whatever you want to do. The zones are always full and active. I posted a thread a while back about server consolidation that met with many negative comments. Maybe this is the Dev's way of giving us the ability to consolidate the servers ourselves. It could also be a sign that game population has dropped to a point that the end may be near. Either way, I'm glad they did it.
I moved two MM's over that I was going to move later for GR. Saved me some cash.
