Clear Mind (And those like it)

For the love of cookies make this an AOE buff already, like RA and Regen. I've been asking since a year into the game, came back a few months ago and still its not an AOE buff.

Is it game breaking? Uh no. It makes things simple, easy, instead of having to click on every freaking person to buff them.

And if a DEV can pop in here and explain why this has not happening yet or if it's coming soon, I'm all ears.

The only thing wrong with CM and EM is the silly long cast time. Other than that, its the same reason FFs and any other shield buffs (its a mez shield, really) haven't been made AoE;

It would need to be put on a longer recharge (inconvenient) it would cost more endurance (also inconvenient) and...yeah. Just no.

Decrease the cast time by all means, because its annoyingly long. But everything else about it is fine.

I agree with Techbot. I wouldn't want Clear Mind to be an AoE with a longer recharge and higher endurance cost. As it is, I only use it on squishies, and only rarely. Wouldn't it suck if I had just fired off my AoE Clear Mind, only for a blaster to be two-shotted by Angry Boss Man, and then he gets perma-held after I resurrect him because Clear Mind has another minute before it recharges?

Yes, it would.

I feel the pain if I want to clear mind all the team members without status protection. However, the power is probably not intended to be used this way. I won't say the suggestion is game breaking, but it makes all the mob's status effect useless.

Here is a dev post about the animation/rooting time of clear mind. It's not exactly what you're looking for, but related.

As an AOE buff I would have to be next to the target for it to function.

Tonight I'll be running a Master STF, the last place I need to be is right next to the tank who is drawing ghost widows aggro when continually casting buffs.

I know thats an edge case, but it highlights the problem. I like having a range to this buff.

Castle has posted on this here.

I would hate to see it made an AOE since it is not supposed to be a team buff. It is a situational buff. Additionally, if AOE like the auras, then the caster would be affected, which is not going to happen - an emp with status protection! Might as well make all the other powers AOEs.

As for the rooting, again it is a situational buff. You have to make a choice when to use it. I have been playing an emp since the day I started over 5 years ago and don't have an issue with it.

This game is already easy enough. This suggestion would just make it way more so.

/No thanks.

I'd MUCH rather be able to situationally apply it, one at a time, than hope everyone who needs it is in range of the AOE... which they inevitably won't boe... and then have them have to wait until it's reapplied.

Yup Yup This^.

Making it an AoE buff just adds the problem of having to make sure everyone is in range - and adding another "Gather for CM" to the "Gather for RAs", "Gather for AM", etc. And then having someone inevitably miss out on the buff....

I know I'm necroing here, but this was an amusing thread to re-read now that CM and the like have been changed to be AoE, and (as far as I know) did not receive extra long recharges or bigger endurance costs.

Plus maybe this thread will break up the "omg the game is ending!" threads a little bit

Clear Mind and other single-target powers that provide status protection were NOT made into AoEs.

Increase Density from Kinetics only provides the resistance buff as an AoE. The anti-mez portion is still single-target only.

Dammit, you made me think Dee was back.

You can get similar amusement from finding a thread where people were arguing over whether Speed Boost and the various single target defense/resistance shields should be made AoE though.

Topics like this just make me miss the days when little details about powers were the biggest issues we saw facing the game.

Can't believe that was only a month ago.
