Elec/Shields

I've really been having a difficult time trying to figure out a build for my elec/shields brute. There doesn't seem to be too many posts in regards to them. I would like the build to at least contain mainly IO's and probably a few purp sets. I love Lightning Rod and Shield Charge, I think it's a great combo. I'm not sure of what epic powers to use but I wanted to use this brute mainly for farming....I've got about 4 billion to spend, if needed, hah.

Thanks,

Worry about soft capping your defense first. I have an elec/shield scrapper that is soft capped to all positions except for only 43 for AOE and the survivability is greatly increased. It’s not that hard to softcap with weave, combat jump and some IO sets.

You will need to 6 slot some powers like Buildup and your attacks to get the positional bonus. I also have combat jumping slotted with a Zepher set. You will have to make use of epic sets to help out and may have to take the immobilize power for Enfeebled Operation bonus.

Don’t worry about purple sets until after you are soft capped. To get your recharge up there you can slot 5 LOTG recharges in your 5 defense powers. This will also help out because you can also 3 slot each of them with a LOTG def and a LOTG def/end for hp and regen bonus, if you have extra slots.

With Hasten up I have both lightning rod and shield charge recharge around 25 sec. Sometimes faster if force feedback proc fires off, slot it in Thuderstrike, and finish that power with 5 slots of Sciroccos for AOE set bonus.

Freedom Server - Main = Lil Bug & way too many alts to list

If you dig around both here and the scrapper forums, you will see dozens of elec/sd builds ranging from the incredibly expensive to the moderately affordable. It's kind of silly to post builds that are already fairly common on the forum.

Usually we wait more than two hours for a well typed thoughtful response. Or you could do a search for this very same build and save yourself the two hours.....

As always...we're here for you.

Try swapping out one of your obliteration sets wit 5 sciroccos an that should softcapp your AoE def an mabey a full set of BoZ

with all that money you should have no problems 3 sets of Tod .1 set of obliteration . 1 set of mako. steadfast proc , gladiator armor proc, numina& miracle procs in health 3 blessings of zeph take soul for a patron get darkest night & obliteration an those poor AE critters wont know what hit em. im posting from work so i dont really have the time to really get into builds but the general idea is to get the "big 3 of your def to atleast 45% " remeber to 6 slot your toggle defs 3 slot your auto's 3 slot your click wit recharge if you can an the rest is up to you.purples are not needed in a def based toon and afeter you fork over a bazillion bucks for a gladiator armor proc you wont want em any ways

Like others said, focus on softcapping your defense to all 3 positions first. Afterwards I would aim for recharge and +HP. HP and regen is very helpful for a defense based set for when attacks actually get through, more HP increases your resistance and your regen rate which is always good.

I'll disagree with the set choices, but the advice is good. For Elec/SD, you have 4 potential AoE attacks, which either can take scirrocco or obliteration for AoE or melee defense. I lean toward obliteration for the 5% recharge bonuses. That leaves mako for the range defense.

In any case, there are quite a few sets out there, and as has been said, there are quite a few builds to look at. You'll be much happier in the long run if you take 30 minutes and peruse both the scrapper and brute forum for these builds and take notes. Because, in the long run, it is your character, and your playstyle you are spending your inf on.

With stacking Active Defense going, my defense debuff resistance is up around 93%, so close to Super Reflexes levels.

I realize I have no epic for extra AOE or -kb immob, but frankly she doesn't need it. It's a bit slow on taking down bosses, but even then it's not too bad unless they have good resists (for a boss). Anything less isn't even worth talking about.

Capped defenses (or within a fraction of them, and past if you're teaming with even 1 person and in their vicinity) and Aid Self make her pretty much immortal even when lucky shots do get through. Endurance recovery isn't spectacular, but with the occasional blue is enough to keep me going.

Mind, this build is for tanking on teams of 8 on the ITF. I'm not worried about hard single targets because there's a team to work on them. I'm worried about gathering as much aggro as possible to keep fury up, and keeping the AVs as angry at me as possible (without Taunt, anyway). Oh, and killing absolutely everything short of an AV or boss in one or two clicks. I've dragged the aggro of the entire set of computer defense robots with a couple of well placed teleSMASHes, and held their attention off to the side (by 'held their attention' I mean stomped them into the ground) while the team finished off the computer.

It's not a chainsaw build, but if you want massive AoE, tankerlike defenses, and to lead a team in waves of carnage? It'll do.

I only have one question: Why is boxing 6 slotted when havoc punch isn't slotted at all? If you don't like the animation time on Havoc Punch, there is charged brawl.

Posted

I noticed that myself after I was done building, but I'd already slotted things, and after examining the numbers it just doesn't make that big a difference. Havoc Punch has about twice the DPS as Boxing, but also has just over twice the recharge time. Six of one, half a dozen of the other. My main use of Boxing/Brawl/Havoc Punch is just to keep Fury up when there's only that one boss left in a group AND there's not another group close by to drag him onto. When you add in the doubled chance for the proc to fire, the damage difference isn't that big a deal.

Also, I'm lazy and don't want to respec again (either to swap slotting or to switch HP for CB) for something so trivial for what I do. It's not like this is a RWZ Challenge + Pylon build or anything, it's a SMASH all comers full team build.

Hm. I think I have a Hecatomb chance for negative energy in my Brawl, too. May not have updated Mids after finding it.

Anyway, hope the explanation made at least some sense. It's very late.

Just sayin'.
