@KoolVirus

I'm am actually new to the ninja stalker so I don't know of any of their weaknesses but I plan to find out while leveling.

i'd reroll that into any of the following before spending any money on it:
elec | spines | em / wp | regen | nin.
otherwise, you're just gonna be disappointed when you can't kill bad players not because of your lack of skill but because of your build.
Alright so, never have been to big into PvP into this game, I'll be honest. I think it may have been because my server is pretty dead when it comes to red side and most PvP. I have a few questions relating to PvP.
1. I'm looking for a server that has good PvP. I mean, That there is always people in Recluses Victory on both sides. 2. The reason all this came about is because I created an amazing toon and I wish to recreate it for PvP purposes. It's a Ninja sword/Ninjitsu Stalker. Can someone say ninja? lol I need to know what I should look for when it comes to building a great build. 3. Does the server from question one have a high population of villains? That's all I really have, I don't want to know EVERYTHING about PVP just need some info to get started. I would like to thank all who actually read this post and double thank all who reply |
Freedom...and it really does not matter your pimary is on stalker as long as your ASing and not playing like most idiot stalkers. Don't get my wrong EM is WAY better but Ninja Sword will do. BTW if you happen to see my Archery blaster in zone...run....i eat ninjistu stalkers. lolz. Hitting thru teir 9 is so hawt.

now does black barrier mean replacing my ninjitsu for one of those?

I'd be willing to bet that freedom has more dedicated PvP'ers than all the other servers combined. So yeah, move to freedom.
But ninja blade does kinda suck. You might be up for the challenge now, but just playing a stalker vs good players is challenging enough, as you'll learn. In the end, you'll most likely regret not having a top-tier build.
ninja is OK with abunch of KB IO's but i would suggest WP or even regen over ninjitsu.
Ninja blade definitly should be replaced with EM,elec, or spines if you want to be the best you can.
A lot of people are saying no to the ninja thing so I'll take their advice.
For my attack what do you guys think would roll better: Claws, Dual Blades, Martial Arts, and if those three absolutely suck, I'll probably go with Energy.
For my other powerset hows super reflexes, regeneration, or dark armor?

being able to serve as both blaster and stalker in a kb is a huge huge huge advantage.
impale > sharks when it comes to dealing with targets with halfway good reflexes.
also, spines/regen > all unless there's a bubbler. but yeah, definitely better than an em/wp with one piddly heal having to rely on 30 minute shark animations for follow-up; and it's not like you have thunderstrike to make up for it...
damn right.

Anything -res wrecks regen stalkers. They dont have the HP to make up for it like scrappers can. You get it by ANYTHING with -res....you will already be in the -res percentages. Being you only have like 5% res to start of with. (cause of DR...without you get a whole 10%). Thats why regen is so lolz on stalkers. But hey if you like getting hit with 600 dmg from shout...go ahead. lolz

on my regen, i can hit IH and ignore a psi blaster throwing willdoms at me, he hits aim and bu, i take the dmg and hit recon if i feel like it...
also, most good wps don't take the resistance toggle. they never have.
850 pt heal + 500 pt heal + a 40% uptime of shadow meld = nothing will kill you solo. ever.

The (big) problem with regen is no perception and no repel protection. Especially the perception makes a really big deal. It's really annoying to not be able to see half the people in the zone.
I don't think there's any question that regen is more survivable than WP. Even the biggest WP lovers have always admitted that. The thing that makes WP better overall is the almost-as-good survivability, combined with the offensive perks.
To the OP: Just to make sure you understand, ninjitsu is not bad. It's just the ninja blade part of your original build that's weak. But if you're gonna make a new toon, you might as well do new powersets, so that the PvE won't be as boring.
I moved from Infinity to Freedom last week and it was well worth it. I tranferred my Sonic/Dev Blaster and EM/Regen Stalker over to have something to play with both sides.
You can get by just fine with /WP and /Regen. Up to you. Enjoy your stay, btw.
I'll chime in with my $0.02 here as well.
I have an L40's NB/Nin Stalker (a re-roll on Freedom of a build I began on
Guardian), and I like it well (I tend to wander around Siren's with it currently).
It has been effective, but I agree that it requires a lot of patience to play
well. In cautious hands, he's a hard one to pin down long enough to kill,
but getting kills is also difficult in full health battles. He does fine with
opportunistic tactics.
The biggest drawback I find with the NB part of the build is ... Range.
I can ambush a player easily enough in most cases, and hit hard with AS,
and usually Soaring Dragon as a follow-up... The problem? It generally
won't kill him, but it will (most often) get him on his horse and bailing.
Without Range Attacks - he's gone... No kill for joo, and somewhat
frustrating besides. If you're in to Teaming, that can mitigate that
drawback somewhat, but it's a pita (Pain in the...) solo.
As for Nin, I really like that secondary a lot, and in PvE it is fabulous. In
PvP, the main issue I find is that Caltrops in general isn't worth much
because most folks have SS and/or SJ and basically just run out of it
(getting you back to the Range issue above). It's great in PvE for ghetto
control and damage mitigation, but much less helpful in PvP.
However, the heal, the perception and the anti-status powers still make
it a good secondary imho.
So, while I'm still chipping away at getting him to L50, I've also started
working on a Spines/Nin instead... I think it will be quite a bit more
effective for bagging the guy before he can get away - We'll see.

For every seller who leaves the market dirty stinkin' rich,
there's a buyer who leaves the market dirty stinkin' IOed. - Obitus.
For zone stalking in rv I prefer my elec/wp/soul over my other stalkers. If I am feeling lazy though I will load up my spine/regin/mako. I used to play spine nin and em regin to, I would rate the elec wp ahead of both for pure stalking for myself, but I am terrible at stalking.
Duel me.
I will work on my sig pic more when I have time.
Noob question
Why do you guys say WP over Regeneration for stalkers?

Repel protection and built in +perception are the two biggies. Also silly easy to cap hp without accoing. Also with the stacked mitigation and with shadow meld it offers it a nice escape power on its own.

Why isn't that the case for scrappers? Why aren't there a lot more WP scrappers then regeneration scrappers?
