Anyway, grats to all the winners, I really loved seeing all the costumes out running around, and that giant mess of pushup was really funny.
Nope, they're more so. Now crawl back under your 1 post bridge.

taste is subjective, and just because you didn't win doesn't mean you had a bad costume. I mean, remember that huce costume contest the CoX staff held a while back? A friggin' comic book clone won the thing, and other clones were finalists.

What matters most here is that this is a costume contest, and the judges are probably not all professional fashion critics. They're people like you and me who tried to make a good judgement, and regardless of if any of us think their judgement sucks, they have a right to have a sucky opinion because it's their contest.

Personally, I'm disappointed that I didn't get a prize or mention and I think the Victory judges don't appreciate a sense of theme or of utilizing the costume system to create things that shouldn't normally exist. However, I respect their right to disagree, and am prepared to be proved wrong depending on who ends up winning the contest.

I actually have to say hallelujah to that. Professional fashion critics seem to have no taste whatsoever. I liked the competitor's costumes (of the one's I saw anyways) so I trust their judgement.

Hi everyone! I just returned from Disney World and wanted to pop in here. I was very glad to have the pleasure of being one of the MCs for Victory's Mr. and Ms. Paragon City/Rogue Isles contest. We were very impressed with MANY of the costumes and I was pleased to see so many people enter. If we could, we would give out awards to many more people for their originality and use of color, etc. However, seeing as this is a cross server event with over 750 participants, that would be really next to impossible.

Now, a note about walkins, we allowed them last year and we did this year again. I announced in game several days and weeks prior to the event that we would be allowing walkins, but that you needed to sign up if you wanted to make sure you had a spot. I know that not everyone saw this announcement, but I did it. I also said it on vent when I know some of you that jumped in on this thread were there :P Please be happy for the winners and cheer for them to be crowned the overall winners- Victory needs more clout!

At PERC, we are always trying to make our events better. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to PM any time. I just ask that you remember that these are PLAYER RUN events and we are donating our time to hold events for the COX public. Please give your criticism or suggestions constructively. Thanks!

~MP

Never saw or heard anything about walkins til day of. If I had known about walkins I wouldn't have bothered to even sign up as I had other things to do on a Sat night.

F the walkins.

If they couldn't be bothered to sign up, judges shouldn't be bothered by them either.

While it does kinda sting to lose to someone who couldn't even bother to RSVP, this is also the third time this contest has been run, and I assume allowing walk-ins was decided in order to more honor the spirit of the event/competition.

I was kinda bitter before, but actually PERC did a pretty good job. Even if they have no taste.

Toril... ummm, what's up? You okay? Need a candy cane? Need us to make a joke at Voo's expense?

They've already explained it, and while I didn't know there were going to be walk-ins until MP announced it in channels, it's not a big deal. If anything, more competition means a lot more. I didn't win even a runner up nod, but I would have felt kind of meh about winning or getting runner up if I was only running against three other people (which is how many signed up for the male heroes category, like my guy). Plus, you got judged before the walk-ins and didn't have to wait with all the crazies in Pocket D.

Anyway, you're better than this post. Buck up! It's a fun event whether you win or not.

Guide: Tanking, Wall of Fire Style (Updated for I19!), and the Four Rules of Tanking
Story Arc:
Belated Justice, #88003
Synopsis: Explore the fine line between justice and vengeance as you help a hero of Talos Island bring his friend's murderer to justice.
Grey Pilgrim: Fire/Fire Tanker (50), Victory

As I said to someone else in a PM. It has nothing to do with winning or losing, I didn't expect to win. I only signed up because there wasn't much interest. The unexpected rules change is what bothered me about the event. I have never participated in any PERC event before the auction a month or so ago. Just because something has been done the same way for 15 years doesn't mean its going to be done the same every time. For people not familiar with these type things it would have been nice if it would have been stated in the original flyer that there was zero reason to actually sign up, just show up. I have attempted to support PERC because I have met some of the people involved and find them to be good people.

In the beginning I attempted to be supportive because there was littlle interest. In the end I'm just miffed that I bothered because there was really no reason. I typically don't play on Saturday nights, as I do other things on the weekends.

Hell the only reason I am posting this weekend is because I can't sleep. Otherwise, I just post during the week when I'm bored at work.

Ok I lost this contest, not the first time I've lost a contest. But I want to see pics of the winners. I mean, if I lost to a person named Serenity Cow, I've just got to see this costume. Or should I call Shenanigans?

Unfortunately, the person who took the screenshots accidentally forgot to turn the UI on, so I have to look through and place them by order judged. It's a few hour project and I have not had time to do it just yet. I will work on it as soon as I can. If any of the winners have a screen shot of them, posting would be helpful!

EDIT: Okay it was a little easier than I thought. I figured out three of them. The male villain I am not 100% sure about. Maybe someone can help?

Female Hero

Male Hero

Female Villain

Male Villain? (I think it is one of these three)

Ummmm, whoever judged Serenity Cow (if that is indeed the picture of Serenity Cow) should hang out with Lousy Day and his friends more... they have that barnyard animals SG and really make some good animal themed costumes... I'd rank the ones I've seen of that SG over that one.

The female hero (Addy Cadabby?) looks pretty good, though this costume highlights why I would never want to judge these events. I've seen plenty of costumes on par with that one running around during regular play and Isos, too.

I'll judge writing any day... this would just be way too difficult and all the costumes would start bleeding together for me, I think (as I joked with you the other night, MP).

.

But Serenity Cow is in Barnyard Heroes.

WHAT? Hmmmmm. Hmmmm. Okay, then I guess I preferred some other cow costumes I saw of theirs! Screen caps don't always do the trick, I must admit.

And I think I prefer the tried and true black and white outfits for cows. Brown and white cows always seem wrong to me, even though I've seen plenty driving through the country. Hehe.

As for walkins winning. It would not be fair for us to allow walkins to compete but eliminate them in favor of pre registered individuals even if we felt that their costume was better. If you pre registered you were judged first. This year we had more walkins then pre registered competitors. 48 walkins to 16 pre registered. A 3 to 1 ratio. Last year 59 Registered and 31 walked in.

While I prefer pre registered competitors, walkins allow for everyone that wants to compete, to compete. As for screenshots, we should have them posted soon.

Ice
Ok I have read this several times and I was just wondering. So was there a 0% chance that walk-ins could even win?

Absolutely incorrect. Ice was explaining that more walkins did win because there were more walkins than pre-registered competitors. Walkins and pre-registereds had the same chance to win. Those who registered just had a guaranteed spot to be judged and did not have to wait.

Infinity scores are finished! Just waiting on the other servers scores and they are postable!

Yes, Serenity Cow is a member of Barnyard Heroes. A founding member, in fact. The horseshoe is our SG logo. I have a couple of (really old) screenshots that allow you a better view of Cow. They were taken when he had the Vahzilok Wasting Disease, but now he actually has the flies as his aura so the pictures are still accurate:

I thought I had more but I guess I deleted them in one of my routine purges.

As for brown vs white, I prefer my cows brown. Too many black one out there and I like to be different!

I've played with you guys a bit... mostly on my Agent Janus (Assault Rifle/EM Blaster) and Bladed Justice (WP/DB Tanker). I think you were mostly on a mouse theme at the time, heh. Those getups were pretty good too.
