I'm sad to see there'll be 2 eliminations this month.
My votes are:
1. Shia
2. Lousy Day
3. PyroNympho -
Quote:Why do you have to whittle the contestants down to 2 at the end? Why can't you have a final 3 or 4 and vote for the winner from those who remain? I'm not trying to start any controversy, but I'm just curious of the benefit of a final 2 over a final 3 or 4.
With 11 contestants and 9 months to go (now 10 and 8) we were overdue to have an elimination.
In fact, assuming there are no other drops (**gives the other artists the "don't even think about it look"**),
we will at some point have to have a few double elimination months. That'll be interesting.

Quote:It's strange LD, but, of the three, I actually like the crayon version the best. The texture of the paper (and I guess the cheapness of the crayons) give the piece a very interesting look.

1st: Clutch
2nd: Lousy Day
3rd: Battlewraith -
Lots of great pieces this month. I can tell it's going to be an awesome competition this year (Clutch's February entry has gotten next month off to a great start too!).
I wasn't going to vote this month since it's clear that my pick will run away with immunity, but since it's been suggested that past votes might be the tie-breaker in future months, I figured I'd add my voice to the chorus since I might end up saving an artist with this vote a few months down the line.
And, in honour of the Olympic theme, I'm going to award a gold, silver, and a bronze (even though I'm aware that only my first place vote will count).
Gold Medal: Lousy Day
Silver Medal: Eddy Swan
Bronze Medal: Frost
Great job everyone! -
Quote:Yes, Serenity Cow is a member of Barnyard Heroes. A founding member, in fact. The horseshoe is our SG logo. I have a couple of (really old) screenshots that allow you a better view of Cow. They were taken when he had the Vahzilok Wasting Disease, but now he actually has the flies as his aura so the pictures are still accurate:WHAT? Hmmmmm. Hmmmm. Okay, then I guess I preferred some other cow costumes I saw of theirs! Screen caps don't always do the trick, I must admit.
And I think I prefer the tried and true black and white outfits for cows. Brown and white cows always seem wrong to me, even though I've seen plenty driving through the country. Hehe.
I thought I had more but I guess I deleted them in one of my routine purges.
As for brown vs white, I prefer my cows brown. Too many black one out there and I like to be different! -
I'm glad I discovered this contest this year. I was exposed to a lot of great art by a lot of talented artists. Truly impressive.
For the final vote, I'm voting for the piece that made me say "wow!" when I saw it. Both pieces were great, but one really jumped out at me and got my attention. This month, I'm voting for Foo! -
There's an extra quotation mark at the end of the 2nd & 3rd URLs. Just delete them and you can see the pictures.

When I saw the theme for this month, I figured a lot of people would have trouble with it; not because you're not all very talented people (you are!) but because I figured showing the transformation part from good to evil (or evil to good) would be hard to capture. I think some people did have a hard time with it, but others did an amazing job!
So, where's my vote going this month? Well, I'm ruling out any piece that used panels. I think it's much too easy to show transformation if you have a before and after. And, unfortunately, I can't vote for Foo because, apparently, I'm too immature to view his piece (sorry, since I'm not an artist, I'm not going to spend time registering on DA).
The piece I'm voting for is Lousy Day's. At first, when I looked at it, I wasn't terribly impressed (sorry LD!). But, the more I looked at it the more I saw what he was doing with the piece and the more impressed I became. In a very simple image he was show Scirocco ascending from evil to good. The colours, the pose, the brush strokes all contributing to convey the transformation!
Excellent, excellent work LD! -
I think that because it's for fun and because the idea is to let people's creativity shine, you should limit the restrictions to really let people run with the themes.
That being said, when you do see fit to put in a restriction or rule and someone breaks the rule, I think there should be consequences since it's unfair to those that followed the rules.
For example, if you specifically decide that signature heroes and villains aren't allowed for a specific theme and someone decides to use Ghost Widow anyway because they thought of an awesome way to incorporate her into the theme, I think that shouldn't be allowed. Because, no matter how great the piece turns out, it gave that person an advantage over those that didn't use a signature hero. Maybe someone else had an even better idea that involved Positron, but didn't do it because the rules said not to.
It is for fun and all, but if the competitors are anything like me, they probably like to feel like their fun is fair. -
I vote for Lousy Day. If there was a Positron movie, I'm sure that's what the poster would look like!

Wow that's quite a cast!

Isn't the use of real actors' names against the rules for this month? -
I didn't know anyone could vote! In that case, I vote for Lousy Day. Not only was his idea of stained glass crazy original, but his execution was amazing as well!
Great job LD! -
It seems the "Brief" pattern is missing from Monstrous bottoms. Monsters walking around without briefs is a scary thought, so this should be looked into.
Oh, and I have it on good authority that Jay is sexy. -
Great FAQ! I just wanted to make one comment:

Q5: What's the most efficient way to earn Prestige?
A5: Bosses and Lts give more Prestige per enemy. Mission doors in PvP zones give more Prestige for completion. Enemies at +con seem to give more Prestige. Due to the way rewards are split up, running a team with other SG members who are also in SG mode will result in more Prestige being earned collectively. So the most efficient way would obviously be a large team of SG members running PvP zone door missions at a boosted difficulty.

Based on my testing, this wasn't true. Being teamed with SG members did not increase the prestige earned by the SG. I tested at around level 10. I fought a few groups in a mission solo, noted the prestige earned per baddie and as a whole, reset the mission, and started over with a SG-mate. What I found was that I was earning less than half of the prestige I was solo and he (being a level higher than me) was earning even less. The bigger spawn sizes didn't help make up the difference. As a group, we didn't earn much less, but we did earn less than I did solo.
I also found that added risk didn't really give added reward when it came to prestige. Solo, fighting a -1 lieutenant, I would earn 19 or 23 prestige (depending on the baddie). One level later, fighting a +3 lieutenant in a team of 3 earned me 10 prestige.
I admit to not having tested with any large teams (7 or 8 member teams), so, ultimately, fighting in large teams of only SG members might actually lead to more overall prestige earned due to the increased number of bosses (who do give significant prestige numbers), but my testing showed that simply adding team members does not necessarily increase the overall prestige earned and increasing the risk is not an effective way to earn prestige more quickly.
