Best Team Arena Blaster
sonic/em.
I've been having fun with my Psi/EM in the Kickballs and it is great and all, pimp range, mini spike, smooth attack chain etc but i'd quite like to be able to stun the target from range and well i dont see scramble thoughts as a viable option.
What would you choose as a team blaster between Arch/EM, Son/EM and Rad/EM ? |

Well you saying you want to stun from range i would say sonic would be best for that. It has a very quick animation on the stun and can be powerboosted to last for around 5 seconds. I have a sonic/em but i don't use it in KB's i use it in small matches and theres been a number of times i've gotten kills on emped basters because i stun there emp an switch back to the blaster. Screech can be very nasty when used right

The stun is also your best -res power.
Beyond having the fastest animating stun I'd put sonic up there just because you can get a -40% res on the target after a few seconds, so when the rest of the spike comes in its just that much better.
The biggest thing about sonic (to me) If figuring when and where you can get away with using shout and not get plastered too badly.
Well i honestly think rad has to be right there u can power boost its stun as well, and cb does double more like triple the dmg. I also doubt many of u have even tried rad for blasters. So just wondering untill you do how u can make an accurate choice
Fire, Psi, and Sonic are all viable options, but if you're looking to stun I suggest Sonic.

Also Cosmic Burst does about 28 times as much damage as screech. Not 2 or 3. (If both for whatever reason where ED slotted for dmg) Knowing all aspects of the power and how it ties in with the set help, rather than just going with which single attack hits the hardest.

Except you can throw the sonic stun from twice the distance. This makes it easier to set the spike with. By the time the rad blaster is in range for the mez the spike is probably resolved in some manner already.

While I am sure you can make a rad blaster alright in team settings, if you are setting up for a serious 8v8 lineup it has no room in the lineup.

Oh and you dont use shout in arena unless your target is about to hibernate.

-Res is resisted by resistance. Your average Blaster will have about 28% resistance to everything except Fire and Cold (which would be about 38-40%), because most Blasters are running Frozen Armor. Corrs, Doms, Defenders, will have maybe 40% resistance.

Anyways, on most arena events I do (mostly KB) theres plenty of stalkers waiting for you to root yourself. Same goes for zone, so I rarely use shout unless I'm making sure to get someone before phase/hibernate or if I have alot of -res builtup and I think its worth it.

Here are some numbers for you archery haters out there:
This is slotted not base numbers without aim and BU
Snap Shot: 232.4 Dmg
Aimed Shot: 343.6 Dmg
Blazing Arrow: 512.1 Dmg
Ranged Shot: 592.9 Dmg
With Aim and BU:
Snap Shot: 379.9
Aimed Shot: 569.7
Blazing Arrow:836.6
Ranged Shot: 1025.0
It also has a inherent bonus to ACC..that pretty much cancels out elustivity, meaning it never misses. Also the only set besides AR that has a snipe and a stun. To me archery is better then rad.
I hate rad more than archery on blasters, so you didn't really have to sell me on that. Its still not psi fire or sonic though. I still want to smack them for changing the recharge times on rad blast. I had such high hopes for it.

Frankly, using a blaster for a stun spike isn't the way to go. Fire/em or Psi/em for team matches. Dominators and FF controllers are better for setup.

It has more burst than fire or sonic. But over time, fire and sonic are capable of more damage. Fire and sonic are both about just spamming a couple attacks...with sonic also having the situational shout. Psy and archery are more about quick burst.
I do agree that archery is better than rad. Simply fixing the placate proc would totally shake up the blaster primary rankings though. Imo it could take psy from #1 a lot further than just #2.
I thought Fire along with Ice weren't that good for PvP anymore?
