An Idea
Hmmmm...
How about:
DM/DA
SM/Elec
Elec/Stone
Axe/Shield
Mace/Fire
Fire/SR
SS/INV
Claws/EA
EM/WP
I went off memory but I think I got them all.
Problem 1: Now that brutes have claws, there's one more primary than secondary. So you'll have to play some secondary twice if you really want to hit them all.
That said, stick with theme.
Dark/Dark
Energy/Energy
Stone/Stone
Fire/Fire
Elec/Elec
SS/Invul
Axe/Shield
Mace/WP
DB and Claws/SR
Clouded missed DB.
Be well, people of CoH.
Those are some great ideas! Although Bill Z I thought about doing theme, but for fire/fire and stone/stone, they don't have a matching epic pool . But I guess I can always customize the powers to look like one of the pools. Thanks a lot guys. I'm gonna be busy :P

I'm not sure about you, but i'd avoid just making pairs. You'll often end resisting enemies that resist you.... and taking a lot of damage from the enemies you can hit the hardest.
exemple: Fire/fire will be unkillable the fire enemies....but it will take a lot longer to kill them. Against ice on the other hand, you'll kill them quickly... but it will be really dangerous for you. (less resisted damage type and -rech)
What i prefer is to have different pairing. Like DM/invuln for exemple. Against s/l they won't hurt you much and they probably won't resist you much. Of course, against ghosts, they'll hit you hard and you'll take a lot of time to kill them.
So it mostly depends on if you prefer to always be average or if you want to have really high peak against some, but kryptonite that's very challenging for you. Me, i prefer to have my godlike moment, even if they come at a price. =)

Stone Melee is slow to recharge, hard hitting and expensive End wise, but gives nice Control survivability and good single target damage. Elec Armour gives a recharge bonus, AOE damage and superb End Recovery, but it's a tad squishy. If I hadn't gone with Stone/Fire before the changes to Energise I'd deffo have gone Stone/Elec instead I reckon.
Stone Armours "Mega" mode at 38 slows you even further, so I'm not sure slow hitting Stone Melee is the best choice. Being a bit of an AOE monster via Elec might work better to enable you to be the pseudo-tank who build Fury from being attacked and then maximises his damage via the AOEs (one of which is also a TP), which also keeps things aggroed on him.
Fire/Fire is the obvious choice. But Fiery Embrace isn't that superb, especially on a Brute and War Mace does have lots of knockdown which works well with Burn to keep things in the burn patch, as well as adding survivability. That's coming from a "Maximise Burn" approach with lots of Knockdown as oppose to Fire/Fires "Give me 30 seconds of Spike damage via Fiery Embrace". The problem with Fire/Fire for me would be the lack of mitigation in Fire Melee coupled with Fire Armours achilles heels (Cold and Psi damage, both of which you've little resistances to and both of which also hurt your Recharge which hurts Healing Flames). SR is fairly self-contained in terms of mitigation so it can get away with Fire Melees "Do loads of Damage" approach more. War Maces "mitigate via popcorning things" would work well in preventing stacks of attacks (and their attached debuffs) which might cause Fire Armour issues.
I think my own personal list would be :
SM/Elec
Elec/Stone
DM/Shield
Mace/Fire
Fire/SR
Claws/WP (My scrapper is one of these, it'd be nice as a Brute as it can pretty much go non-stop)
SS/INV (not that I'd have a massive desire to play one. DB/INV could be interesting too)
Axe/EA
EM/DA (for the stacking stuns)
Although the last 2 are purely guesses and not really based on anything other than "What's left over and how well do I think they go together, with no real experience of them".
I am pretty close to doing this already. I didn't set out to do it, but it just kind of happened.
Mine are the following
Stone/Stone
EM/Elec
Elec/Fire
Fire/Dark
DM/WP
WM/EA
DB/Invuln
That leaves Claws, BA, and SS for primary and SR, Shield for secondary still to do.
I broke with only playing each once when I made my SS/WP and I will probably at some point pair the last couple I have in some way. I also wouldn't call some of my characters the best matches but they were all fun.
I will probably replay some of the sets again. DA paired with Fire just didn't reach the level of performance I think Dark is capable of, so I will try it again with something else, and ELec Armor has changed so I can see playing through it again.
Me personally would go something like this.
Fire/Stone
Elec/SR
Claws/Dark
SS/Shield
mace/energy - Cos ist strong adn pretty!
DB/elec
Dark/Fire
energy/wp
Stone/Inv
there we go, nice and tasty =D
Awesome, great ideas. I'm gonna start making my list right now. So far I have a DM/Shield, SS/Inv and claws/SR. I really like the idea of a DB/Elec and wanted to play one now but, when i put the build in mids it was so tight that i didnt like it at all. Way too many have to take powers that were being pushed farther back.
I will remain a soldier until the war is won.
This is a fun excersize
Fire/SR
Dark/Shield
SS/Elec
DB and Claws/WP
Elec/Fire
Mace/Dark
Axe/Invuln
Energy/Energy
Stone/Stone
This may sound stupid but I thought I'd post it anyways in a way to be more active on the forums. I mainly solo since victory villain side is so vacant. But my question is if you could only play each primary and secondary powerset once, how would you pair them?

This may sound stupid but I thought I'd post it anyways in a way to be more active on the forums. I mainly solo since victory villain side is so vacant. But my question is if you could only play each primary and secondary powerset once, how would you pair them? not for soloing av's or anything but, just for general soloing like up to eb's and stuff and maybe a little bit of farming. I wanna play each set only once so I came here to get some ideas on how you guy's would do it. Mainly cause I find that even in other mmo's when i play something more than once I get kinda bored of it. So that's why I'm asking for no repeats. Thanks for the help
