Are people not liking Claws/SR?

I have a claws/sr and a claws/ela. They're both in their 30's somewhere, and it's somewhat hard to judge how they'll pan out since SR needs some investment to become really durable.

I don't think ELA is a poor choice or anything, my claws/ela was soloing on +0/x6, which I certainly wouldn't call bad. In the long run ELA is not gonna be anywhere near as durable I'm sure, but it'll have insane endurance tools, a godmode power for tougher fights, and a damage aura. The only real downside is that ELA seems to be that is is a pretty offensive set (dmg aura, endurance drain, recharge boost) at the cost of some defense and claws does not offer much in the way of mitigation to help out. By far the most fun thing about ELA though is watching a sapper just shoot you nonstop and not even caring. Endurance drains is one of those things that tends to really own most characters (like a sapper detoggling someone in 2 hits), and ELA is essentially immune to it (same for arachnos and the annoying mu).

Same feeling with SR, but they're just missing you.

Now, the auto-hit end drain of dead carnies is another thing entirely. :/

Sure, but with SR there is a chance of getting hit, and a chance of being detoggled because of said hit (if you're not paying attention to your endurance). I know on my SR I'll still kill sappers first either way, just in case they roll a hit. As ELA endurance debuffs/removal effects might as well not exist (save for crashes).

That's where Willpower comes in. You can actually dodge the effect. I was all like the first time I saw it happen on my DB/WP Scrapper! I'd think that /SR could dodge it, too...

I don't believe that the death cry end drain is autohit. I could be wrong, of course, but I seem to recall ignoring it completely when I'm fighting carnies.

Be well, people of CoH.

Its not. I ran thorugh half of harvey maylors arc on my fire/sr and never had my endurance drained.

I'm pretty sure it isn't. Otherwise my Nin/Nin Stalker wouldn't have a much easier time fighting them over my SS/WP Brute. I've never looked at the combat spam to see if it has a hit check though. I'll go do that.

Edit: Ninja'd. But might as well confirm:

You land a critical hit with your Gambler's Cut for an extra 192.07 points of lethal damage!
Ring Mistress MISSES! Psychic Visage power had a 8.45% chance to hit, but rolled a 53.82.
According to the wiki, Psychic Visage is the end drain power. So yeah, not autohit.

Looks like I need to pick up aid self on my brute as well.

I really like fighting +0/x8 maps of Rikti, but the huge mass of mobs do tend to drop me from time to time over an extended fight.

I'm sure having aid self would completely eliminate those problems.

I'd really like to compare Bill Z build to mine, if it weren't a secret or something of that nature.

Hi guys -

Been reading up a lot on Brute claws.

Can someone take pity on me and post a MIDS build that does the following:

1) Has enough recharge to run BillZ's DPS chain of FU, Slash, Focus, Strike
-- BillZ says that's 184% total recharge in follow up
-- BillZ says his FU slotting is:

Quote:
mako's dam/rec
mako's acc/end/rec
mako's acc/dam/end/rec
crushing impact acc/dam/rec
crushing impact acc/dam/end
crushing impact dam/end/rec

Two reasons I did this are needing the recharge in FU for the fu, slash, focus, strike, repeat chain, and it gives me another 35.2 HP

Final stats on that are:
Acc: 80.94
Dam: 96.3
End: 80.94
Rec: 96.3
2) Has Aid Self
3) Has Tough but not necessarily Weave (can if needed)
4) Is Soft-Capped
5) Doesn't rely much (if any) on purples

I've been trying to build this but my Mids-Fu is weak.

Thx.
