Frankly I would be less concerned about the AT trends and more concerned about the low population trends on villains specifically. On some servers lowbie redside is very hard to find a team on as it is. It'll get harder if say even a quarter of redsiders start rolling their villains in Praetoria instead of the Rogue Isles.

Conversely though I think a lot of bluesiders will make their heros vigilantes so that they can play red side content while still being able to play blueside content as well. Personally unless there is a very strong reason to stay as a full hero I know I'm going to make most of my heros vigilantes since it means more variety in available content. Admittedly that won't help as much with lower level teams but it should mean an increase in level 50 teams.

Which raises a good question... how will we be able to tell if someone's a rogue or vigilante and thus available for teaming? I suppose if there's a Brute standing in Talos it's obvious, but will the search results be able to search the Rogue Isles for available people? Will it only return rogues and vigilantes and not pure villains? Will I be able to see in my friends list if they're a rogue?

Good questions.
i'd be surprised if they hadn't already been considered by the Devs, but that doesn't mean it's all been determined yet. i suppose we can either hope a Dev reads this, knows the answer and is allowed to tell us, or someone can send a PM and hope the Dev knows the answer and is allowed to tell us.

These are the kinds of questions that I'm not all that worried about. If they don't remember those things that's the kind of thing that will be caught in beta testing, and probably pretty early on. I would be much more concerned about the long term trends that develop in the low level game for people that don't buy Going Rogue.

I'm the same way. Regardless of the character I'm on, I jump in. Because I'm so used to playing tanks, it's sometimes, "jump in, see my health diminish, realise I'm not on my tank, get humbled".

Thank you, Champion.

this is what i have been concerned about ever since i heard some of the details of going rogue. To Be Honest, ill be starting in preatoria most likely because it is new, this will be what many people will be thinking as well. Both red and blue side will diminish initially, then hero side will probably go back to normal (+ some) mainly due to atlas park being a hang out spot and sewer teams (i doubt preatoria will have something comparable to the lvling potential). But the rogue isles (mainly mercy island) is going to become pretty bare much like how port oaks can sometimes be, lol.

Things in parenthesis are ATs I'll take, but not my first choice. Once things roll around, it'll look more like:

1-2 Brutes (Tanks)
2-4 Corrs, Controllers, VEATs (Defenders, MMs)
1-4 Dominators, Blasters, Scrappers (Stalkers, HEATs)

I vary and work around it when necessary. It's not a definite rule. It's just a nice formula I live by, because it's pretty foolproof.
Snipping this out because I love to throw out my idea of the perfect team for task forces.

Blueside:
My warshade
0-7 SG friends
7-0 People with a pulse, debuffs appreciated, no healers*.

Redside:
My mastermind (bots/traps)
0-7 SG friends
7-0 People with a pulse, no healers*.

I find that I am so insanely versatile with these two characters that it doesn't really matter who comes along for the ride. I like to have friends with me, since I know they're competent already. In the case of the warshade, I like to have debuffs along since he doesn't have any on his own. The /traps can put out -damage, -tohit, -def, and heaps of -res and -regen all by his lonesome.

But on topic, I don't think blurring the lines is going to make ATs disappear. People will play what they like to play, and anything is playable. As long as this holds true, every AT will exist in plenty, and I will continue to have fun.

*You can bring an empathy or pain dom, but do not call yourself a healer. You are either a buffing controller, defender, corruptor, or weapons platform.

"I care not what you are, only that you like the sheer awesomness of HITTING!"
-dives into the mob-

This was so very true on the last Union Rikti ship-raid. Somebody was trying to build specific teams, complete with a kin in each team...

Uhm, excuse me? Not on my watch. Form the teams up normally, tell them to stop trying to micro-manage, went on to bulldozer Rikti like there was no tommorow. As it should be on a ship raid, or any mission.

Good plan, and like I said I let mine vary when necessary/possible. But my basic plan works nearly all the time, including PUGs with people I don't know. I know with VGmates that we can put together a good team with just about anything, but I don't have that same guarantee with PUGs, so I make sure I have enough support toons that it will probably work.
