Justice United Channel Guidelines and Mission Statement
My name! I see it! and Hi everyone Hope we all shall have fun in the new channel together. I also hope we get to do some server wide events more since I am back playing again with more regularity, I enjoy those.
Chrome nice of you to extend the idea of unity outwards some more to encompass the server.

Seeing things behind the scenes as well as first hand, I have noticed that sometimes when hosting an event can be troublesome. Not for the channels, communites, & people that are trying to help the individual but for the Host of the event.
To explain a little further the benefit of doing this let me paint a scenerio, typically the host of an event deals with continuously having to keep up with multiple MoTD's, promotions on various channels, websites, forums, (not just CoH boards) then to answer all incoming question on each of the communites sites, channels, etc can become a hassle for the individual trying to get the word out. Weither its a radio show, a costume contest, a MA event, PERC/PvPec event, badging/TF race event, a lowbie event, etc the process sometimes can become grueling. |
I'm sorry if that's how it came across. But no this is not an attempt to fold all channels into one. This is an attempt to have representation from some of the leads of each channel in one to boast what Manoa correctly termed.
Think of it as a coalition of community event planning organizations to help maximize planning manpower and exposure for Justice events.
This NEW channel is for those players that want to participate in everything justice has to offer. Not just one thing or another... (You know the kind of players that say stuff like... I WILL NEVER PVP I will only do Costume Contests and never hit lvl 50 or I am HERE TO ROLE PLAY! types.) That channel may not be for them. But for others that do it all! Like PvP, and do TF's, and go to the events, and Raids, and are more than just one or two things. This is a way to make sure all that all the big players and communities will be able to voice each of them
The issue is not about individual channels, this new endeavor is for helping organizing events better. Like in my example below:
Seeing things behind the scenes as well as first hand, I have noticed that sometimes when hosting an event can be troublesome. Not for the channels, communities, & people that are trying to help the individual but for the Host of the event.
To explain a little further the benefit of doing this let me paint a scenario, typically the host of an event deals with continuously having to keep up with multiple MoTD's, promotions on various channels, websites, forums, (not just CoH boards) then to answer all incoming question on each of the communities sites, channels, etc can become a hassle for the individual trying to get the word out. Wither it’s a radio show, a costume contest, a MA event, PERC/PvPec event, badging/TF race event, a lowbie event, etc the process sometimes can become grueling.
Also if others want to join the channel so they can participate in all the events as well they are more than welcome too. Communities such as P.E.R.C., PvPec, Justice Radio, and others that run events would benefit from this.
I understand some folk’s stance on there respective channels helping those that run events. And I can agree with that mind set looking from the outside in. However, when looking at it from the inside out it is still a big process behind the scenes that not many see, having to answer questions on Chrome Support, JFA, JB (if a badge hunt event), Justice Radio, private channels etc can become over whelming to some. This channel is here to help unite the server in what ever event is being planned so any that wants to participate in them won't be left out. PvP events, CC's, Raids, Race's, casual teaming as well.
Also I do not want to discourage that Events will be the only focus but it is the main focus of this new direction. We still plan on having a friendly place where people can find teams and chat about things, but this channels goal is to help promote the fun without burning out anyone person from doing everything. We are here to help, to prove that community is unity in doing this.
Having PERC, PvPec, Justice Radio all together boasting all there events and radio shows at the same time would mean something for everyone all the time. Sprinkle in a few JFA raids in there and I view this as a win/win for the common player to truly experience all of what Justice has to offer.
I hope this explains things a little clearer, I am currently at work so not always at the computer tonight sorry for any grammar issue's doing 3 things at once here. I will try to answer anything you guys have for me, but I can't give a ETR on them tonight.
thanks,

I believe the overall desired effect for the Justice United Channel is an option to the community. A catchall for those that are into everything. The idea isn't to say this channel is better then the rest or even give that impression. The idea isn't to throw a gauntlet at the JFA channels either. If that were the case I would not be involved at all. Below is how I feel about it and how I see it.
I am involved in many communities on the Justice Server. I like to run various events that encompass many different communities within COX. I PvP, I MA, I TF, I Hammi Raid, I broadcast on Justice Radio, Heck I even RP from time to time. I enjoy community events and I enjoy putting together fun events for the community. I am apart of all of this because I want to. JH, JFA, JFA2010, DietJFA were/are all channels that do have the community as a whole in mind.
JU (Justice United) Has a very similar idea but at the outset bringing in people from the various communities to promote those community's and try to add another option for everyone. The idea isn't competition but to compliment what we already have in our community. While currently CS and JFA have very similar goals they have a distinct and unique feel to them. I can say without a doubt that my best hopes for JU is to add to the wonderful community we have on Justice.
I appreciate what your doing as I would love to have one Justice channel for all things, instead of six. I really don't like the name JFA2010 either and Justice United has a nice ring to it. If this doesn't work, then I'll need to petition the devs. the allow us to select more global channels.

No one in this thread has suggested that. He says he doesn't like it, which is not the same as "it should be done away with." he can delete the others and just use one. Doesn't mean everyone has to.
Try taking the chip off your shoulder; i think it's throwing off your balance and perspective.

So, due to your dislike of a name we are supposed to just throw away a channel concept that has served us well for some time now?
What a concept. |
Considering our server's size as well the limits of global channels (like population maximums), there's plenty of room for several large-scale all-in-one channels to suit everyone's tastes. Heck, Chrome Support and JFA co-existing for several years while serving similar purposes proves this point. If Chrome wants to take the extra step to facilitate large-scale event planning by further uniting our community and making communication between various event planning committees/globals go a little more smoothly, I see absolutely nothing wrong with this and am all for it.

As Arwen and I already pointed out earlier, we already have a channel that is for all things on Justice, as the name of the channel indicate - Justice For All.

Just because a channel is called Justice for All or Justice United doesn't mean it caters to what every individual is looking for. If people want to try something new/different/"improved" that caters to their own tastes, that shouldn't be confusing. It happens everywhere every day. (Don't like Coke? Have a Pepsi, an RC Cola, or one of the many other brands. Don't like the news on Fox? Try CNN, FOX, or one of the others. Not a fan of Orcs? Try City of Heroes.) Why would Justice be different?

Honestly I don't think i could say anything better then Missy, Ice and Manoa. I think they define this very well.
I can give you the perspective of someone who joined an event committee as a Justice rep yet had never posted on the boards. I was so afraid to post or ask for things that i didn't ask for things in the MotD's. Eventually I got more comfortable and started PM'ing Quartermain to put stuff in the MotD or I sent Hery a tell but that took a long time for me to do that. So someone new can just go to their fellow group member who is a mod and have it in the MotD and it would be easy for them. Let me clarify though anyone who asks a JFA mod to put an event in the MotD would get it there i am just saying some people might be a bit shy on asking it, just a perception thing.
Not sure if that will make sense to some of the vet's on the forums but maybe someone newer might understand. Justice has a wonderful community it's what makes this a great server, but sometimes it might be intimidating to try to break into this community. Again just a perception thing cause once you start to try you see it has some of the most helpful, knowledgeable and friendly players.
To TJ:
I am not sure there is a way to give a clear answer here because everyone has a different perception. For me JFA and CS have vastly different feels to them. While for many of the Justice vets i think JFA is a all in one channel that is not the case for many. I hope my example of when i first started trying to run events helps explain better. It is all on me and my perceptions and not the channel or it's mods but that is usually the case.
Also I could not agree more with you on the rep system and at least leaving your name or initials.

Let me start off by admitting I'm a nobody, both here on the forums and ingame. I play this game for what it is, a game. Do people piss me off and offend me at times? You betcha. But at the end of the day, i log off, and go back to the real world. Most of what i see from TJs end is alot of drama that happened 2+ years ago when there was massive drama in an older version of JFA2010. Admittedly, i wasnt here for all that, but i have heard about it. Chrome went to extended lengths before ever coming to this forum to mend fences with all he felt were involved with that mess. Does JFA2010 fill the role of what JU is supposed to be? For some, maybe. Alot has changed over my 4 years here. Is JU an attack aimed at JFA20w/e? No. As someone who has known about this move for many months, JFA wasnt even mentioned in anything pertaining to Chromes choice to remake CS. There is more than enough room on Justice server for 2 all inclusive channels. I will say this...
I'm in several channels ingame that have done nothing but rip Chrome a new one when word leaked about the new channel coming. Sadly, it all stems from 2+ year old drama. I respect everyone involved. But heres my thing. Dont let old crap kill a possibly good thing. If you have issues with Chrome, dont vent them here and try to sabotage a good thing ALOT of other people besides chrome are trying to do. No one involved with the building of this new channel ever said 'lets do this to F JFA'.... Dont take old stuff and turn into new stuff....
Thats my 2 cents for what its worth...

You say "Don't let old crap kill a possibly good thing" but thie thing is, in an online environment, in real life, or anywhere else the only thing we have to judge people on are our past interactions with them, which is exactly what I'm doing here, and it isn't limited strictly to Chrome.

In this particular case, you might not want us to do that right now.

What a concept. |
I have to admit I like the name Justice for All, but I should have spoken up more when someone suggested to abbreviate the new channel to JFA2010. Just a bad choice imo. Also, wth is up with all the global channel police when someone talks in Justice for All? People just need to chill out with that. If they are doing it on purpose to annoy me that's one thing, but it comes across like it's there offical job or something to tell me not to chat in the channel anymore.
*Shrug*
I'm not sure what all the controversy is about.
Both JFA and Chrome have large audiences, many of them the same people. Both have them have capped or are close to capping their populations and have decided to move to a new channel to get rid of channel members that no longer play and make room for new members.
You can choose to join one, the other, both, or none. Personally, I am in both and intend to stay that way. I'm usually quiet and keep to myself, but occasionally I'll post a question, or an answer, or an invitation to start one thing or another. Sometimes I'll join a discussion or make a song reference. Every so often someone gets out of hand in one channel or the other, but more often than not, I have to scroll back to find it because I wasn't monitoring the channel.
It's kind of like background noise for me much of the time. I'm not really paying attention to it, but I'm comforted by it being there. It helps me to know that their are other people pecking at their computers and playing this game.
If TJ doesn't like it. That's his right and he doesn't have to join. No one has to convince him. If he changes his mind down the line, I'm sure he will be welcome. On the other hand, I don't think TJ needs to come in here spouting conspiracy theories to put down the channel or its mods.
The old saying is that good fences make good neighbors. Let's try to stay out of each other's backyard and we'll all get along better.

Hello my fellow Justice friends,
Currently, the 3 year old Chrome Support Channel has around 2350+ members. I appreciate all the support that the people have given to this channel and for all the hard work the moderators and community have put in to make it a success. I wanted to wait until well after Champions Online was released to make the following announcement that has been in the works for the past 8 months. With saying that it is with great optimism that I announce that Chrome Support is moving for the better.
What caused this?
Back in May we had an event that we sponsored called "Super Bash 09" that catered to all communities on Justice. It was one of the few events that proved too many that Justice can be unified even if for one night. The event had PvP, PvE, AE arcs, Costume Contests, Radio Shows, PERC, PvPec, Hami leaders being featured in the AE arc, and You Tube promotional video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dN3cGBZVXhI
It really got me to thinking, why not have one place on Justice that has representation for all the communities? Wouldn't it be nice to have one channel that had the leadership and respect from its peers in an unbiased way?
I also believe Ice Knight's Halloween Event tomorrow linky here Will further prove the same, much like Super Bash did as it also will cater to all the communities of the server.
Why change the Chrome Support channel?
Well the answer is this new channel will be more than what Chrome Support was set out to be, it was the first all in one channel. However it was not unified with other channels, it seems that most channels are set in there ways and a community all to themselves. We wanted to break that mold and unite Justice instead of drifting each other further apart. Also to have a platform were ALL communities will have a voice.
This is a way to make sure all that all the big players and communities will be able to voice each of them. I just want to make sure folks stay respectable to each other when using the channel. I have been preaching that for years on Chrome Support.
It will be a channel that all the other community leads can use to come together for server events without bias. Communities such as PERC, PVPEC, Raid leaders, Chrome Support, Justice Radio, MA channel, etc currently have no one channel that has full representation. For the past year I have been aiming for this goal, My reasoning for this is simple, I do not expect people to baby-sit adults, that channel is not for that, but more of a neutral place where folks can keep up with what’s taking place on the server, and not be afraid of participating in ALL of the Justice events and fun.
Example:
Some folks on Chrome Support that may not be on JFA wouldn't know when Hami raids are unless someone happens to speak on Chrome Support... some don't even know about Justice Radio shows without joining Justice Radio or by chance seeing something on another channel, some don't know much about pvp without asking ,some don't know about Chrome Support until someone asks to be unsilenced on JFA lol see the circle here?
In a simplistic way of looking at it, every channel is promoting every channel without knowing it. May as well have one channel that the community can use for this purpose. This channels primary objective is to Unite Justice and all the communites, just like Super Bash proved that it could be done. More or less a one stop shop of all Justice events.
For these reasons, we bring to you the "Justice United" channel.
The Justice United channel rules are simple:
1. Each member is to respect one another; flaming, vulgarity or personal attacks will not be tolerated. This will be a drama free channel much like how we moderate Chrome Support. Please keep in mind that children also play this game and we try to make sure that they everyone in the channel remember that it is a family atmosphere.
2. This will not be a power level with a FEE channel. I know this is less and less of an issue since i14. But power leveling for influence/infamy is to be left on the Justice Power Level channel.
Here are the Moderators for Justice United
(note* since this is a move from Chrome Support to Justice United most of the Chrome Support Moderators will remain Moderators)

Feel free to join the channel Justice you will all be welcomed Also I would like to take a moment in closing to state that I realize in the past things may have gotten off to a rocky start with Chrome Support. I accept blame for my part in it, I have never been one to not voice my opinion on things. But I do feel that if those that still hold a grudge continue to live in the past we will not be able to build towards the future. If for some reason I have hurt any of you during that time and process I sincerely appologize as it was never my intention to do so. I believe this change is a step in the right direction and hope that others will unite and come together to make this a success, like I believe it can and should be.
I have always believed in the meaning of a channel means more than the name, but in this case the meaning and the name complement each other to promote that:
Community is Unity, We are JUSTICE! and UNITED WE STAND!
This move will take place on Monday November 2nd, 2009
I hope to see you all there.
