A note for harassing reputation posters
But the problem with just disabling it, it might make the already crappy boards crappier which pushes people further away from the forums and the game thus decreasing subs and dropping the enjoyment value on this game.
Besides....since when have the devs ever really listened to us when we point out a known problem....Acrobatics anyone????

Take note, take heed, and play nice. Comments like "You need to learn to shut your mouth" and "Lamest person on Liberty" (some of what I've received whenever I post on this forum) aren't cool and are now going to get you modsmacked. |
Great!
I so know how you feel when you get those silly remarks Steele, they get frustration, Good to know the Mods will be modsmacking the repeat offenders. Maybe i'll start posting more often

About darn time, I might be able to post again without negative responds

Alice: "I'm afraid so. You're entirely bonkers, nutter, crazy, But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.

I guess because I have it disabled, I am not sure how people are getting harrassed. So my questions are:
1. when you got negative rep - does it say who from or just their smartbutt comments?
2. same for question for positive rep.
In my opinion, I do not think that forum rep has anything to do with forum posting, but I also don't feel the need to play the built in pseudo popularity contest that these rep meters are encouraging. So I'm not sure that rep merits or demerits actually play any part in the encouragement of people posting or not. And if you are that concerned with getting good reps from posting your opinions - then you should turn it off.
Thanks, NC Soft, for closing my favorite game ever without warning and with plenty of life still left in it, and thus relieving me of the burden of EVER wanting to buy, try or even hear about another game from your company. Will my decision make a dent, or persuade them in anyway, shape or form? Nope, obviously not. Don't care. NC Soft is dead to me. ~ PsyFox

it shows if they gave +rep or -rep and the comment. There should be a default that always shows the poster's name, but there isn't. I almost always leave my name (or just PB for those who know me) +rep or not. If they want to come back and -rep me, well, that's fine. I'm not really playing the "rep" game.
Truthfully it isn't hard to get a lot of rep in no time at all. Turning your rep off means that if you go to post rep it will only show grey and not add or subtract from anyone's total. You can still get + or - rep but you wouldn't know what your total is unless you turn your rep back on.

comments no longer show in the UCP. you can still leave a comment when you post +/- rep, but the user will not be able to see the comment. go figure.

Interesting. It used to work differently. I guess the patch with the new walk feature also changed this!

The general consensus is that too many players were using rep as an insult board to get around forum rules, and the mods had enough of deleting comments filled with profane and vulgar words.
Couple of threads about this already.

It doesn't matter.
To spice things up I used to negative rep myself with cheeky comments using my second account. After a few drinks I'd see it and I'd go nuts trying to figure out who left those comments.
Cool I missed it. But the bit about being able to rep someone with it turned off. I know for a fact that used to work differently.

Just disable it. Problem solved.
