HeroCon Highlights & Photos
Glad you and Somber were able to make it Manoa. TJ would have been a sad puppy without you two there.
It's a shame Jay and his acolyte got so much attention for adding a few new faces while BackAlleyBrawler (on the same panel) was practically ignored for his Power Customization work. I hope he enjoyed the Margarita during Sunday's closing panel. He looked like he was enjoying it at least.
Just thinking about that otter backpack has my side hurting again frojm too much laughter.
Thanks for the photo link.
A few minor corrections:
All corrected now.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.

A few minor corrections: |
Thanks for the corrections. Brain still not fully functioning properly with it being so late and my sleep schedule being all wonky. All fixed! |
Yeah, talk about sleep schedule being wonky, I'm STILL wide awake after getting up at 7 Monday morning.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
Frickit!! Fixed again.
Though the Holy Book of Wiki lists the song as Copacabana and I'm listing it as such.

Frickin' grumble grumble and other expletives! I swear I fixed that during the last go around. Fixed and heading off to grab some sleep.
And from this point forward, no more corrections unless they're factual errors! The grammar Nazi in me cringes to say this, but I don't care about typos at this point!
The best part was meeting so many amazing people! I'm going to upload all my photos right now.

Even though I don't play much and rarely group, it was great to get to meet people I had heard about from Frog. Since I restarted my sub, I may even run into some of you in-game sometime!
Remember kids, reading is fundamental. Especially on the forums.
I had all kinds of fun hanging out with you guys this weekend. Mr.Justice was just Awesome, driving me and Ronnoc around everywhere. The dinner was fun, I got to feed Meg and Ronnoc cheesecake. The Bacon Waffles was one of the greatest experiences in my life. The entire con as a whole was pure Awesome.

The highlight for me was just being there. You guys are all great. Thanks for putting up with me!

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

Additional comment about how awesome the 'con was.

My favorite moments at HeroCon...
Seeing that TJ was able to make it. RG's reaction to his gift artz and signed t-shirt. Justice taking the two highest spots during the trivia contest. Yay Samuraiko and Mekk! Mekk winning the trivia contest and seeing all the cool swag he got! So much stuff, he needed help carrying it all!! RG (aka Mr. Justice) and Marcian (along with Arbiter Fabulous, DJ Shecky and Gothess) getting a free year of COH for going above and beyond to make HeroCon so special. Such a special surprise and so well deserved! As heard at Kubota... Manoa: "DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA!!" Missy: "That's why you're not at my table!" |
Getting to Justice dinner in time to see everyone even though the traffic of three cities was against us!
At the Praetoria sneak peek, listening to the crowd go "aaawww" and "yeaaaah" as the graphics were rolled back and forth.
Posi in his cape. I know he did it last year. I just love that cape.
The beer-pitcher sized dispenser of syrup at Holders (yes i have pictures, yes it did happen)
The hero and villain light up pens that Scimi and I dueled with the whole day...
Getting to see dual pistols in action at the sneak peek.
The Utopia at What Price panel, where the devs thanked Emporer Cole for the water, filled with electrolytes. The whole way they played to the idea that there was only certain things they had permission to say about the government was priceless.
The return of Samuraiko's brownies, the gather for AM table, and the attention it got from non-con goers.
Trying to get a picture of the Justice tables at dinner and realizing ALL the justice folks but me were in line for food.
Being on "team TJ" in the bar during the live event.
Getting a picture with Goober in costume.
Frog stealing someone's drink as he walked up to the stage for the costume contest.
All the jokes people were making during the attempt to get the con picture.
Thinking I had said goodbye to everyone only to find that everyone I said goodbye to I would see four hours later at dinner.
Listening to Scimi on the phone on the way to the restaurant, and after hearing the enthusiastic and energetic greeting he got, going "are you talking to Meg?" only to find out he was!
All in all it was a great time, and over too soon! I was so happy to see folks again, and meet new people too. I miss you folks already, but hope to see you all at hero-con 2010!
Our photos should be up shortly, will post here when I have them.

One of the things that I enjoyed about this year's con is that a number of us have met one another at least once and have gotten past that awkward "getting to know you IRL" phase and seemed far more laid back and let more of their personalities shine this year. It was an absolute blast!
I had a freaking awesome time at the con, and I've already set aside the funds to make sure I can go again next year. So barring any unexpected financial pitfalls, I should be there. I've got to thank Red again for carting around Bob and I the entire weekend. Would have had a much harder time getting around to various Justice fun without him.
There literally wasn't a bad thing about the con for me. The Justice Dinner, Game Night, Bacon Waffles, Team Barfly, The San Fransico Raid, and all the various con panels and activities. All awesome.
My remaining photos will be posted after I get back home. I'm still on the road (in search of big, big, REALLY BIG trees), and getting a decent 'Net (free) connection is hard to find.
I also went dev stalking (gotta catch 'em all). And I think I got them all. I'll have a Visual Guide to the Devs album. So people can put a face (and name) to the Red Names.
And I'm anxious to find out John Hegner's red name. He mention something about us ruing the day we learn his Red Name. (Johns a writer. He's the main writer of most of the Praetoria stuff in Going Rogue)
Thank you very much for posting these, Manoa! My poor judgement and lack of a camera left me wondering if I was ever going to have any way to keep these awesome memories in photographic form.
Thank you all for making my first HeroCon so unbelievably cool. It was a new PC or HeroCon, but I'm definitely glad I picked the latter. I think I know how I'll be spending the end of October next year as well.
Raid Leader of Task Force Vendetta "Steel 70", who defeated the first nine Drop Ships in the Second Rikti War.
70 Heroes, 9 Drop Ships, 7 Minutes. The Aliens never knew what hit them.
Now soloing: GM-Class enemy Adamaster, with a Tanker!
Thanks so much for the photo's Manoa! Now i have something to look back on the con with.
Sorry i never got a chance to hug ya goodbye btw. I just left from the lunch with Trem and gang on Sunday and wasn't thinking that there would be people still at the hotel hanging out.
Lets get the local M&G going again shall we?

My favorite moments at HeroCon...
Seeing that TJ was able to make it. Wouldn't have been the same without ya!
RG's reaction to his gift artz and signed t-shirt. You deserve it!
Eating so much food that it hurt!
"So sayeth the Braxx"
Witnessing the bliss on Bacon Lord Bob's face as he tasted bacon waffles.
Chocolate pancakes. Yum!
Seeing Praetoria for the first time. *drool*
Seeing players try to bribe Sexy Jay into divulging info and/or taking suggestions with booze during the costume panel.
Wondering who the new dev was during one of the panels and then realizing that it was War Witch. Congratulations on your progress (60lbs lost down), you look fabulous!!
Team Snark kickin' *** and taking names (okay, we didn't exactly win, but we still kicked ***).
Making Crazy Old Cat Lady for the action figure challenge (cardboard cutouts and crafts) during the Live Mission Event.
Seeing all the fantastic costumes. Great job all!! Gotta enter next year!
Justice taking the two highest spots during the trivia contest. Yay Samuraiko and Mekk!
Mekk winning the trivia contest and seeing all the cool swag he got! So much stuff, he needed help carrying it all!!
Seeing David Nakayama doing his *gorgeous* sketches again this year. I didn't win any sketches, but it was fun to see him create and to see the joy on players' faces when they won a sketch.
The return of BraxAlley Brawler.
Meg singing Copacabana during karaoke, dancing while he was singing and Justice and Avatea rushing to him at the end of the song to fawn over him (Missy: "Oh my gawd! He touched me!! SQUEEE!!" LOL)
Meg's backrubs. *drool*
Staying up 'till 4:30 in the morning hanging out with folks.
RG (aka Mr. Justice) and Marcian (along with Arbiter Fabulous, DJ Shecky and Gothess) getting a free year of COH for going above and beyond to make HeroCon so special. Such a special surprise and so well deserved!
Going back to Kubota this year. Such yummy food, we just had to visit it again!
As heard at Kubota...
Manoa: "DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA!!"
Missy: "That's why you're not at my table!"
Karo's naughty, naughty otter backpack.
Hanging out with everyone. It was so much fun to see so many familar faces and new faces this year. This is always the *best* part of HeroCon and am so thrilled we were able to make it this year!
