I may be wrong but is it a defeat 10 Fir Bolg in (Misty Woods)
you might have to defeat them in a specific location, check the mission details.

Exactly. You must defeat them in the correct part of the zone. FYI, if you can't find any there, you can 'herd' them to the right area and kill them there and it will count.

Nope. The quest is in Croatoa. The first 7 came off the total there.
Here's the quest text:
All the ones I've defeated that have reduced the defeated total have come from Croatoa, all around the contact. I've beaten a lot more, all around the same area, same spawn points, and the counter stays at 3 to go.
Look at the text in the Missions tab. That will be more precise.
Every zone has neighborhoods, when you enter them you'll get the name of it pop up on your screen and get a peice of music come up. You have to make sure that you're in the New Connaught neighborhood for the firbolg to count. There should be a neighborhood marker on your map to help you. IIRC that one is the bottom left of the Croatoa map.

Ok, finished the quest. For some reason, I logged out, logged back in, and it let me finish the last 3.

Again, it was not the logging out and back in that did it. You had probably started hunting in a new area again, and because the new Fir Bolg were in the correct area, it counted them towards the mission.
You were in the right zone before, but not the right neighborhood.

Agreed with the others who advised you that you were in the wrong neighborhood. The zone "Croatoa" is made up of neighborhoods like "New Connaught", "Misty Woods", Devil's Teeth", etc.
New Connaught has rather few Fir Bolg, and the line between it and the next neighborhood is not clear and is way too easy to cross.

And be advised that other Croatoa contacts will also give you hunts that must be done ONLY in the neighborhood of Croatoa involved.
The Misty Woods is a gerrymandered place to be sure, and getting the folks Miss Nemmers wants can be tricky. The ones you need ALWAYS seem to be just over the border, and if you off them in place, it does not count. So just whack them with a minor attack and flee back over the border. Let them come to you before you finish them. But don't flee too quickly or they won't follow. Dern finicky bad guys!

For Skipper's quest (for future reference), if you hunt them around the pumpkin farm, you are sure to be in the right area.

Well, I have beaten about 50 of them, and the counter is stuck at
"Defeat 3 more Fir Bolg"
Any suggestions?
