Dead PvP
I am the greatest!
The problem with cages is they don't last long enough other than on Doms and Trollers. After that, the problem is there's only one Dom powerset with a cage and it's not terribly common to begin with; Controllers have Grav, Sonic, and FF, and again there's not much point in running an FF or Sonic because of DR on the buffs and mezzes detoggling the repel bubble from FF. 4 seconds on a non-control AT is a joke, and 8 seconds is okay but still not great. If they would remove the immobilize from the cages and standardize the duration at 8, maybe 12, seconds across all versions for all ATs, it might be workable. Get rid of travel suppression and you make Kins useful again, and get rid of the free base resistances (or cut them in half) and you make Sonics useful again. Problem solved.

It's because cages are considered a mez (god knows why, but they are). Still think they need to last like 10 or 12 seconds and be standardized across all ATs, and have the immob removed for PvP, but that's just me.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."

1) PvP sucks - it's horrible.
2) The PvP zones are filled with emo poutraging noobs.
3) That other game has much better PvP.
There are 3 reasons pvp is dead:
1) PvP sucks - it's horrible. 2) The PvP zones are filled with emo poutraging noobs. 3) That other game has much better PvP. |
2) Yes, those are usually the bad players.
3) If by "that other game" you mean CO, I don't find it surprising at all that no one takes you seriously. CO's PvP was pretty imbalanced during beta and it hasn't gotten much better judging by the constant QQ-fest that is the CO PvP forums.

CO pvp looks like i13 but worse :S
CO is like if you leveled your toon all the way to 35 with all PVE, and then the devs nerf your ice blast, but then about two days later after you used your respec, the devs decided to nerf your /cold secondary even more.
OK so you reroll.
You rerolled a toon into a fire/fire, got it to 35 and 2 weeks after, the same cycle repeated itself.
Three times in a row.
Screw CO.
remember how you felt when they nerfed your ice/cold in i13?

PVP isn't too dead it just isn't fun like it used to be, always somebody camping somebody used to be pretty even and there was always action to run into and safely get out of but suppression and everything else they nerfed has destroyed the word "retreat", it doesn't matter if uve played this game for 5 years or 5 mins, everyone needs to retreat sometimes and now unless your real close to your base and even sometimes not then, its very very hard to do.
Isn't everyone already on freedom already?
also does anyone here think that it would be a good idea to kinda merge most of the pvpers into one big supergroup atm i have very many in mine....just so everyone knows whos on and you really CAN plan a 8v8... Reply back plz!

I hate to say it, but a better idea is to stop playing this game and play MW 2 like all the cool kids are doing.

And barrier you never even got to 35, more like 20 tops and that takes a day.
And why would you reroll? They give a full free respec like every week they screw something up.
I'd enjoy playing CO if they had an actual arena system, the random mess they have now is so beta.
Nah they stopped doing this a while ago.

co sent me an email for free reactivation this weekend, too bad i already threw away the dvd.
Travel suppression and heal decay (and more aggravatingly, travel suppression attached to healing) mean that when I phase, if my team isn't around to get my pursuers off me, I'm going all the way back to my base because it's the only way I'm not going to die. It sucks and I hate doing it, but them's the breaks.
On CO: CO's PvP system has the potential to be quite a bit better than our current PvP system. I thought it was fun when I tried it during beta, but I didn't bother to sub right away at launch. However, it's still early in that game's lifespan and the "balance" hammer is swingin' away at everything it can hit - the changes to powers and mechanics in CO right now remind me of Issues 4-6 here, but once that initial balancing stage is done, things could be decent. If the devs' attention to PvP during Going Rogue turns into "I13 2.0," I'll more than likely give CO a try.

the dude is way wrong.
pre-i13 we had arena matches almost every night that there weren't practice matches scheduled on test...
i can't count how many late nights were spent the circle of badness known as UJL and DR sitting in pocket d, pvping badly.
