Reflection effects... For Players!!!!!
To be fair, being able to alter base character opacity at least somewhat (say, from 100% down to about 80%) would actually be pretty cool. I'd actually go for full control all the way down to nothing, because I'm fairly certain going around with just your aura and your powers might be interesting, but I suspect that would be a step too far.
Still, allowing us to go naturally transparent might be cool.

The only thing I'd say is that, like all costume/aura effects, this should have zero gameplay effect. This would be difficult to justify in the mind sometimes, perhaps - why are these guys aggroing on my character when he's completely invisible? - but on the other hand, we've already got the converse in play. My main guy Cap goes completely unnoticed by big groups of (e.g.) Council guys when he's standing in their midst with a full-body blue aura glowing outside his Cloaking Device field and the blazing light of Super Speed around his feet, which makes just as little sense.
As I'm recalling, visually the stealth IO gives more of a translucent effect (on its own) than Stealth. Been a while though.
For actually being invisible I think superior invisibility from illusions does the best.
Hmm... You know, I think I have to retract my "full transparency" idea and instead replace it with this - aura costume pieces. Not auras ON TOP of costume pieces. Auras INSTEAD OF costume pieces. Like, you have no upper arms at all, just fire where they should have been. Or you have no head, just a glow. That opens up a lot of possibilities.

"Samual_Tow - Be disappointed all you want, people. You just don't appreciate the miracles that are taking place here."
I'd still love transparency effects. I'd roll up a ghost character in an instant.
Never surrender! Never give up!
Help keep Paragon City alive with the unofficial City of Heroes Tabletop Role Playing Game!
On the topic of aura's. I want weapon/pattern aura's!
Patter Auras: Making things like the Circuitry Pattern glow.
Weapon Auras: Something like what Carnies have. I'd love Dual Blades with an aura similar to a Spectral Phantom around them
Didn't there used to be a texture bug with Flack Jacket that would make a character's torso invisible? That was a hoot.

I loved that bug. I still have it on a couple of characters

No legs, no face, hovering limbs (think hollow armour) all those sorts of ideas...so very cool, and would be so awesome to have.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

That would be awesome!
Hmm, kind of like the Tier9 in Elec Armor, but you could choose the aura style/color, ect..
That would be awesome! |
Or, heck, let's be creative and go the other way - metal helmet, metal boots, metal gloves, aura upper and lower body. Kind of like an elemental feeding into the "end effectors" of a power armour suit. I already have something a bit like this, with a character made of essentially raw meat coming out of a metal helmet.
I think that would open a LOT of possibilities.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

That being said, I read this post and would have to agree with him that some form of slider scale would be useful to control player opacity. That way power selection isn't required to make your character thematically correct. It wouldn't mean I'd get rid of stealth on my SR scrapper, I happen to like it there, but I would possibly have other characters make use of this feature.
Like that, yes. And I wouldn't restrict it to full-body-only. I'd put options like this in all general costume categories, like aura gloves, aura boots, aura chest, aura head and so on. And if you want to be completely made of auras? Easy! Pick Aura everything and avoid using belts and shoulders. Or don't! Go all aura and use a belt, a chest plate and a pair of goggles. That'd be cool, too.

I was testing out the reflection effects in the MA as a fly sub, and it occoured to me, why can't players have this.
It would be soo amazingly awesome to have a set of Semi transparent aura effects. The great thing about this is it wouldn't end up being another *Wines* I can't see my costume *cries* type tantrum thingy because it would only be semi transparent and would add to the costume.
i've always wanted to make a ghost character
