Unless you're the Envoy of Shadow.

Back on topic, keep the system, tag reps with names of the repper and if you don't like them, turn them off. The option is right there.

I am sick of the stupid comments people make in them. If the star system had to go, this has to go with extreme violence.
...talk to a mod to have it removed? leaving rude/crude messages in rep comments are as much subject to removal and punishment as posts are, since nobody is anonymous to the moderators. You can also minimize the window area where reps are so you don't see them when you go into your user cp

EDIT: Pondering it further, I'd be ok with the comments being autotagged with the sender's name. I'm still against removal of the system.
Says the guy with a **** ton of rep lol.

I'm only ladylike when compared to my sister.

I'm all for getting rid of it. The sooner the better.

I think rep should be kept. It gives people an incentive to be nice in their posts, and not to be rude. It also helps us distinguish the good guys from the bad guys (the ones with red rep)

this thread seems very neg-rep heavy, what abotu positive rep.

i have pos-reped a few people and never neg repped anyone, i think it's a good way to give back to people who have helped you =) tho it doesn't really do anything =P

I think a more amusing, if perhaps unproductive, addition would be to not only allow the user to see who posted the rep comment, but to allow others to view the rep comments and who left them via the "view public profile" page.

It wouldn't make the reputation system any more informative, but it would probably cut out some of the idiocy that people are willing to say only when they know no one can respond.

Its impossible for me to find a logical explanation for an anonymous reputation system.

Words always hurt.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

That was never true, and anyone who thinks it is is deluding themselves. In bullying, the names are the real cause of psychological harm.

Or do I need to link to all the stories where verbal (and only verbal) bullying lead to suicide?

Positive comments, if you feel like you have to say something without adding it to a thread, can always be sent through the PM system. (I generally see this happen in reply to guides - 'thank you' notes and the like - though it has happened with other posts, for me, as well.)

I also find it amusing that people are using the OTHER two anonymous systems with this thread - the stars and the tags.

Wait!

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but please remember Columbine.

Whoops!

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but a wrong word invites a drive-by.

Seriously though (well, more seriously than I was being), this is supposed to be a game. You know, FUN. The kind of abuse coming across in this rep system detract from this. Sometimes drastically.

What's more, it's discouragement from participating in the online community here. As niche as the forumite community is, anything that is detrimental to community participation should raise a warning flag for the mods.

Community, forumite or otherwise, is one of the things that KEEPS this game going, five-plus years and more after it's release.

So I'm deluding myself every time I laugh my backside off at the failures at life who see fit to hurl such verbal abuse my way? Quick, call the funny farm pronto!

My entire school life was spent at the receiving end of bullies. 8 years after leaving, I'm still alive and kicking. I haven't thrown myself into traffic, slit my wrists, hung myself or whatever's the preferred method of topping oneself these days. And I am FAR from delusional.

Niether have I.
That doesn't mean I wouldn't go to town on the little bugs who made my school life absolutely bleeding miserable.

You're never going to get any headway on that one with me, CD. Some things you just can't laugh at.

Someone thinks I was trying to get a laugh out of this. Now THAT is funny!

Which star system?

I'm only asking because I totally 1-starred this thread.

While I prefer people had fortitude to say who they were (Ive postive repped people who negative repped me for it before.) I usually laugh at how weak they are, as they dont have guts say what they think on the internet where I have no idea who they are in first place....thats truly sad. I'm starting think people on forums are scared of me or something haha.

I tend leave my intials at end of comments I leave the majority of the time (save for i accidentally clicked before doing it )I want people know its me when I decide bring down the hammer. But I tend leave full frontal text assaults in topics heh. Long winded as heck, but when Im done you got the message I was getting at.

I leave it going as I think its more amusing for those who disrespect me to know someone actually proves the things I say and disagrees with them too.(I see fair number of green or grey posts among the red marks.) I know Im going ruffle feathers and not follow the crowd,(usually cause I refuse overrate and worship something the masses do.) and Im not afraid do it as I can revel in it at times heh.

No matter how badly I get shot up, I seem bounce back to green. I might be an arguementative scroundel who says things you dont wanna hear...but theres usually some truth it all and a point. You can try invalidate me all you want, but you haven't invalidated my point.

I figure if people lacked courage openly oppose my thoughts then Id rather they gave me feedback of sorts. Even if they did just simply add the comments they sent me, it likely just derail the thread into a wizzing contest, as all crap stays off radar. Alot of times they dont even reply in thread to what I said, so it just keeps chugging along. I just take as they dont truly have a leg stand on or are too lazy bother..so either way Ive won this round hehe. I mean in debate teams they basically end it when people turn namecalling, I view this the same way.

Whether it goes or not I don't care. I never plan change what I say based off it's existence or lack of. I do what I always do. (though I wonder if it always existed would I driven my rep into gutter or would actually be higher heh as Ive been around since beta.) Nothing anyone said to me kept me up at night. And boy has there been plenty.

Theres plenty of rep padding going on that this sentiment doesnt hold alot of water. If their rep tanks so badly they can just hide it with the disable feature. (assuming they even care.)
