Power customization = bad for PvP

Better watch out max, the devs might actually like that idea. Remember the anti gank code?
One positive I see for power customization in PvP is the ability to "mark" targets that are caged. (ie different color dimension shift, blackhole, and the sonic/FF cage bubble.) May allow your team to not waste attacks and move quickly to other targets.

People don't use cages in zone PvP. Well, not regularly at least. Could be because FF and sonic powersets has been turned to wastes of space, so nobody in their right mind would play one.
And in case you didn't know, team arena PvP is completely dead, thanks to the devs' extensive efforts to kill it. So yeah, caging is a total non-issue these days.
Btw, I can't believe the PvE carebears aren't complaining about this all over the place. I got some therm buffs from someone that made his therm powerset black. And it made my toon basically invisible...could not see the costume at all. I'd imagine lots of carebears seeing that as griefing and complaining about it.

On the original topic: I find it rather far-fetched to assume that new players usually did recognize each power and thus deduct archetype and powersets from the look of it and then use a strategy specially tailored against this combination of powers, and now are doomed because they cant do that anymore.
Really new players likely haven't even seen a lot of powers before, and since they are new to PvP they clearly never fought against them, so I'd say it makes much less difference to them if they are hit by a green or red ominous power that stuns them than to the experienced PvPers that know all the powers and how to react to them.
I'd even go so far to claim that it gives really new players that dont know all the powers and thus cant tell what just attacked them an advantage compared to before, as now more experienced players have similar problems.
On PvP in general: Yes, it has lots of problems, and different-colored powers are surely the least of them. Rather that there's not really something in it, the zones are small and mostly generic. I'd also sign that it is not end game content since there's only one zone where you can PvP without having some of your powers stripped and are prone to weird exemplaring effects.
Warburg is at least moderately exciting, but it also isnt level 50 content, and I dont see why there's no truely free-for-all zone where Heroes and Villains can team in PvP, now that there are so many co-op zone where they work together.
Fixed because I love playing against Stalkers now.
Getting rid of the one-shot code for PvP was necessary, though I'm sure you felt awesome when you killed squishies in one shot and they didn't have a chance to fight back. |
EM/Nin/Soul, running 55% damage bonus in I12, 2 damage procs in Blinding powder, BU+BP+AS. AS =~= 1300-1500 proc dependant. Plus I always qued up Dark Blast, adding another 250-350 damage, So honestly, it didn't matter, DB had the animation of the old ET, meaning that a regen would die in relatively the same way if he held still.
>(Correct me if I am wrong, but I seem to remember procs in AS counting as seperate damage packets, bypassing the 1 shot code, becuase that was what I perceived as happening and was what I was refering to in my original comment)<
Yup, procs (and DoT's) count as separate damage arrangements, so they could bybass the one-shot code. Also how Fire Blasters could one shot with inferno.
"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict
So with the theme of I13 in mind, I suggest we balance the playing field. Anybody on a team should get a -50% damage debuff, as well as slowed recharge. Perhaps throw in a new feature I call auto death. If you're on a team and you haven't died in 10 minutes, you are killed automatically.
I think this would make the game more fair and keep those damn cheaters from teaming up. Everybody will have to fight like tru warier.
Thoughts?
The idea is to benefit from teammates not automatically win. There isn't an AT in the game that couldn't set up the target for an ez AS.
I really don't give a sh*t about solo performance tbh
I think returning it to 6x was a nostalgia comment and not made in seriousness. If you honestly think that would be good for the environment then give your head a shake.
