GR Closed Beta... ever?

I'm not a US citizen (though I subscribe to the US version of City of Heroes) and I got into CoV Beta. I've no doubt we'll eventually get into GR Beta, as well. From what I've seen of past events like this one, the US citizenship restriction has to do with HeroCon and how spots are awarded there, rather than with a general policy of requiring US citizenship. As with almost all contests in the past, if a reward of any kind is given, only US citizens are applicable, even if it's entirely electronic.

However, even though I suspect I'll get into Beta at some point, myself, I fully realise that my contribution wouldn't be major. I'm pretty bad at testing games, because I always have the tendency to play what I like and have fun, rather than play what I dislike and is obviously broken just to look for ways to fix it. I could offer introspective on problems I see, but I know how little that matters in the long run. Really, beta-testing a game, if you want to do a good job, is just that - a job.

What the lady said. The Hero-Con Closed Beta access is just another way to get into it. There certainly is going to be a European Closed Beta for Going Rogue since we also have a European Loyalty program

Just for the record, you're wrong. At around the same time as I started playing the CoH EU Beta, I won an entry into the Matrix Online beta. My non-US citizenship was not an issue for the US competition, though my credit card issued from a bank they had never heard of was, they were unable to verify how old I was and I never played the game. (Thankfully... a few days later, CoH beta started and I was much happier ending up with CoH as my first MMO than I think I would have been when faced with MxO.)

It all depends on how you want to deal with the situation and how you want to frame things.

Will we be seeing you at HeroCon, btw? (Where 'we' means 'I' in this case. Still haven't discovered anyone else from the EU servers who's going. Should I bring a placard? "EU Server Representative Here!" That kind of thing?)

I think those of us that are stuck doing vendor testing for a living are always going to scratch our head in wonder over people that do it for fun. (but I'm extremely grateful to all of them for doing it.)

I wanted to get on the test server the other day and started cracking up when the first patch being applied started with 2006.

Can somebody explain to me that when you first start patchin the test server it says something like 2 hours but after say 30 minutes the remaining time dissapears and then kaplow! test server is patched
