AE Desk mission doors
Yes, unfortunately the devs listed a receptionist at the AE bldg as a "door" on their list of mission doors for Founders. You can click on the receptionist as much as you like, but she doesn't let you enter the mission.
I was with a team doing an arc in Founders a day or two ago, and we ran into the bug. We had to petition a GM to fix it, which involved sitting around for about half an hour (we were doing an arc in ouro).
It sucks, and they should fix it, but I don't know if or when they will get around to it. It's probably not real high on their list of things to do.

It's probably just a case of someone forgetting to remove old mission entrances (doors covered up when the MA buildings were put in) from the database so every now and again you get something like this. It's quite surprising it happened twice in a row, though.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
I'm just curious if others are getting this same experience.
I've only noticed it in FF, but four times now, I've had to drop Police Scanner missions because the mission door waypoint took me to the AE desk. Of course the AE desk isn't a door, and so I can't enter or run the mission. It happened to me two missions in a row tonight. First one I dropped as a bugged mission, second one I had to petition, and got a GM to help me out. Either way, it's rather annoying, and I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem. Also, I did /bug the mission, and the behavior, as well as petitioned it, so that's covered already. ;-) |
Also, Brickstown has the same AE desk problem.
As does IP.
Last night on a Manticore TF we ran into that very same bug... the mission door was located right in front of the AE building. We had to stand around and wait 35 minutes for a GM to fix the problem. Obviously it was pointed at a door in the building that AE replaced.
I'm no programmer, but it would seem to be an easy thing to run a script that would eliminate reference to an invalid door from all missions. Even allowing for the bugged door it's still inexcusable for it to take 35 minutes to get the issue addressed so we could continue the TF. We actually had to send a second petition at the 30 minute mark and strangely we had a GM within 5 minutes. If I'd known that I'd have sent the second one much sooner.

What happened was that there USED TO BE a door there - but they tore out the building and put in the AE building. And someone forgot to remove the now-missing door from the list of mission doors. Still an error on their part, but just forgetting to update a list.
I've also gotten a mission door just OUTSIDE the AE building, perhaps 20 ft from the front door, where there is only blank pavement. Same situation (this was in another zone).

i make stuff...
I sure hope you guys that are running into this are submitting /bug reports.

Supposed to apprehend Nosferatu & Guards, instead ended up at the MA desk.
Dropped it and moved on....hopefully they'll fix it quick because I can see it getting REALLY annoying if you're running a lot of missions in FF.

To be fair, what they actually did do was also pretty stupid, but in an entirely different way.

Had this happen SIX TIMES in TWO DAYS this weekend.
FYI I found I got the speediest response/resolution if I put the NAME of the mish, and who gave it (Radios for me) in the body of your Petition, and selected the "Stuck" button rather than the default "General" button.
What really sucked was I dropped/canceled one, then it happened again so I couldn't cancel it 'cause I had reached my "limit", so HAD to wait for a GM to fix it before I could run ANY Radio mishes in ANY zone.
Not a real biggie, used the time to clear a couple Fed-Ex mish I had lying around taking up space on my mish list.

To me, not being able to enter or finish your mission certainly qualifies as being "stuck". lol
"Stuck" is what I've always used if I was in need of immediate assistance in-game. I think that people use General too much and then complain that they aren't getting results, then log off before help arrives, which is just a waste of time for everybody involved.

Thinking it over in the last 5 years I've only had to petition one person for behavior; that was while I was running a lowbie on Freedom and some tool decided to follow me around pulling +5 mobs into my level 6-7 baby defender. He'd pull mobs until he made sure I was dead, then fly to the hospital to follow me again all the while bombarding broadcast with his immense uberness. Coincidence? Or a valid reason to avoid Freedom?

He was the only flagrant griefer I encountered on Freedom but I did encounter lots of rude and childish players. That's a large part of why I play on Guardian & Pinnacle; the playerbase there is more mature.
Admittedly a person's behavior has to be extremely bad before I'd report them; it requires more than simple annoying tells as /ignore works fine for that and I have a fairly thick skin.
Ah, I just remembered a couple of idiots from the old Hami raids who got petitioned for pulling GM's into the hold group; I'd forgotten about them. As I recall they got petitioned by 100+ players for those stunts.
