Nintendo Hard
Contra and one of the Mega Mans, I can't remember which one, but I remember one of the older bosses kickin the crap outta me a long time ago.
On my 360, I think the hardest game I've come across is Resident Evil 5. I never seem to have enough ammo and the damn zombies never stay dead. Playing late at night with all the lights off doesn't help either. But damn, for some reason it takes a long time for me to beat.
Resident Evil 5. To me, it wasn't as scary as the others. I guess that was because it was more action oriented. Good game, nonetheless.
Ohh...Nintendo Hard Resident Evil moment: Beating "Mercenary Mode" on RE3 with Nicolai
I beat Deadly Towers. Once. I will not beat it again. Ever.
The game is so full of suck that you think the ending would have been any good. It's not. The game sucks. Bad. It's not Nintendo Hard. I wonder why it got the Nintendo Seal of Quality. Seems that the requirement to get to the Seal of Quality has gone down. Now for the Wii it seems like it just needs to fit in the slot.

Batman
Sure, it started nice and easy...but by level 3 it was INSANITY.
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts and Gradius III are the games I most distinctly remember as being ridiculously hard, especially when I was a kid. I always came back to them for another beating, though.
I never really had that much trouble with the NES games besides one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle games (I forget which one,) oddly.

Know what game I really loved was Spy Vs Spy. It was awesome! Not really sure what the object was, was too young, just remembered planting traps on each other and trying to get a brief case out or something.
I've beaten Battletoads and Contra, both without codes/warps.
Bayou Billy was a different matter. As was Deadly Towers. |
No one I know has ever beaten Battletoads though.

I don't know how long I played it for before I beat it, but it had to have been at least a year. I just remember getting it in one school year before a friend of mine had moved away and beating it after they had moved back the following year.
I've gone through Mega Man 1-5, but not 6. Simply never got a hold of a copy for long enough to do so.
"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict
Nintendo hard is one thing.
Nethack hard is another. :P

Gradius 3.
If you've ever played it, you know EXACTLY what's up there.
Out Of THis World.
Never beat that freaking game...
And yeah, Gradius 3. YOu finally get all those wicked powerups and then you DIE... Good luck getting themback again with 80 bullets on the screen at once.
