Turning off the custom colors "I" see
I still don't see how this would be any different from being able to turn off other people's costumes. I've seen plenty of awful costumes, been on teams with them. If you can deal with bad costumes you can deal with bad colors.
"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill
We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...
You can't spam bad costumes. You can spam ID, SB, heals, buffs, hot pink shields, etc.
I think it is a bit different.
But I do agree there are a fair amount of bad costumes out there, I have probably created most of 'em.

It would really increase my enjoyment of the game.
So /signed on the idea of being able to turn off other players' costumes.
Totally unofficial, but here's a bit of chat log from yesterday you may be interested in:
[VU2009]V: Oh geeze. Blue shields... *clears throat* So....when do we get that button to cut off friendly buffs?
[VU2009]Back Alley Brawler: system for unwanted buffs is being looked into
[VU2009]E: omg good...
[VU2009]V: Spectacular!
[VU2009]E: someoen hit me with a god-ugly speed boost earlier
[VU2009]S: Oh that is good news. Some people will love that.
[VU2009]K: Wait, I just logged on. o_o
[VU2009]B: Nice! Thanks BAB
[VU2009]E: i looked like i was farting while i ran XD
[VU2009]Back Alley Brawler: wasn't something we felt necessary to hold up I16
"Mastermind Pets operate...differently, and aren't as easily fixed. Especially the Bruiser. I want to take him out behind the woodshed and pull an "old yeller" on him at times." - Castle
Sounds reasonable.
I think Fitz Simmons has a point about people being able to "grief" with weird power color choices but I also agree with BAB that this is hardly a serious enough problem to have held up I16 for. I'm sure this is happening in some cases but just like the few people who have dumb costumes or the few people who like to try to clone famous characters I'm quite sure the number of people who are intentionally trying to grief people with bad power colors are actually relatively small.
I can certainly wait some weeks or even months without having some kind of power color filter available. At best I would see it as a low priority QoL improvement that would eventually happen for the few people who have problems with it. When a filter like this does become available I probably won't use it myself because abuses like this will likely die down on their own regardless. People are playing with a new toy and soon most won't bother going out of their way to be silly like this. *shrugs*

your damned if you do and your damned if you dont
A no buffs option would be awesome - I don't like Speed Boost - it makes me run into walls - and that ice armor stuff is just plain ugly

That aside.. The 'default colors' option is TOTALLY /signed.
I probably wouldn't use it, at least not often.
What I would love to see is 4 options.
Custom colors:
Always off
Always on
Always on, except those I select
Always off, except self and those I select
Basically if you had either of the 'except those I select' options selected, you when you right-clicked a player, the context menu would have an option of "turn default colors on/off" which would allow us to still see Awesome Hero Bob's cool color scheme, but not be blinded by Greifer George's neon pink/neon green buffs.
Any GOOD buffer listens when people say "no buffs" >.> (I join a team as my /kin, first thing I ask is "Does anyone NOT want SB?")

The biggest problem with buffs are the jerks that use them to disrupt social gatherings.
My two personal favorite buff blocking features would be either
A small window similar to /hide where we can select when we are willing to accept buffs. They could even go so far as let us pick which buffs we'll accept. The last part is pushing it tho.
Or a pop up window like Mystic Fortune has so we can either accept the buff or it fails to go off.

An option to "only accept buffs from *group*" would be neat, too.

Well it would have it I wasn't a Cold/Ice Defender with the default shields who proceeded to undo his nice work with my default, pig ugly Ice Shields plonked on top of his
I posted part of this in the Technical Issues and bugs section but am reposting it here. I don't know how to move it.
So I apologize for cross-posting in advance.
Anyway I'd like to see an option to default the game's power colors.
Not everyone is going to make great color choices and others may want to make outrageous choices on purpose. Hot pink fire blasts or kin buffs are examples of this.
Well this type of thing can wear on the eyes after a while and my eyesight is OK.
Think of it as a profaniy filter for colors. Or chat colors can be another example of this. We have the option to turn 'em off. I only had to do this once when a teammate had a pink chat balloon with purple text in it. It was too much.
Thanks and regards,
Fitz
