Unnnnh.

Being driven insane again. Can any nice peeps here help me?

I'm trying to sign up to Aion to get involved in this new game. I'm not leaving CoX, I wanna play both.

The problem is (as always grr) I am in the UK and need the USA version of the game. The PlayNC store keeps re-directing me to the stupid European pack and when I try to get around that by using a proxy my paypal account won't work.

Is anyone else here going to play Aion? Any advice on how I can get my hands on a USA key (Collectors edition + preorder so I can get all the extra items please)?

Any help would be appreciated muchly!

I hate how this happens every single time. CoX, AoC, TR and now this too. Why can't I just buy the USA version directly (for AoC I had to buy the damn game when I was on holiday in the USA to get my Rhino code!).

Um, shot in the dark here, but try looking at the online stores for US retailers?

Or you could, you know, move across the pond and make it easy on yourself

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

I'm planning on playing Aion too with a few other people. Not Leaving CoX just ... wanna give it a shot as well. PM me and I'll see what I can do for ya.

It looks good, a couple good coh friends are planning on playing it,so I might play Aion. But I'm uber worried about the time sap. I'm finally finding room to do other things in my life and don't want that taken away! Needless to say I don't think I could do 2 MMOs

After reading your sig, I would say you could do 5 MMOs.

If only it were that simple! They refuse to sell games to people outside the USA :/

Aion is a LOT like WOW. I mean...alot. I only tried Wow for like a week and couldn't stand it but I have a very vivid memory of it. However the graphics in Aion, the OMG WEATHER is so cool that it was actually very enjoyable to play the other night when I tried it.

What I absolutely did not like about it is levels 1-5 (which is what me and a friend achieved) had absolutely no incentive for teaming. (Hopefully at some point that will change because without teamage there is no point in playing an MMORPG to me.) There was nothing we did that couldn't have just as easily, been done solo. The instant duels / pvp was kick *** though.

Just like CO, Aion could not possibly replace COH for me, but was a refreshing change for a few hours.

I tried the closed beta and got to lvl 20 and your right, in the first few level you don't need to team.. AT ALL

but once you get your wings and start in the real world, then you see that teaming is good and at lvl 14 you start getting mission where you don't have a choice and need to team to complete it.

Also around lvl 20, when you start getting into PVP the game totally change. As much as I don't like PvP in CoH.. I'm intrigued by the one in Aion and do plan on trying it more...

Just wondering, what makes it that much like WoW? Control scheme and such, or is it just that they're both "sword and sorcery" style MMOs. I ask because I haven't had a chance to try Aion, and I've been looking forward to trying it for a little while, but if its that similar to WoW it may dissuade me.

Well I never liked WoW yet I seem to enjoy Aion.

It does have the same control scheme and it is a sword and sorcery but there is something different about Aion.

1- the wings are nice, they can help you glide around the map and get to certain point at a way faster rate than running

2- the storyline is great. when I tried WoW, I didn't know there was a story.. it was never cleared what I was doing or why. While in Aion, you know from the start (lvl 9) why your fighting and why you are making a part of the story

3- the graphic... I can't put enough emphasis on that they are just GREAT!!!!

4- the combat engine is fun, the skills that unlock on certain action is a nice feature. It gets time to get use to it coming from CoH but it's not hard to get.

5- the PvP is fun ( and this is coming from someone who doesn't really like PvP in CoH...)

6- the PvPvE zones are insane. having to watch out for the Balaur and the enemy faction makes it fun and challenging. ( you don't have to PvP and can go just for the PvE content but I haven't tried that yet lol)

now there are things that were annoying me: WoW players is a big part of it ( they aren't there to help or play but be the best and bash everyone else...)

the camera can be annoying at times but I got used to it ( now coming back to CoH was hard after) although this should be fixed in the 1.5 patch they released that I didn't try.

Spawn point camping... I guess I'm just spoiled by CoH and the full instance gameplay...

But the best way to know is to try it, they currently have an open beta runing until the 15 so you can get a key and download the game and try for yourself ( fileplanet is giiving away keys lol)

Looks cool, I like the landscapes and character designs. It does bear a small resemblance to WoW in some landscapes, but not much. I only have one question... Can I play open beta for free?

OMG downloading right now XD

Graphically, the game is pretty sick.

The screams from the haters, it's got a nice ring to it.
I guess every super hero needs his theme music .."

Well I only played Wow a week, well not even, maybe 10 hours tops. I specifically remember when I did play it ...looting dead bodies, having a lot of country terrain, killing stuff at a farm, walking very slow and far. I remember the power trays being very similar to Aion. I remember looting different armor or weapons from kills and not being able to use them without training for them. I remember the whole Mages, warriors, scouts type of characters. I also remember not having a lot of character customization available. Unless I am not understanding how to make my character it was the similar in Aion, not as bad as WOW though. There is a lot more I could list but I will just say its similar in playstyle to me. Of course I am talking about 10 hours of Wow and comparing it to about 5 hours/5 levels of Aion so far. So I could be off with my first impressions.

I didn't like WOW at all, and I enjoyed Aion. So I wouldn't let it being similar keep you from trying it.

Ah, fair enough, those are pretty typical of your sword and sorcery MMOs so I expected that to some extent.

Did anyone find out if we can turn off that inane squealing and squawking the character does in combat nearly every time you click a power?

Hiya again.

Thanks for the nifty help. Sadly, NCSoft refused to sell me a copy of the USA version of Aion so I used the sage advice of a nice boards member to get a copy from a US store that doesn't mind selling to UK peeps.

Or at least I think they don't mind. I haven't actually received the code yet... -_-

Anyways, I will now stop drawing worshipfulness away from this kewl game and hope to see a few Champs at the other kewl game soon
