Weapon holding emotes

Like the kind you can assign to NPCs in the MA.. emotes that would allow you to stand in a neutral position while holding your weapon out without being in combat mode.

Do want.

They probably wouldn't do this, because you could use those emotes to spoof a different powerset in a PVP zone, just like you can't turn off certain FX in i16 because there needs to be a visual indication that certain buffs are in place.

But we do need access to more of the emotes that NPCs use.

This unfortunately can't work. Player emotes work different from NPC 'emotes' (internally they're called AnimLists) in a crucial way that makes it possible for NPCs to have a custom weapon or custom shield visible

I was afraid of that.

Okay Babs this might be a 2 part answer that might require Castle to chime in on. How about this..

What if we had a Combat on/combat off button that does the build up animation (which normally takes out the weapon (claws, spines, etc) Note* allow it to give a zero damage buff. However, once combat on is on it by passes the need for redraw on other powers.

The second part to this if there is a way to program the animations of all the powers in the set to bypass the first action, which is to draw out the weapon (spine, claws, BS, kat, mace, axe, etc) (or what ever step it is for redrawing the weapon)

Having a combat on/off click button might be a good way around the redraw animation issue, however I am not sure if something of that nature would be possible with this current system. It might require an overhaul of all the weapon animations to take out the first step of redrawing the weapon.

This is just an honest question, not sure if its possible, however I would like your input on it

Might make for odd effects if you have a character with two different 'weapons'. Like TA/AR defender (unless the system won't allow that?). Could also lead to issues with temp/inherent powers?

I dunno, just a thought. I do agree that I'd like the ability to keep my weapons out >.>

BaBs, if I16 has taught the community one thing, it should have taught them never to say "can't be done" when talking about you and the rest of the dev team. As you know, many a dev has previously spoken about the impossibility of power customization.

Technically, he didn't say it can't be done. Just that that particular request isn't feasible the way it was requested. They can't 'give' us NPC emotes because NPCs don't use emotes.

That's not saying they can't ever create emotes that look like the NPC ones and then give them to us.

Right. Like everything that developers say when discussing software, the unstated assumption is:

"Unfortunately, that can't work [the way the software is coded right now. If we change the software we could do it, but we have a ton of other stuff that has higher priority. So we'll put it on the list of other stuff people want.]"

A lot of the time things like this become possible when changes are made to accommodate some other requirement, so it may happen before the priorities indicate it will.

Never underestimate the ability of a large community to persist false truths.

The devs never said power customization couldn't be done. They said it would take a lot of work and more resources than they previously had available. The dev team used to be 15 people. Now it's what, 45 or something? Do the math.
