/Rock Armor?

I've been looking at secondaries for my claws brute that I'm going to make, and I can't decide between a few sets. Super reflexes, /Elec (Which seems everyone will be making), and /Rock Armor (not a lot of rock brutes that I've seen..)

So I was wondering, is rock armor any good? With the slow movement and recharge in granite, is it worth taking on the set?

Rock armor cost a lot of influence to overcome the penalties of granite. Many would say that your money will go a lot further in other secondaries but I would say that it is the most amazing secondary out there. I have spent well over 2 billion on my build and he is an unstopable killing machine.

Alright, thanks.

Stone armor is very durable, but I find the costs outweigh the benefits for my playstyle.
Aesthetically, I can't forgive stone armor. I would personally rather invest more into /inv or /wp and have similar results. Still, a /stone can be made quite sturdy. Unfortunately, you will spend a good amount of inf. bringing /stone up to the lvl of dmg and rech that most other sets have out of the box.

Pros
- durable
- durable
- durable

Cons
- ugly
- end heavy
- ugly
- won't shine 'til granite
- ugly
- slow/probable unhealthy codependence on SB
- recharge defecit
- and ugly

Words to the wise aren't necessary- it's the stupid ones that need them.

"You're right...I forgot...being constantly at or the near the damage cap is a big turn off. Definitely not worth it."

While I can agree that it's not the best looking it definitely can shine pre granite. In fact my current build I'm working on can go without granite. Soft capped s/l damage.. Near softcap neg/energy defense.. High fire/cold defense.. 30%s/l resistance... And regens health at 60hp/sec. On top of that I still have granite fully slotted for special situations.

I personally like the crystal option. I just wish you could do the same with granite/ tent granite.

Well, as to the original post, there are tons of /stone brutes out there.

They want a brute that plays like a tank. No other real reason for rolling a /stone brute. Your damage is gimped, you are slow as a snail, and you have no vertical movement.

With enough influence, you can overcome the movement speed and the recharge. You can get back up to base damage as well. You still can't jump.

So, yeah, you can put out decent damage, but nothing like a brute with any other secondary.

Now, without granite, you can still be relatively solid, your damage is no longer gimped, but, you are still slow, and you still can't jump.

Dark Armor is like that kid you knew in school that didn't know when to shut up, and no matter how bad he got beaten down, he got right back up again and kept on talking.

Plenty of IO's to negate the speed problem. Mine is actually faster than most people running with swift. Then there is the fastest travel power in the game, teleport.

Seeing as how /Stone Armor can't use claws...

If you have lots of influence to spend for IOs, id say go /ELA.

If you don't /SR.

Or come up with a concept and roll with it

ElA looks like it will be decent, but seriously, Claws will work well with just about anything. Is one of the big reasons I can't decide what to pair it with. The only secondaries I have put together that I haven't figured out how to softcap yet are /ElA and /WP. Can come close, @38% for both, but not quite hit it. Got the duration on energize down to about 33 seconds, so you have a steady heal, and you won't need stam at all. To be honest, I would put it about even, maybe a little better than FA or DA for a secondary now. So yeah, it will be solid, but it will require a bit more attention than say Invuln or WP. /SR and /EA also both look really sexy. /EA is really looking like it will be just mean when IO'd out.

And yeah, currently, claws/stone is a no go on test.

Yup. Last night's late night patch removed it as a possibility.

Anyone who currently has one is a lucky dog. I KNEW I should have made one. *sigh*

Don't worry, BAB said that it's not gone for good. It's just a temporary measure until he can get it fixed. Obviously after I16, but it's still better than the Shield limitations.
