If it's your first character, I'd wait until 20. I've you've already played a bit and know how to get around and play the game, you can start at level 1.

Hey there.

You're probably playing a trial.

Trial accounts can't access the Mission Architect. They can't create missions or play them.

Even if you downloaded the trial from the Architect Edition Free Trial page, you still can't do anything Architect-related.

Try looking at your contact tab and talking to your first contact (you're probably in Atlas) and doing those missions.

They can play them, if they're part of a team doing them. They just can't start one on their own.

If you are not on a trial account, you can start them at level one. You have to go to one of the computer terminals in front of the contact holograms. From there, you pick and accept a mission or arc. Then you go to the contact holograms, which by this point will probably look much different than it did when you had no mission. After you accept the mission from the contact, you hit the data steam behind it.

Good luck!

Trial accounts can't make arcs or run them by themselves.

I have a theory on the reasons for each:

1) Trial accounts can't make them because they want to keep the amount of clutter down from people making arcs that will never play again. Each arc takes up space, that's why we're limited to 100kb to work with.

2) Trial accounts can't run them solo because it's a trial account, the devs want trial players to get an idea of what the rest of the game is like, instead of them spending 2 weeks in AE and not seeing anything.

You know, it sure would be nice if the devs could be less obtuse about trial account restrictions. Seriously, that's just insulting.

None of the limitations are as bad as the window in the MIDDLE OF THE BLOODY SCREEN saying "hey you're still in trial, wanna buy the game?" And of course, every time you move it away to make some room to actually bloody play the game, you'll enter an instance and it's BACK IN THE CENTER OF THE SCREEN.

Back during my trial, I honestly didn't notice most of the limitations, but it's that 'reminder' that pissed me off every time. It is honestly highly disruptive of the game, and the worst part of a trial account.

Yes, I know I'm on a trial account. Yes, I know it will eventually expire and I need to buy the game proper. You don't need to remind me ALL THE ******* TIME. Just let me play the game, and you'll see I like the game enough to buy an account, anyway.

But this? This is like going to Wentworth's only to be swamped by beggars when you have barely five million inf yourself. Don't be like the inf-beggars, game.

Sound's like a glitch/mapserver issue to me, as if your character has been disconnected from the map server and is not recognizing the fact that your actually still outside AE (or something to that effect).

Is everything you use fully functional inside AE?
Have you tried using studio B instead as an alternative?
Try interacting with the rewards upstairs, if it doesn't work it may be a disconnection issue. otherwise possible trial account but as mentioned the message doesn't sound like a trial restriction message. and as far as i remember it said something relevant.

My complaint wasn't with the limitation itself, more the fact that they're not at all clear about it, instead choosing to drape it in confusing world immersion details. It would be like if the game said "For some mysterious reason other heroes can't hear you" when you try to send a tell from a trial account (I am, of course, assuming that the game is more clear than that).

I wasn't aware the trial accounts were pestering you about subscribing. It's been quite a while since my trial (over 4 years), but I don't remember it doing that back then. It's kinda sad.

CoX trial accounts were only brought in line with the MMO standards, blame gold farmers for that.

That... or they didn't want us to be flooded with "Buy Inf at XXXXXXX.com today!!1!!!!!" arcs. Probably a combination of both.
