lemme see if i'm understanding what you are saying...a bonus will stack five times...but if the same bonus is attempted to be stacked a sixth time...you will lose them all? is that what you are saying?
...There are many different enhancement sets in the game that will provide identical bonuses to a character's attributes. A character may have up to five copies of the same bonus and still get the benefit, however any additional bonuses to that attribute in that amount will not be counted.
For example: The Triage set provides +4% to Regeneration when two enhancements from the set are slotted in the same power. So a character can slot five Triage sets and get +4% from each, totaling +20% to their Regeneration. However if they slot a sixth Triage set, the bonus will not be applied... |
HAH! I finally get to do it!

First off...holy thread necro, Batman!

Secondly, no, that is not what he is saying. You can have the same bonus five times. If you get a sixth one, the sixth one will not count. But you still keep the other five.

...and no. The Law of Fives means you can have 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 of the same set bonus, but not six.

Five shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be Five. Six shalt thou not count. Seven is right out.

Just so you know, HighTech_Wonder, the Mods often lock thread when they get necro'ed like this. (see section 5 of the forum rules). To quote:

Hi everyone,
Please try to avoid Thread Necromancy. Instead of posting in a thread that has not seen activity in some time, and risking confusion among readers who are unaware of the dated nature of the thread, please consider creating a new thread instead, and, if necessary, linking to the old thread. I started reading this thread and didn't realize it was a necro until I got to the part about how Going Rouge was going to be released soon....

Not really. I'll provide an example in response to:
edit: I understand that there could be an inbalance when slotting multiple times, however, that is debatable.

doing so really would make all of your other powers ineffective |
That's 105% global recharge gained from single enhancements. Since they are all single enhancements and not 5 slot set bonuses, you could have all that recharge and still slot your attacks effectively. If your primary were Claws, you could then go and slot 4 purple sets (Hecatomb, Apocalypse, Armageddon, Ragnarok) without even having to dip into pool powers to mule with. You could then slot the Superior Scrapper's Strike or Brute's Fury in something and have a total of 155% global recharge. You could then slot 5 sets of Red Fortune for another 25% to get up to 180% recharge.
None of your powers are gimped, and you've gained a ridiculous amount of recharge.
Situations like that are why the rule exists.
Edit: Dammit. I hate responding to threads that I didn't realize I'd already posted in....because I posted in them THREE YEARS AGO.

I should stop reading the forums when I first wake up. I read the title of this thread as "Law of Elves"
I was like: "the hell?" until I remembered what the title was supposed to be.
