Wow, Dominator's hold is a joke?
Well this is the devs attempt to fix permadoms and other mezzers that could easily become OPd in pvp like fortunatas. The problem is they did to well and now mezzes are total jokes in pvp they are minor nuisances at best but can be deadly when combined with knockback.

I never know control was that big of a deal. Most people carry break-frees anyway. What's big deal is Blaster running towards you with Build Up and Aim and +range (buffed by Controller/Defender) and you are dead in 10s before any of your control even works... at least this my experience anyway.
I post here because I thought it was funny that Dom's dominated hold only last 6sish. lol My Necro/Pain could have owned my friend's Dom so hard if I wanted to. He and I were joking about it.
What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.
I have been crying those same tears since i13, to be honest a melee toon can rival a doms or trollers holds and do more damage in the process, sad but true. You don't even need breakfree's, this aspect of pvp is laughable, well all of it is atm but this more so to me. All the carebares who cried about holds were to lazy to just carry and manage breakfree's. Castle viewed holds as a overal problem instead of a few isolated tears, the biggest joke is alot of the carebears that put us here don't even pvp now, and second is alot of them actually used mezzers and are now crying with us to get things back, becareful what you wish for when crying. But anyway kb is king now and mind doms with their op'd levetate force you to take like 40kb protect or better builds to keep the levetate spam to a minimum. the are fatal in sirens and with stalker support fatal in rv, one good levitate and you wont get up, all you'll see is AS over your toon and the option to hospital or go to base.

Well, I used to pvp a lot in Guild Wars when it first came out and then a bit in WoW and quite a few in WAR Hammer Online. All the mez powers have long recharge.. like really long.
I guess I rather have a hold that works well once in 60s than a hold that only lasts 5-6s after I tried so hard to stack and not die from doing so. That's my problem with Dom's hold now.
And how about Gravity's Lift? Does it work as well as Mind's Levitate? This is getting annoying as Mind control becomes even more important now? I just went through some pvp changes on Mids and I find a disturbing trend... some sets that used to be very PvP-friendly become even more pvp-friendly. Mind Control for one, and then Energy Melee seems even more of a good choice for the burst damage and Super Strength too. Brute's Stone Melee's Seismic Smash does 126 damage while Total Focus is 198 (is this info even correct)?? Yes, I know Seismic activates faster but who cares if PvPing in CoX is all about kiting/hitting? When is the last time you see two people fighting face to face without moving? Activation time almost becomes a non-factor, not when your biggest hitter does even less damage than Hurl Boulder?
Oh my god?? Hurl does 139 base damage? Damn... what is happening??!! I guess this explains why my Fortunate went to RV and 3 Tankers threw rock at me and I am almost dead. They didn't even need to get close to me.
I thought the goal is to promote different sets for pvp?
PS: Counters to Defense is ridiculous in higher lvl pvp.

Lift and Levitate are about mag 35 slotted, Power Push is around 45, and Force Bolt is I think 54. There's still a 10-second suppression on knockback but that's largely irrelevant when someone KBs you and mezzes you as soon as you get back up, because if that person's leading off a damage spike you'll be dead before that hold wears off.

I was testing my Necro/Pain in Warburg with my friend's lvl 47 Gravity Dom. He put a Dominated Hold on me and it only last about 5-6 seconds? It was a joke! I didn't even have any set bonus to reduce hold duration.
What happened to PvP??? How can Doms fight in pvp without TK if the hold duration is THAT short? I know Doms' damage is higher but still... you deal zero damage if you die in like 5s. I haven't pvped with dom for so long... |

But don't defensive sets have knockback protection higher than 100pt? How do you knock them?

Currently there's a bug where if someone gets mezzed, their toggle knockback protection will suppress and they'll get KB'd (to test this, just have someone hit you with KO Blow when you're running your melee toggle mez protection). I've filed numerous bug reports on this and have sent PMs to the appropriate rednames, so we can only hope it's been fixed in I16.

Knockback used to be like so useless in PvP due to Acrobatic. It basically negates any knockback.
And after years of complaining, knockbacks have become so important while a Dominated hold gets nerfed to 5-7s?
Can't we have an in-between remedy?

I can understand Knockback being supressed, but currently powers like Levitate and Lift are not typed at "knockback" they're typed as Knock Up so no amount of Knockback Protection or Resistance will help. So yes...I'd say it is working as intended. If you have the appropriate amount of KB res Levitate and Lift will do nothing to you.

Currently there's a bug where if someone gets mezzed, their toggle knockback protection will suppress and they'll get KB'd (to test this, just have someone hit you with KO Blow when you're running your melee toggle mez protection). Just for clarity, mezzes seem to no longer suppress knock protection, or at least acrobatics at any rate. We didn't test with melee armor sets.
Mezzes dont supress melee mez toggles and acro KB prot, BUT...this is the funny and sad part, widows IW still supresses when mezzed. Love devs long time.... NOT.
5-6s holds are pretty damn good holds by today's standards heh
