A Formal Goodbye

Well. Kind of. But not really. More of a: "City of Heroes, I need some space, 'kay? You're smothering me."

What I'm trying to say is, I will soon be beginning my first semester of college--I move into my dorm this Saturday. I've signed up for 18 hours of classes and intend to retain some semblance of a social life; that all amounts to a severe cut into my playtime. I should be able to play a bit on weekends, and Friday evenings that I don't have other engagements planned on. And all of this is happening at the worst time (When i16 is on the verge of Open Beta and going Live...i.e. When I'll be able to play something I actually want to play, not my Mastermind that apparently has leprosy...but that is neither here nor there).

So, you all get to look forward to a couple things:
1) Less of me trying, and failing, usually, to be witty on BMT of Champion.
2) Less "Anyone wanna team with my (insert low level)ish Mastermind??? Please? I have apple strudel!"

Hope no one is too bummed out by this. Although I know that Cobalt is gonna be at least a little blue.

...c wut i did thur?

Welcome the Higher Educational System.
Perks include, annoying Dormmates, Parties ONLY on the nights you REALLY need to study, Girls that you know are not relationship material coming on to you (and your mental reply is (What the heck. She's got a good body so what if there's nothing upstairs), going to the computer lab and KNOWING some shmuck took all the paper out of the copier, going the dining hall and KNOWING that meatloaf whinnied instead of moo-ed in it's former life, going to the library and KNOWING that douchee that sat behind you in the lecture got the last copy of that book the prof mentioned, getting to know the pizza guy on a first name basis, and the beer.... Ah, the beer. Such a sweet friend in your hour of need. Never judging. Never nagging about that paper that's due. Always the wingman (No really. She's not that ugly. Go on!) *sigh* Good Times.

I envy you my friend. You may loose some play time, but the experiences (the good, the bad, and the WTF?) you'll live through will be well worth it.

I expect to hear some good stories.

Oh we wont see you friday nights. Your living in the dorms and that really when the party starts. BA has some things right. I am not sure the meatloaf is even meat. More like a vegiburger but with out the healthy stuff. Dorm life is something very worth living through. Helps you handle problems you might face later on in life.

remimber skunk luer in a heating duck will stink up your toom too.
Old record covers filled with shaving cream is a great way to get it everyware is someone else dorm (Hint under the door and stomp on it)
popcorn at 3 every night will get a complate against you.
2 bags of popcorm popped in 1 night will melt a airpopper lid

not that you would have time to do that.

Ahhh college. Back in my day (waggles cane), MUDs and Netrek were the games of choice. Had to rig the venerable PPP link to netrek from my dorm room, but many a night were spent questing away. First semester is always the toughest striking the right balance of play and fun. Best of luck to ya.

I will give you only one piece of advice about college life: You only regret the things that you should have done, but didn't do.

You mean like study?

18 hrs in the first semester....wow. Good luck with that. Come back when you get used to the new lifestyle. Breaks are always a good thing.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.

Good luck, and have fun!

At least you have a social life to be worried over keeping, lol. I'm moving back to school this weekend but I attend in ND where the social life consists of drinking, hockey, tractor pulls, and guessing how many cars will be stuck in the snow on the interstate as you go to class in the morning.

You really think 18 hours in your first term is going to leave you with time for a social life? Good luck with that...lol.

Seriously though, good luck in college!

R U kidding! When I was in college I had that kind of course load in my first year, worked nights, and still had time for dating! ("dating" is a term I use loosely). But then again, i had not yet discovered video gaming.

Best of luck to you in college!

By the way I read this, Cherry did some experimenting in college. *intriguing look*

Go on...

And DK will be fine, "social life" is a word that isn't really in his dictionary.. Sure.. He has friends, hangs out, and does stuff.. But.. He is smart..

This. Also, don't leave without discovering what a hose nap and a basket dance are. And I'm not talking about the formal Korean thingies.
