Rocket Pack on Villain Side

Question: Where in the early stages is the contact or mish for the Jet/Rocket Pack? I am currently at level 10 and I already have the Jump Pack but would really like the Jet/Rocket Pack before I can get my flight power at I believe level 16. It seems every time on my past villain builds when I already have my flight power past level 16 I get the mish for the Jet/Rocket Pack, thus, I can never really use it since I have my flight power. So having this now at level 10 would be ideal. Thanks in advance to those who reply

You get the "jump pack' by doing a bank mission (Atlas Park) levels 5 through 9. You get the "rocket pack" by doing a bank mission (King's Row) levels 10 through 14.

You get access to these missions by doing newspaper missions until the bank mission option opens up.

I assume you were on a team when you completed the 1st bank mission. Either get on a team that is doing the (King's Row) bank mission or go to Port Oakes & see your contact for the access to newspaper missions.

Hope This Helps!!

Well you have 2 choices.

1. You can try to get someone under lvl 10 to get the atlas park mayhem mission.

2. Run the Marshal Brass missions he has the mission to get the goldbrickers jetpack

P.S. also like to add you can always go to Grandville there is a jetpack dealer that will sell you one unless they moved them.

There is a third option for redside. Simply make your way to Grandville and purchase your shiney new Arachnos issued jetpack from the vendor under the statue of our glorious leader for 10,000 inf.

I believe she already HAS the jump pack (level 5 -9). Looking for 10-14 (Rocket Pack). Go to Port Oakes. See your broker. They will give you access to newspaper missions. Do them until you get access to "Rob The Bank". Click "accept". At level 10 you will get the King's Row bank. Complete it. Voila! You now have you rocket pack.

Marshall Brass is another Great alternative later on. If you complete his missions you will get a 2nd "rocket pack". 3 modes of travel.

You can go to Grandville & purchase a "rocket pack" from the Quartermaster. It will cost 10,000 infamy. Not sure if it's available to lowbies.

EDIT!!! Thanks for the later post! Just realized that the above IS backwards. But everything else still applies. I just got off work. Anyhow.

These are actually backwards. The raptor pack (flight) is awarded for successfully robbing the Atlas Park bank (level 5-10), and the zero-G pack (jumping) is awarded for robbing the King's Row bank (level 10-15). There's some overlap there, so if you're exactly level 10, you've got a 50/50 shot of getting either when you talk to your broker (the contact in each zone named "x the y," like Mikey the Ear or Drea the Hook) after doing enough paper missions. Unfortunately, if you miss that window, the only way to go back and get that mission again is to find someone else of the appropriate level and tag along with them, most likely malefactored down to their level. You say you're level 10 right now? I'd suggest turning off XP gain (in your options menu) and running through paper missions until you get offered a bank job. Hopefully, it will be the Atlas one, but if not, you can always refuse and run more paper missions until you get offered another -- at that level you should need to do three paper missions in order to be offered the bank heist.

Or you could skip that and visit the jetpack vendor in Grandville (if you can survive the trip) who will sell you an identical raptor pack for 10,000 infamy.

There's also a different jetpack (only 90 minutes of flight time, and it looks different, but otherwise identical) you can get by running a mission handed out by Marshal Brass in Cap au Diable (a level 15-19 contact, so you'd have to level up a bit, but it's not too long, and you've already got the zero-G pack to use until then).

FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

Or, if you don't want to spend 10k inf and have other characters you play, you can just log out in Grandville for the day job and get one for free.

Other way around. Jump Pack is 10-14, Rocket Pack is 5-9.

However the flight time is fairly short unless you're going to stay off your character for several days to refuel.

So to revisit the options...

1: Team with someone running a level 5-9 atlas park mayhem mission
2: Run the marshal Brass mission in Cap that awards a temp Goldbricker pack
3: Go to Grandville and spend 10,000 inf at the raptor pack vendor
4: Log out in Grandville for a few days and get the dayjob temp raptor pack
5: Log on to the NCSoft store and spend $4.99 for the temp jetpack for a month (I consider this a silly option, but it's still an option)

You have that backwards, DBT.

The flight pack is given out for the level 5-9 Mayhem mission. the jump pack is given out for the level 10-14 mayhem missions.

Since everyone seems to have missed it I wanted to emphasize what Doctor_Roswell pointed out, the levels of the Mayhem/Safeguard missions overlap. Atlas Park is in fact 5-10 not 5-9.

Plus, if you already, by Level 14, have either Hover, or Air Superiority, at Level 14, not Level 16, you can get the Fly Power.

It's good that you're correcting one part, but then you got the levels wrong. It's 5-10 and 10-15. Yes, they overlap. At level 10 you can get EITHER mission (and it's random - not under your control).

Note: Marshal Brass is a level 15-20 contact.

Hint: You can guarantee you get the Goldbricker Rocket Pack mission as the first mission from Brass if you go to Seer Marino first and get the Talk to Bloody Bay Liason mission from her (at level 15). After doing that you can forgo the rest of her missions and go to Brass. Assuming this is the first time you have talked to him as a contact, the Goldbricker Rocket Pack mission will be the first mission he gives.

If you get the Talk to Seer Marino mission or Talk to Bloody Bay Liason mission from Brass you may have to wade through his entire first arc before he gives you the Goldbricker mission.

Even if you do go ahead and buy a Raptor Pack from the vendor at Grandy's, you still may want to get the Atlas Mayhem under your belt anyway at some point in your career, since the exploration badge inside is needed for an accolade (the villain equivalent of Geas of the Kind Ones, if I remember right).

I believe you're referring to the Invader Badge (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Invader_Badge), which is really an accolade that gives you +5% to your max health. Unlike the blue-side equivalent (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Stouthearted_Badge), actually a very handy accolade power indeed!

Ah right. The one I was thinking of is http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Force_of_Nature_Badge Force of Nature. That one requires the other Mayhem badges (just not the exploration badges) and is like Geas of the Kind Ones.

Actually if you are talking about the bonus provided, not the requirements to achieve it, the Invader badge is the equivalent of the Task Force Commander badge on the heroside.

at 8:50 in the morning, I would have only been up for 20 minutes.\. You really expect me to think of everything that early?

Having just tried several of these methods, I highly recommend going to Grandville and buying a pack.

If you get the one from an early bank mission, great. I did that mission and didn't receive it (though others on my team did - our only guess was that I had outleveled the reward?), so wanted to try another way. For a newcomer without Fly, the Redside maps can be extremely frustrating, as there are many places that require skirting vertical obstacles.

This didn't work for me.

Someone new to the zone may have a hard time finding Seer Marino (by using Paragon Wiki and /loc, I could get close, but again there was a vertical height difference between us. I knew she was below me, but didn't know how to get there.. all the more frustrating when you're doing this to get a vertical travel power).

Once you do, you'll find the Paragon Wiki coordinates for Marshall Brass are incorrect (the Z coordinate should be positive). But even then, he won't talk to you, as you need to talk to another contact first. More running around, only to find that she won't talk to you, either: you need Newspaper missions to start.

I had avoided going to Grandville because I expected high-level mobs to spank me. There aren't any between the Ferry and the Jetpack master, and you can earn 10,000 Infamy a lot faster than you can go through the Marshall Brass line.

Just go buy one.

As far as I know there's no out leveling as far as the bank missions temp powers go, as long as you haven't gotten it before and are above the minimum level, you should get it.

This is correct.

HOWEVER, if you are 'combat' level 5, and not 'threat/security' level 5 (i.e., HAVE NOT trained up yet), you DO NOT count as level 5, you count as whatever threat/security level you are trained up to. A level 4 with a pocket level untrained is counted as a level 4 for safeguard/mayhem rewards.

That was the issue for me, thanks. I wonder if I could now get the reward, after training, by running it again?

Since Contacts treat you as your combat level, I didn't expect the rewards to be dependent on training.

On the general topic of this Thread, it's worth recommending that newcomers either get their pack in Grandville or pick Fly as a travel power. The alternative methods require specific steps that are easier to follow if you've already done them once, or are going with someone who knows.

The Villain side requires more knowledge from experience and a great deal more vertical travel than on early Hero side maps. Movement within zones is harder - there are more dead-ends, more barrier walls, elevators, and fortresses - and travel between zones is fragmented by multiple (unmarked) routes.

Player-shared knowledge is weaker on the Redside, too, which makes it harder to figure out where you're going. The incorrectly listed location for Marshall Bass on ParagonWiki is just one example.

Imagine as a new player trying to figure out where you can go from Atlas Park by looking at this map. The list at the bottom makes it clear both where you can go and how to get there.

Now compare it to the map of Mercy Island from the same site. Where can you go? Beats me.

I'm still having a great time Redside, but getting around is much, much easier once you already know the layout.

Until then, make sure you can Fly.
