Sands of Mu not selectable

OK, so I have reached past the 12 month limit and can now choose Sands of Mu on.... SOME of my toons. About 60% can, without any problem, click on the veteran badge and choose Sands of Mu.

But 40% of my toons can not? It is just greyed out on the Veteran Badge and I can't click it. Is there a level requirement that paragonwiki does not list? An archetype requirement?

Some other random facts:
* No , the toons that can not choose Sands of Mu have not taken Ghost-Slaying Axe instead
* It seems my meele toons (scrapper/tanks/brutes) have no problems taking it
* The toons that have problems are often controllers

I thought all my toons (and there are many of them) would get Sands of Mu once I got the 12 month badge?

Anyone else got this problem? Anyone know how to fix it?

Are you quite certain that you have actually reached the 12 month play time mark on your account? There is currently a bug that is awarding vet rewards early or expansion items and powers to people who haven't applied a code. The reason I ask is that it seems the bug awards the items on a character basis rather than an account wide basis. Check your NCSoft account data and see what day your 12 month award is scheduled for.

I have 14 months of veteran time on my account right now, so yes, I have reached 12 months

It may just be missions, period, although I cannot say I recall exactly. I just remember being unable to claim the Vet Reward because I was in a mission. Once I exited, I was able to claim the reward.

There is also the General Wonkiness that is going on with Vet Rewards in general, although I had always heard that all characters were getting them too early or (in my case this last time) getting them too late. But I have not yet heard of it being hit or miss for the characters in an account.

So I would give claiming them a whirl again, but be standing on the street when you do.

"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"

"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

Not necessarily. On my account right now I have 70 months of Veteran Rewards Time and nobody is going to be seeing the 69 month award for around half a year.. That's because I buy a year at a time. The category Veteran Rewards Time counts all the time you have played, plus the time you've paid for but not yet played.

The category that counts is further down the page where it lists the award level and when it was (or will be) awarded. If the date shown for your 12 month award is in the past then yes, you have reached it. If it's not, then you haven't earned the award yet and you got it through the bug I mentioned.

I reached 12 month vet on 08/10/2009 and all my toons were able to take Sand of Mu. I may create a toon with a concept of using the Ghost Slaying Axe, but haven't thought of it yet.

I had no problems taking the Sands of Mu on any of my Controllers.

Just be aware that if your toon uses the Battle Axe powerset, switching to Ghost Slaying Axe does cause redraw.

I had a dwarf-type character (SD/BA tanker) that chose Ghost Slaying Axe. Every time I used the power, it caused redraw. AND the Ghost Slaying Axe (which uses the Legacy Axe skin) looked nothing like the skin I chose for my Battle Axe (Impervium Axe).

So every time I was in a fight, it looked like I kept switching back and forth between different axes.

Finally, I just deleted and re-rolled, choosing Sands of Mu instead.

I have an AR blaster that uses the ax for close encounters of the spirit kind.

Firstly, the Ghost Slaying Axe does not use the Legacy Battle-Axe skin. It has a unique skin of its own.

Secondly, the Ghost Slaying Axe should never be considered a part of your normal attack chain. It should be used in the special circumstances for which it is intended, fighting ghosts.

I would have kept the character and used the Ghost Slaying Axe less often. But that could just be me.

I often have the vet reward being buggy; where i choose it, receive it quietly, and the reward dialog doesnt go away until I pick 'nothing'.
Check that its hasnt been awarded and listed in the powers.

~~

I find sands/axe to be incredilby useful parts of the attack chain, espically for my lower level ATs.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

The award time is what I meant. I have paid for about 18 months right now.

Thank you. I quickly received the answers I were looking for, actually, from kind and helpful players.

All this is moot, though, because he's showing the badge in his badge window and can claim it on some of his characters, which means he has been awarded the 12 month vet reward...

I figured I'd get zinged on that; been so long since I used Ghost Slaying Axe, that I forgot what it looked like.

Firstly , my point wasn't what the GSA looked like, but that it looked completely different from my main Battle Axe AND that using it caused redraw. (But having re-checked it out, the GSA skin does look kinda cool, wish it was available for the Battle Axe powerset.)

Secondly - if it's OK with you - I'll play my character my way. For me, any and all attacks should be used. If I have Ghost Slaying Axe, I'm gonna use it no matter what I'm fighting. Of course, I'll probably only use it when there is a gap in my normal attack chain, but I'll still use it frequently.

My point to the person I was replying to, is that I had a Battle Axe using toon, yet I still felt Sands of Mu was more useful to him than Ghost Slaying Axe. I've never played a Dark Melee character (or one using any other Dark-based attacks), but I think they are the only ones who would ever get more utility out of GSA than SoM, and then only if they were fighting something that had defenses against Dark Attacks.

About the Ghost-Slaying Axe, I read recently in a guide that redraw is a myth and that the redraw time is actually included in all animations (which is why there is often a very small delay to attacks). Anyone that can confirm this?

Think it was in a trick arrow guide that stated that nothing was gained by going Trick Arrow/Archery as redraw did not cost any additional time.

Can't find it right now

I had this exact same problem about 2 weeks ago. The only way to get out of the selection window was to opt out of the reward entirely.

I contacted support, and support said that Sands of Mu had been claimed on the character in question.
I logged in and checked, and there it was.
I don't know if relogging fixed it, or if this was just PEBKAC all the way, but try relogging on the toon and see if that helps.
