City Of Heroes...

Now, I am not the most vocal and opinionated person here, but today was a breaking point of sorts. I am moving my lesser used toons around for their day job badges and all I am seeing in Level 50 chat is Champions Online. Where to go to sign up for the beta, etc. Last time I looked around, this is City of Heroes and not the CO chat line. I chose not to say anything in channel, because in all honesty it would have been ignored or shot down (just like this post may end up being as well).

Folks, I have no problem with people wanting to try another game, hell try every game known to man for all I care, but at least have the decency to promote another game via PM or in any other RL manner. To promote a game that is in direct competition with City of Heroes especially in-game global channel, in my opinion sucks.

In the end, I just wish folks would have a little bit of respect for City of Heroes and by extension NCSoft. You may not like what decisions they have made over the years, I am in that boat in regards to some of the changes, but you won't ever see me advertising in-game, another game no matter how bad. The day comes when I no longer want to play City of Heroes for whatever reason, I will cancel my subscription and move on to something else (whatever that may be). As of right now, I don't plan on leaving and I will maintain as active a place in the Guardian community as my real life will allow.

I apologize if this upsets some people, but I needed to get this off my chest. I hope that our game can return to all of us who enjoy, play and put down hard earned money to play City of Heroes, not some advert for another game or two.

I remember everyone complaining about Jack, and were happy to see him go. Now he starts a new game the same people are flocking back to him.

why shoiuld anyone be restricted?...hell guardian has aion chat going on it.

c.o. has alot of the same things and more stuff cox has and has had in it..made by a dev that made the game you currently play..although i dont like jack myself..he has to be credited enough to at lease talk about the game.

myself i wouldnt give jack a dime of my money ever again..but some are willling so go for it.

but it is a "general" chat ...not a restricted chat.

It's a new shiny in a flavor we all like. People are going to talk about it, no stopping it. If you're happy here, like many of us, then that's all that matters. If others leave chances are they will be back. One thing this game has that I haven't seen in a lot of games is retention and plenty of returns. I've seen a lot of people over 5 years leave and many of them come right back after whichever new FOTM shiny comes out and the newness wears off.

It's not meant to be as a "restriction", you can say what you want, but where is the line in terms of pushing a competing product? Over the years I have seen and read some crazy stuff but promoting another product that is in direct competition, I feel personally is wrong.

I hope people do go and check it out, I don't have anything against any other MMORPG in the market. I for one will not be checking it out, but for anyone who does I hope you enjoy your experience.

as one of my favorite features of CoX the costume creator over there is different so i wanna see what it looks like but i dont see myself playing the game itself

i dont mind seeing it being mentioned in game as discussion but what i do mind is when i see people all mad about CoX and trying to promote CO instead thats what annoys me

Talking about that other game, to me, is ok. Promoting that game in a global channel and bashing CoH, thats just sillyness and usually gets ignored. Will that stop someone from doing? No. But at least I don't have to see it. Oh how I love thee ignore button...come walk with me in the moonlit park tonight....

Hello, I was there when this discussion came up. I am Nezz, the channel mod for the level 50's chat channel. There was no promoting of the game. We were talking about new games coming out and I believe we started out with Aeon and I started the convo. I got on and asked where everyone was, then made a comment that they were probly all beta testing Aion as a joke. Then we all began to talk about Aion, then moved onto CO and also talked about DCUO. There was absolutely no promoting going on of any game, just discussion. Those that were talking about CO and giving information was among those who were already interested and looking into trying to game. There was no, "CoX sucks, CO will be great." As I said before, we were talking about other games as well. You must have just came in at the wrong time and I am sorry if you got upset. As far as Garbage in the channel, Kheldarn, maybe a year ago. Now, its no better or worse than the Guardian Channel. You should check it out again, there has been some cleaning up.


tl;dr version: We were not bashing CoX, we were discussion CO, Aion and DCUO and what they have and when they can be played and how. Level 50's chat channel is a good, quality channel. There is no Garbage, has been that way for at least a year now. The channel is full of very intelligent people who enjoy discussion points of views and games.

uh maybe i need to clear things up i dont think armeros said anything about the bashing of CoX from that conversation cuz i do believe i was taking part in some of that conversation and in my previous post i mentioned how the bashing of CoX and promotion of CO annoyed me and that wasnt from that conversation or any of the guardian channels ive seen lately mostly the forums and the week or so after Posi's AE Rant awhile back

so in short if i put any words or misunderstanding in the conversation here im sorry
