I'm still trying to wrap my head around Christopher Eccleston as a part of COBRA. I'll wait a bit before deciding if we'll see it in theaters or wait for the DVD.

I want to see it but, I think its probably going to be bad. So here's to hoping its better.

as reported on msnbc.com movie news/reviews:

Quote:
"`G.I. Joe' is a big, fun, summer event movie — one that we've seen audiences enjoy everywhere from Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland to Phoenix, Ariz.," said Rob Moore, vice chairman of Paramount Pictures. "After the chasm we experienced with `Transformers 2' between the response of audiences and critics, we chose to forgo opening-day print and broadcast reviews as a strategy to promote `G.I. Joe.' We want audiences to define this film."
this too:

Quote:
Devin Faraci from the film Web site CHUD.com is one of the few writers who have seen it for review purposes, and not just for junket interviews. He's among the critics who've contributed to the movie's 88-percent positive rating as tabulated by Rotten Tomatoes, saying: "If I was 10 years old, `G.I. Joe' would be one of the best movies I had ever seen."
Faraci also says:

Quote:
"It's silly. It's a film that plays on its own terms," he said. "I don't think reviews will kill it but I think it'll get a more positive response than they expect. It's a big, silly, pulpy, cartoony action film and it makes no apologies for being that way."
i'm not one for critic reviews, but i'm still taking both my sons Saturday to see it.
If nothing else we get to munch on awsome movie theatre popcorn,Nachos and one of the only times I let them chug a big ole 44ounce pepsi.

I was a huge GI Joe fan when I was a kid and it pains me to hear/read the poor, and sometimes downright awful, reviews for it. There is always a chance that the Hollywood elite critics collectively decided to pan a film out of spite or arrogance, but we'll just have to wait and see. I think I'm in agreement with Vega, about letting at least one person I know and who's opinion on film I respect, see it first and then making up my mind about what to do. On the upside, even if it is a complete bomb, at least Scarlet and the Baroness promo posters are easy on the eyes.

Well I'm sure your boys will enjoy it. My Brother saw it a week or so ago (dont ask....I never do) and he said it sucked, but the action was good. GI Joe has fuzzy hair and the Kung Fu grip damit!

I dont really go to movies much. I prefer to watch them on my 65" Mitsubishi DLP HGTV with the windows (and everything else in the house) rattling away. I mean hell I spent the money on a great home system, and on the plus side I can drink a beer or 4 while watching. My sofa is more comfortable to boot.

Oh and get off my lawn you crazy kids!

I don't care much for movie critics, if its not a foreign film they don't give two poops. But stuff like "If I was 10 years old, `G.I. Joe' would be one of the best movies I had ever seen." doesn't really appeal to me becuase i'm not a 10 year old kid. But again i hope that it turns out to be a good movie but if its not i wont be supprised.

See, I *wasn't* a fan of the cartoon or toys.

But the trailer I saw was quite fun. I don't know that I'd care to actually see it, but if a friend invites me I won't say no. It doesn't bother me that it might or might not be "true" to the old Joe stuff. It just looks like a couple hours of stupid fun and explosions and fx. That's not too bad.

i tend not to listen to critics, because for the most part they never have the same thoughts as me, especially with movies such as this. i'll see it eventually, but i'm not going to try to do it this weekend. i'm going to see what a few non critic people who's opinions i trust have to say about it before i pay my money. and if they keep Cobra Commander the way his toy looks... i will never see any sequels.

I agree with Hookecho, you don't mess with an original

Since they really wanted to make a CG movie about super-soldiers in crazy-Crysis-suits doing insane-fast-explosive things, I wish they would have made up some garbage story for it, rather than waste this license on that bull****.

I'll go see it the second week out. I hate the opening week rush. I was a fan of the cartoon & toys back in the day so I have to see what they did for the big screen. I don't expect that they kept too close to the original but that's Hollywood for you.

Just saw it (really wasn't planning on it) and honestly it was bad. It had some good parts to it, i mean who doesn't like a good explosion. But even explosions and hot chicks weren't enough to save this movie for me.

Since I am interested in neither hot chicks or explosions, I do not plan on seeing this movie. Thank you to Elric for saving my time for me

But what about Enigma? He could be interested in those things, and don't you want him to be happy?
