The character creator is a chunk of what actually needs to be tested for once, so I can see why they would want to restrict it.

I just click the "New Posts" button at the top and hope to find some dev posts in there.
Hmm the only reason I can think of for the change from the many previous closed beta tests (keep in mind it wasn't until the last 4-5 issues they even bothered with closed betas) is that the character creator will probably be as buggy as hell and they don't want people logging in to a character creator that is causing problems and generally not working correctly...
...what it's an explanation dang it!
