The -rech stacked from spines might be making no attacks ready, inspiring the critter AI to try to flee.

I've seen that exact same thing, mobs running from my spines scrapper when they just stand around my Claws toon.

That would explain why they run all over the place then.

I may have to experiment and see if turning off Quills will help with that.

(of course that would reduce the AoE goodness of the Spines set)

I think that Throw Spines has the biggest slow, though Quills may self-stack?

When they have been running from my scrapper, I've noticed some of them run after about 8-10 seconds and at that point they have only been hit by Quills 3-5 times and maybe Spine Burst.

So while Throw Spines may be contributing they do seem to run even when it isn't used.

The -rech for all the powers except Throw Spines (-16%) and Impale is -8%. The run speed is -16% for each of the powers (Quills doesn't self-stack) except for Throw Spines (-40%). You should probably use Throw Spines as often as possible to keep them from running out of the area (which, of course, against purple cons won't be so effective).

Except when fighting 20+ Lts at a time, The tactic is...

Pull till I hit the Agro cap, gather them up, hit BU then FE then Spine Burst, then start using the cone attacks to clean up the rest.

By the time I manage to group them up and have gotten Burst off several of the mobs have been being beaten by Quills for 10+ seconds and start to run.

This does not happen with my other toons when pulling on the same map so I am having to conclude that the fault behind their running lies with the Spines set.

I think max hp is very important for Fire Armor.

An easy way to start on the max hp would be to slot 5 sets of Eradication ((for the 2.25% max hp) x5). Then grab as many 1.88's and 1.5's you can get...

Then with accolades you can get in the upper 1900's..

this build might be going a lil overboard on the hp..just depends what you want to focus on..

Sry if I hijack thread briefly. But afterall I have some questions regarding the OP's build.

Tho I've been playing mmorpg almost as long as they have been available (starting at MUD era )I'm totally newbie at CoH. In fact I created my 1st character less than a week ago. After brief forum reading I decided to make a scrapper hence it seemed to be easiest class to start from a scratch. I usually make my own builds but CoH concept is a bit different than the ones I've been used to and on the other hand nowadays I dont have enough time to really "get into" games anymore.

Ive been following the original build (now lvl 19). Only difference is that I took Hasten at 16 (because at that point I felt I need dps more than PS) and Quills at 18 (because I didnt basically have any major reg probs then). Now I do feel I need more endu reg so gonna go hea20 and sta22.

But the question is. Hence this is my 1st toon I really dont have any decent amount of Inf at my disposal. Should I take it into account when building this toon what comes to slotting or even picking powers. At the moment I'm really tempted to but 4th or perhaps even 5th slot into hasten but I'm trying to hold my horses

More than three slots in Hasten is typically considered a waste as the slots are generally used for +recharge enhancements and once you start using Single Origin level enhancements, more than three in the power really doesn't give you any benefit.

As to influence, sell your salvage at Wentworths and you should be able to afford basic enhancements as you level up.

Note, once you hit level 22 you are then able to slot in level 25 Invention Origin Enhancements which give basically the same enhancement value as Single Origin Enhancements but can never be out leveled.

Once you get to that point, focus on those until you get to level 47+ at which point you can start looking at your influence and start planning out which IO sets you may want to start looking at getting.

If its your first toon, I'd recommend not leveling through the AE, you'll learn more, and likely earn. As far as slotting... probably best to learn more before dumping the kind of influence that these builds are, onto your first toon (if you make that much). At 22, you'll gain access to "SOs" (Single Origin enhancements). These will give 30-38% enhancement values for most traits, such as acc/dam/endreduction/recharge/etc. You can use lvl 30 common IOs at lvl 27, and they're about as good as SOs, and if you wait a few hours to day, you can usually buy them for 50k at WWs, which is a little more than a SO, but you never need to replace them... this way you'll save in the long run. Also, if endurance continues to be a concern when you have stamina, and end reduction in attacks, you will have access to consume as well, which is a handy +end AoE. Don't slot Hasten more than 3x.

Back on topic, I finished slotting my build, and dinked around on a team of 4 against 51 bosses, and ran great. Killed quick, no end issues, no health concerns. Will push it further when I have a chance... Time to accolade up

Thanks for advices SF and Gaderath.
I didnt realize SO's or lvl 30 common IO's can give so high (to me 30-38% is high) boosts. I just have to get a few more lvls and then hasten recharge is decent. Otherwise I'll purchase decent common 30-35 IO's and go with those till 47 and then start to build some more decent IO sets.. Sounds like cheapo and great "bang for buck" way to lvl my1st CoH toon. Just as I wanted. Thx again
I most prolly will never put these amounts of inluence to this charcater. So in case you have some nice suggestions of changing slotting from original I'd be happy to hear those. Prolly I'll anyway adjust (=ruin) it a bit because of my own preferences

I think I improved on your original build Kruunch...This adds more health, regen, recharge, and you still keep all the other things you had, the only minus is you loose just a little in Ranged def. and like .3 in def for Melee and S/L. Enjoy!

I like these builds but is there a way to sub in something else for the Oblits since they are so hard to find?

I have bids out for them but will need something else in the meantime.

Multistrikes, however they give half the bonuse to Melee defense that Oblits do. But they're cheap.

Or you can go for some Scirocco's.

Unfortunately not really and still maintain the same performance.

Besides the melee defense bonus (which is the key factor in using them) they are also high on recharge, which is important, especially for Burn which is your big mitigator.

*EDIT* - Do some AE farms and with the tickets roll Silver Class L35-39. They cost 555 tickets each and I've gotten a ton of Oblits from these as well as some really high end sellables (Miracle: Heal, LotG: Defense, Numinas: Heal, etc ...).

Thanks guys, I'll have to slot the multi's in until I can get some Oblits. Should be good enough until I either win some or roll some.

I've gotten 3 but all 3 have been the easier to get DMG/RCH.

Just a reminder, Obliterations aren't very good for damage auras like Quills or Blazing Aura because there's only about 15% endredux in them. So for those you'll want multistrikes unless your recovery is awesome.

Yeah I planed on using Multi's in the auras, now I'll need 6 sets until I can get the Oblit's.

Bonusses max out at 5 sets so for the last you may want to save yourself some dough and go with generic IOs or SOs or something else for a different bonus like Scirocco's.

So an estimate if anyone can how much will all the IO's be that are in Kruunches build be? just want to plan it for when my 44 finally reaches 50 and i can start getting up to the standards that i need to meet. Thanks

Hey Guys i currently made a spines/fire and he is now 44 i tried to solo but i run out of endurance like its freakin candy. I was just wondering does this get better at 50 even before i get all the IO's? Or am i stuck with this till i farm 600-700 mil for all the IO's?
