I'd love to have the regions merged, I miss playing with EU people. Unfortunately I wasn't playing when they offered the one way boat from the U.S servers to the EU ones. Probably wont happen though

I did see the one way ticket but at the time, no-one else wanted to move. Large number of servers versus a tiny amount, cutting character slots by a huge chunk (and I know plenty of altaholics who could fill up the EU region twice over at the time).
So think of all the extra shiny character slots with a region merge...

My sole reason, well my main reason anyway, for not transferring to the european servers were the lack of character slots. I mean, I got two servers that are completely full, and about 1½ to 2 servers worth of characters scatters over the rest (except Freedom for some reason... )
How on earth would I be able to pick those characters that would accompany me to the EU servers? I mean it would be like leaving my children in the snow for the wolves!
I couldn't do it, I simply couldn't *sobs*
Anyway, a server LIST merger would be a great idea, and may even bring more life to some of the less populated servers.

A server list merger has been suggested on the old EU boards for quite some time now, but I don't see it happening anytime soon, tbh. There are several legal issues they need to resolve with regards to data sharing between the EU/US first.
They're not insurmountable, far from it! But because they chose to split the companies as they did, they have regulations to follow which involves piles of red tape and costs. Right now, it's probably cheaper for them to leave well enough alone, especially as NCSoft aren't exactly rolling in the cash right now.
Hopefully, at some point they'll actually get all this done and then we can have a merged server list, but don't go holding your breath.
