I always thought the tongue-poking one meant you were poking fun, either at the subject, the poster, or yourself, depending on what you had posted.

Arc #271637 - Welcome to M.A.G.I. - An alternative first story arc for magic origin heroes. At Hero Registration you heard the jokes about Azuria always losing things. When she loses the entire M.A.G.I. vault, you are chosen to find it.

I agree with the good Doctors definition as to what I use it for but depending on who the OP is, this might work too.

Badging in a PvP zone?

If you are treasure hunting on a battlefield wearing an enemy uniform, there is a high probability that you will be attacked.

This, to be honest. Or that you're drooling all over the OP.
As for the winking, you've got it all wrong. It means something just got into your eye and you can't get it out because you're a yellow ball with no members!

Aaaaaaaaaah!

By the way, this one means someone just stuck a wet carrot in your ear canal (or other orifice of choice).

Which, amusingly enough, leads to a certain amount of resentment towards Jews on the German side. Maybe cats and dogs really can't live in peace.
Cats and dogs can live in peace, it all depends on how they were brought up.

Actually in the context of this thread, I can say with a degree of certainty that "winking" is surely a typo

Yes, I declined to mention it since I've never seen that use on these forums.

That's because they are new and respectable posters never lick on their first post

Metric is only evil if you have a succession of governments (such as in the UK) that will not implement the system fully and so you get a half-baked compromise where some things are measured in metric, others in imperial.

most things sold by weight are sold in metric. Most volume is calculated in metric (but you buy a pint in a pub, although spirits are sold in 60cl)

Distance is generally taught in metric, metres, centimetres, etc but roads are calculated in miles. Petrol (gas to you NA lot) is sold in litres, so trying to work out your fuel economy is a frikkin nightmare.

What I find hilarious here is about our only use of metrics is bottled drinks. You get 2 liter bottles, but 12 oz. cans.....

Get a Dodge. Mine has a thingy that displays current fuel usage and overall usage in MPG (miles per gallon). The same thingy also shows temp (you can even change it to celsius ), how much gas is left, how many miles worth of gas is left (great for when your low and trying to figure which gas station to go to)... and I few others I don't remember cause I don't use 'em that much.

Bad Scarlet_Shocker. Bad. Still made me laugh though.

Oddly enough I just read a twitter about a new singing to my local football team (no not soccer its football, that thing thats played over there is just a varient of celtic football anyway same as rugby). He is actually a stirker for the US national team and in his twitter he more or less came out and said he was probably going to a premier league club and his forts game would in all liklihood be against chelsea *wink* *wink*. So that reminded me of another connotation of winking "I know somethign you dont" or "Ill tell you something descreetly without actually spelling it out".

Sure people wink when flirting but in my experiance less so. But it could be said its the basis of flortatous winking. A suggestion you would like to express something discreetly.

This however is not so naughty and is entirely true. I wonder if it throws alot of visitors to our country when they hear the EU ususes metric only to find we really dont.

The wink could also suggest something conspiratorial, too. The tongue thing I've assumed was meant to represent either that ditzy dumb "gosh, I 'm a twit for saying that" kind of expression, or its blowing a raspberry. The grinning one I don't get - why is it green? Is that significant? It looks like "About to vomit, but don't know how to politely excuse myself from the conversation...oh no, here it comes..."

I miss the animated laughing one we used to have. That did what it said on the tin.

We deffo need more emoticons.

Just not entirely sure about a wanking one, though...

EDIT: Oh, so that doesn't get censored, but idio t does? Talk about your cultural differences...
