Secondary powerset with fire/
Dark Miasma. Fire/Dark Corruptors are made of awesome.
They solo extremely well.
They do great damage and excellent debuffage (I daresay Dark is one of the strongest sets for debuffing) in teams, while also providing mezzing.
They can even heal, and/or have their pet help them mez, debuff and heal.
What else could you possible want?
Fire is great with all debuffing sets. End heavy with some but still good fun.
Oh, and in terms of synergy: Rain of Fire + Tar Patch.

I agree with this!
Other goods sets..........Rad and Storm come to mind.
L50s: Tanks: Cryofission - Ice/EM - Dr Celsius - Fire/Ice - Saint George - SD/SS | Controllers: Psichosis - Ill/Kin - Major Chaos - Ill/Stm | Scrappers - Neutron Crusader - DM/SR
Currently Levelling: Angelic Blade - BS/WP Scrapper | Seeds of Destruction - Plant/Kin Controller
Oh, yes, Storm definitely deserves a mention. Fire/Storm makes for a nice whirlwind of chaos and destruction.
Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.
I hadn't looked at Storm, for some reason, and I quite like the idea of raining fire and destruction from the skies :-) If I go for fire/dark, I might end up re-rolling my dark/dark character, as I'm not sure I'll want dark/dark *and* fire/dark corruptors. Although I'd miss my Tenebrous Tentacles, so, hmm.
Too many choices!

Rain of Fire + Freezing Rain is similarly effective, if not as quickly available, if you're still considering Fire/Storm.

More effective! -Defense so your follow-up Fireball will hit em, -Recharge so you'll attract less return fire and the falling over.
Such an amazingly good power.
Mmm. But no self-heal or damage debuffs.
Having said that, both are great. And I do admit Freezing Rain is a godly power.
don't forget fire/kin for dmgoverkill
Helge corr lvl 50 rad/cold
Helge2 corr lvl 50 ice/rad

Well, it's a matter of horses for courses... if the corruptor is intended for mostly solo or duo play I would stay away from /kin. Don't get me wrong, /kin is awesome when played well, but its biggest strengths lie in supporting medium-sized to big teams.
For soloing or duoing you are better off with a secondary set that has something in it to keep the bad guys from hitting (and in the worst case mezzing) you while you lay the smack down on them, especially against mid to high level enemies.
I would say that /dark, /storm and /rad are best suited for that task. No matter which one you choose you will drain your endurance quickly and often until you get something to alleviate that problem (set builds, Scirocco patron pool etc.).

If it has eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.

A Fire/Dark corrupter can cast Tar Patch, which slows those trapped in it down and weakens their resistance to damage and then follow it up with Rain of Fire which does wide area damage over time but which the enemies try and run out of.
So there's lovely synergy there, they can't run very fast thanks to Tar Patches -Run Speed effect and their Rain is hitting harder too thanks to its -Resistance effect.
Rain of Fire also slows run speed, and stacks with Tar Patch.
Aha thanks now I know that thanks a lot mates
I've been playing CoX for about six months, but I've only just really looked at Corruptors, and I like what I see a lot. My first love in computer games is being able to hurl massive fireballs around the screen, and since I've been playing CoX my next-favourite characters have mostly been Defenders, so Corruptors seem like my dream AT. I've been playing a dark/dark, and having a lot of fun
My question is, given that I'd like to try a fire/ Corruptor, what is a good synergistic secondary power set? I'll mostly be playing the character solo or in a duo, so I've been leaning towards the sets which debuff enemies rather than buff allies. Would /dark or /rad be good choices? Is there any reason to prefer one over the other? Or am I missing another good option?
