Not only the news about the reformed badge (see Reformed badge thread) but Positron's been posting a fair bit today in the US Developers board.

Among his postings are:

Good to see info coming from the devs again.

I get the feeling that rather than being 'an end run around marketing' (as several posters called the comments about going rogue in the Reformed badge post) that this amount of info coming at once is probably more likely to be part of the marketing plan leading up to I14...


EDIT: Could be part of marketing - Notice that the posts were all posted at 14:09 and (looking at his recent post history) Positron doesn't seem to often write offline and then post en masse.

It's good that he's done that - although the explanation of the reasoning and history behind badge names/rewards is more interesting. Even if it doesn't tell us much more than we knew (or could reasonably assume) it just comes across as completely open and honest.

I'm far more interested/intrigued by the other posts - particularly the following line:

Yes, I think the main thing delaying the start of issue 14 beta is the need to clear some of the issue 13 bugs first.

But it will, no doubt, be in testing internally, which should, as you suggest, shorten the process a little.

A lot of the MA 'stuff' should hopefully be quite quick in Beta as it's no doubt based upon pre-existing dev tools, or has been used/tested by devs - possibly with an eye to using it for future storyline work.

I've had a sneaking suspicion for a while that MA is actually going to be better featured than was announced/discussed by devs - and that (to a fair extent) that's what has been holding up the move to beta testing. I suspect that they've acted wisely and announced something that they knew they could deliver but have been working like mad to deliver a system that's what we'd have expected MA v 2.0 to look like.

The odd leak or MA-hinting bug has done nothing to dissuade me from this - though I'm still somewhat restrained in what I allow myself to believe is definitely coming.

This is the bit thats got me thinking. What other things can badges be used for?

Future pvp game badges unlocks a gladiator themed costume?

Defeat XXXX badges unlocks that enemy type for use for the MA?

Auction house badges gets you cheaper paid back %s in the auction house?

Taskforce badges increase merit rewards/influence for that certain taskforce?

Possibilities!!!

Nekomimi is the Japanese term for catgirls. Kind of narrows things down a bit I suppose.

Although it would be more hilarious if it's some sort of composite reference to Sapphic Neko and the Mimi sex toys.

Castle --- Speaks More (badly i might add) - Does Even less (unless its underminding what ppl wanted to see and basically doing what the heck he likes (whihc is making it more statacto (PvP Refenece))) - Blames others

Yes, it seems logical that Castle operates independently of the rest of the dev team, ignoring any overall plans for moving the game forward and concetrates only on driving away their customers.

So it did happen, didn't it? I thought the tailor day job does give a discount at the tailors, and that would make it true and implemented.

They're devs - and as such it's reasonable to assume that when they say 'or' it's a logical or. The possibilities of 'a discount at the tailors' or 'a discount at wentworths' was met when either of those was implemented.
