Arena Options US Test
Well .. it's certainly a step in the right direction!
Now, if we can just get the damage, resist and mez changes reverted I'll be happy
I'll be happy to try out this "half-way" house though.

Ta for that Spag.
Let's just hope they add more "options" to ignore the i13 changes.
CoH PvP SG = SuperUnion - Co-Leader - Union/Freedom
CoV PvP VG = Disruption - Co-Leader - Union/Freedom
Global = @Rent & @Rent.
Playgroup are all **** - Global Handle
That's great.
The DR one is the big one for me, though. I still think the Heal Resist could turn out to be a good addition in some cases.
Now all I have to wait for is this to be brought to zonal as well.
And cheers for the info Spag
I'd love to know how they could apply that to Zonal PvP.

just thought you all would be interested in knowing that currently on Test Server a patch has been included to provide two new options when setting up arena matches...
No Travel Suppression!
No Diminishing Returns!

And a post by someone who has tested it:

So tested.

Well if no diminishing returns means that IO sets retain their effectiveness, I would still be unhappy.

By removing the mistake they called i13 pvp. What else?

Why ?
I know you *hinted* about the subject before but I don't get this "I hate IO's" mindest that several people seem to have.
IO's are earned, be it through farming, playing the markets or simply ploughing through taskforces.
They're *in the game* ... why penalise those that spent the time to get them?
It's like telling a formula one driver "sorry, we're going to a wheel off now. You've gotten quite good at this driving malarky now and we want to level the playing field again"

Point is they have to be GRINDED. GRIND GRIND GRIND.
giving a big advantage to those people willing to do it will put people like me who cant be bothered with it off the game.
By not penalising those that spent the time to get them youre penalising everybody else. Its either or.

I can *kind* of see your point. But, to me, penalising those who don't put in extra effort is better than penalising those who *do* put in extra effort.
It's more like no-one is penalised. Those who put the extra effort in are rewarded.
Time for another simile:
Someone on the dole complains that just because someone else works hard for 8 hours a day that they shouldn't have anything extra.
They demand that either they get the same amount of money as them, or that the money is taken away from the person that works.
It just doesn't make sense to me.

If a player can't be ar$ed to work for it then I don't see why those who are willing to work (or grind) for it should be punished for those who won't/can't.
The devs stated that the game wasn't made harder because of IOs. If you don't like the system then ignore it (or something along those lines - someone please correct me if I am wrong). So basically, if you cannot be bothered to grind and put the effort into the task of acquiring the IOs, then why the heck should those who have/still are, be punished?
Do you call that fair? Try putting youself in the position of a person that has gone through the grind reluctantly for the build they wanted, then answer that question.
(Please note: I have never farmed for IOs. I acquire mine via doing TF after TF for influence, and then spend it accordingly. So this is quite insulting to a person such as myself who doesn't farm because it is 'frowned upon')

It's an option on the Arenas Mr Smarty Pants.
Now come up with a way of implementing it optionally in a PvP Zone. You may not like these things, but others do. I could add some comment about growing up, but that's starting to get too petty.

By all means whatever floats your sinking boat, my friend.
But the option is (not for the players, but for the devs) is either A) Revert back to i12 PvP or B) Risk losing a lot more subs. And we both know that I am not just talking about the EU, because there are far more PvPers on the US servers.
Your move.
If you dont want to put the time and effort to get the IO´s thats fine by me. But give me 1 reason why we who actually worked hard and spent alot off times in tf´s or farming for that matter, should be punished for it? To be honest its not our fault you cant be arsed to put the effort in to get them, since they are there for everybody to get. Its just a matter off how much effort YOU are willing to put in.

It's nothing like WOW, it doesn't take a whole week of raiding to get one purple.
And you don't need to grind for influence, play the markets instead.
And you have a good chance in PVP with a SO build providing you know how to play it. Whenever I pvp'd in SC I lose my set bonuses, and I still ( well, pre-i13 ) did pretty well.
Following your train of thought, what's next? Disable all enhancements in pvp as some people don't have enough influence to slot SO's ?
Balancing PVP to make it completely fair to everyone makes it boring, as evidenced somewhat by I13.
Fahie
Nice, I for one have not really tried the new PVP that much. But enjoyed the old pre i13 style better tbh. It's just the feel i've got so far before i got moaned at for "not adapting" etc etc..
Judging by this new info i think it would be great to have at least the option to adjust arena matches to an oldschool style for those that prefer it.. If they can add these options surely they shud be able to rollback enabling the player to chose the i13 changes as match restrictions etc
Maybe they shud have doen it like that in the first place??
And on the subject of grinding for IO's i have to agree that players shud not be penalized for makin extra effort to polish of their builds.. Once i get a toon to 50 the "best build" process is something that keeps my interest..
Once im happy with it i move on to my next project
If there were more people to play pvp against, I might be more lenient.

No. I highly doubt that. They're too busy with making 'improvements' such as i13 PvP. If they did PvP then they would know for a fact that what they did was a mistake and wouldn't have implemented it in the first place.
However I could be wrong, and some of them do actually PvP. If so then they either A) Need some time off to get their heads screwed on or B) Get another job.
Good IO builds are part of the skillset imo. You can easily get servicable builds for little cost if you ever pve.
If you wanna pick up + play pvp go on a GW PvP server or just play CS:S
