Maybe was some in house tweaking going on by nc soft gearing up fothe winter event, not sure.

On a Sunday afternoon and evening?

Maybe it was drunken BT engineers staggering back to work after their Christmas party, or Torchwood twonks fiddling with subspace harmonics and messing up internet nodes as a side effect. Not sure.

OK, let's do this scientifically...

- I had two DC's on Union during the peak rush.
- I'm on Virgin (ex-NTL: this is still relevant).
- I'm in Norwich (and therefore connect via Peterborough backbone node).

If the valiant NCSoft Network Ranger net.hamster is going to battle its way through the zombie children in the pipe and slice through the blockages, it needs to know where to start...

Is it time for the dance of joy yet?

I'd love to blame Virgin, because they are a terrible provider, or so I've recently come to realise.

I'd love to agree and say it's NC letting us all down and neglecting repairs to an aging server.

However, I can't, because the obvious answer has eluded you all:

It's a Nemesis Plot.

The DC's were happening in Denmark as well so it's not your ISP. The Server status page was showing all 5 EU servers as being down for the 1-2mins each time I got dropped to the login screen. That would suggest to me that the problem was alot closer to the servers, both geographically and electronically.

Um Lets see

-no full disconects but plenty of Map Servers
-I'm with BT
-I'm in Armadale (Edinburgh ish area) i think i connect thru the Gyle

Posted

- no real disconnects, but worse lag than usual on ITF
- I'm on Union
- I'm with Sonera
- I'm in Finland

ok no actual DC's for me but im seeing plenty on teams, mapserving to buggery though and constant spamming of the /sync command due to horrible rubberbanding.

so heres the info
-union
-on BT (using the new homehub non-wireless)
-Manchester

No other programs running when I am suffering the worst, and not a normal thing for me, and checking with teams when I suffer from it to ensure its not just me.

I had problems too. I got lots of lag and rubber banding in missions. I got kicked to the login screen with the "lost connection to map server" message. I had another map server incident but it recovered.

My wife had exactly the same problems at the same times.

FWIW I was monitoring the net connection with the netgraph slash command. There were lots and lots of yellow spikes against a relatively normal green background. This would happen even when the characters had stopped responding.

At times, the mobs continued to attack but we were unable to take any actions. Very odd.

Server - Defiant
ISP - Demon
Location - Hinckley

We had issues with a peer outside of our network that was part of the routing for a good portion of our player base this weekend. We've removed this peer from our routing options until they restore stability within their network.

Thanks for the update GR. It's a pity it took so long to identify the problem, but that can't usually be helped when there are third parties involved.

It didn't actually take that long. When I logged in for GG I had no trouble all night.

And I said it looked like a network problem. I'm just a genius. You may all worship me now.

Yes, I had noticed that half your sig block was taken up with quotes from me.

BTW, I can't actually giggle like a 19-year-old girl. My voice doesn't do that register.
