CoX drawings by Darth Delicious
Not try to thread jack, but I really felt like he needed scales...
Can't color or draw to save my life but I can sure as all get out meld/blend textures.
>_> don't kill me
Awesome! He looks like he is printed on a basketball.
Love this dragon though, and texture might be just the ticket for him.

Thanks all!
@ransim: I know the dragon needed scales... that's why the random attempt to give it some kind of texture *giggles*. Nice try yourself!
@Goblin Queen: you're welcome!

Ransim, you've run into the same problem I had when I decided to texturize my son's lizard guy which is the pattern is too uniform over all. Because of folds and turns in the skin which we can't see the texture should be more random. I know that sounds odd because it is a random pattern in itself. Easiest way to explain (and you may realize this and I'm rattling on for no reason) is to do a visual - make a "C" with your hand and look at your index finger's knuckles, then clench your first and look at the same areas it's very different. Yes shading helps in the drawing but not enough. What I tried to do was adjust the size of the texture and the orientation of it in relation to the area of skin. It helped but without A LOT of time it still doesn't look as good as if it had been drawn on from the beginning.
Wow that was long winded sorry. It also sounds like I didn't like and that's not it at all!!! It's a great three way (O_O) collab! I just thought I'd add my two cents of experience in...

The real challenge with textures and not something I had time to do at work, is you have to cut it up and mold it over the muscles so it has some depth where it should.
If I get some time tonight I can probably do it properly.
@ransim: I'm quite curious about how your texture work will look when, like you mentioned, would have more time.
I just finished another colouring... Nothing CoX related, but I thought I'd put it up here anyway, see what you think of it.
(it might be, that he looks very orangy/pinkish on your screen. It looks fine on my 1st screen, but more orangy at my second *chuckles*)

Took a bit of time out of the end of my day, this is a bit more relaxing them my current stress insanity at work. This is a bit of an example. The idea is you find a good representation of the texture you're looking for, then you use a combination of cut sections, the liquefy tool and transform warp to mold it to the body/item.
So places like the shoulder and the eye i popped it out some to give it definition. Places like the lower jaw and the ears and the neck I pushed it in.
There are also places on a lizard you generally see a deviation from the scales, but that would require using multiple skin references. ^_^
@PS, you just nailed it on the head. those effects are great, but use them as guides. That the effect your after but now affect it with a light source. Have a look at Darth Del's thread for an easy nto do light source exercise. Keep it up, you gott talent man Excuses for bad typing, alchohol and a lovely lady in the house
@DD, that is superb, you're doing it girl
actually, looking at it again, i think because it's so good, i can start being a bit critical. See, the better you get, the more people will crit you... it'sd a good thing.
k, this is only a small crit as i actually really like it, you don't need the lining aaround the nostrils. Yep, we get that petty
A triple collab! AWESOMESAUCE! Really like the colors you chose DD and Ransim the scales you added were a great touch.
They were too uniform to begin with but after you warped them around the musculature it looked great.
Felt I could add some more to this piece by bending and shaping the scales further
and adding some more tonal variation and contrast.
Threw in some lightning fx to boot.

Also I started a thread for this kind of stuffz.

The color looks good on him, you might want to adjust the saturation in some areas a bit though.
I would say darken his hair and eyebrows some too. It's really coming along nicely.
I'll see what I can do!
Cheers! ^^

I'm not sure what to saturate exactly... but I worked a little on the shading in the face instead.
Also darkened the hair a bit (don't want to make it too dark, as the colour get's odd in combination with his facecolour, I think) and also darkened the facial hair.
(service from me... to prevent scrolling down.. I've displayed the "new" one with the "former version" below it, though comparing works better with them next to eachother...)
How's this?

Today I've been working on "Hair".
I received some fancy tips and tricks and started practising...
This is what I've been able to do sofar (only using mouse, as I don't have a (well-working) tablet in my posession).
I need more practice...and prefertly a nice tablet...but, I think there's hope .
Now.. dinnertime!

An unexpected update regarding an awesome drawing tablet!
I will own one starting tomorrow!!! (so far that is )
Today I happened to stuble upon a Wacom Intuos 3 A5 wide.
Having read many reviews and gaining advise from several friends, that tablet should do well beyond my expectations. I was aiming for an older version tbh. As it would be more in my budget.
Now, I have been saving up for quite some time now and been on the look out for a reasonable priced drawing tablet (2nd hand would do aswell) with pressure indication (obviously).
I do posess a tablet, but it has no pressure indication and it's working very poorly (which is why I stopped using it). Luckily for me it didn't cost me much.
This one is over 50% off (not new though) BUT... it's been used only once for demonstration ánd it comes in the orignal box! *cheers*
I can't wait to start working with it (yes, I know I will need much more practice, but I'm up for it!).
(I just had to share my joy )

I use the Wacom Intuous3 as well, it will take some getting used to at first but in the long run you're going to love it.
I like your method to add texture to the skin! Cool collab DD!
