CoX drawings by Darth Delicious
Well, I did want to comment, before the tablet-love takes over everything...
That is super-good (straight) hair, you made there! Even with only a mouse to work with.
Be Well!
Fireheart
Thanks Fireheart!
It took intensive mouse-use...and now I'm in pain because my right thumb has an old injury which holds me from long-term intense mouse use... a tablet would be thé outcome.

I like the way Mr. Gorgeous is turning out. I don't know if that's the character name.... but it should be. hehe

Tablet is collected and it's awesome!
I thought my hand/eye coordination with it would be horrible...but actually it's not that bad .
More practice tonight. Now off to see family!

Now...I've been working with my marvelous new drawing tablet for 2 days now...
...and I utterly LOVES it!
Oh, the detail you can get in a drawing with the pressure option active, the strokes you can make.. it's so delicious! You can't do all that with only a mouse available!
Yesterday I was working on a pair of eyes... the pupils.. and when I was done.. I couldn't stop looking at them... they looked so real!
Have a look yourself, as the following drawing (a more human form of my char Mike, already had it on paper (pencil) and scanned it) is the one I'm working on. (click on it for a large (over 4MB) version)
Yes, except for the dark background, I put in all the hairs manually... because I can!! *giggles*
It still needs a lot of work, I know.. It's by far finished.
I just wanted to share this preview with you lot
In the end the pencil version should be invisible (it's still slightly visible now).

lol, somehow I knéw you were going to say that.
As long I can learn from it, sure! You have my blessing. It's a collab afterall . Would you like the PSP9 file (not sure if that goes well with PhotoShop though)? *waves* DeeDee |
You did like 90% of the work here on the coloring but often times it's that last 10% that can really make a piece of art pop.
I will put an animated gif later if you like so you can see some of what I did and maybe pick up a few things.
P.S. I am very proud of how this collaboration came out. Thanks DD for working with me on this.

Thanks Caemgen!
Went ahead and added more contrast as I said I would. The one thing I would hope this shows you is just how close you are getting in your colors.

I already am picking up stuff from the piece now, so having it animated, should be awesome, thanks!
I'm very proud aswell, CR! I enjoy working with you very much! Thank you for your effort and time to give advise and feedback.

Animation is up.
I had to quit staring at it long enough to post it lol. Even though I know
exactly what is going to happen I still watched the loop like a dozen times.
P.S. You are off to a great start with the hair brushes DD.
Yes I saw!! It's like magic! *giggles*
Thanks! I actually didn't use a hair brush... it's all.. me! I did those hairs... hair by hair!
But I like the outcome. May tweak it later a bit here and there...
It's realistic... but you can still see it's not a photo..which is what I was going for.
Working on his clothing now...
Will see what I can do about skin tone and more shades after that.

Ok I stand corrected then. I thought it was a brush just for the sheer volume of individual hairs going in separate directions if you are drawing all of those by hand I'm even more impressed that these are your early attempts.
One thing I might suggest is there are too many fly away hairs. You can see skin between too many of the hairs that go across his face and all along the outline of his head there need to be clumps rather than so many individual hairs.
Also there is something about his face, hmmmm, the eyeballs are shiny and done in a realistic fashion but the other features look a little flat... it kinda reminds me a bit of a ventriloquist's puppet.
haha thanks!
I know about the hairs on crossing his face. It bothers me so that's back on the list of "to work on" .
That goes for the straying hairs aswell. I got a bit overenthousiastic about that *giggles*
I've also noticed that the eyes are shiny, but the rest is flat. I'm working on that as we speak. Trying out different colours, shades and stuff. May take a while to finish this one in a the way I was planning to.
It's a good "getting to know the tablet options" project
Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated!

I should be more clear, as I don't want to give the wrong idea... it's fine to be able to see skin (or the sky in the
background for that matter) in between the individual strands but it shouldn't be for the whole length of the strand.
Even hair with a ton of flyaways can work (especially if it's windy) but where the hair comes from the head should
still have clumps and look like a solid mass and as it gets out towards the tips it can be more scattered and windblown.
Think more like this...
Got it, thanks! That's what I meant aswell

To take my mind off my current project of Mike's portrait for a bit, I went to colour a sketch Swissy did one day for a friend of mine, FloatingFatMan. His character, Ellie.
So... here it is!
And "the making of":

I hope we get to see many more awesome arts with it!
Maybe even some catgirl art? *kitty eyes*
I use the Wacom Intuous3 as well, it will take some getting used to at first but in the long run you're going to love it.
And so far the only "bad" thing I read (not only from you, but from other friends and even from people I don't know) was that I would have to get used to it...
Well.. if thát's all! I got used to Paint Shop Pro aswell and I thought I never would!
I'm so happy!!
Now I'll go off to bed... sleep... and tomorrow morning I'll pick up my new goody!
Though I won't be able to start working with it untill the evening as I have to do a social call with family too
