New website! :D
[ QUOTE ]
I think the main negative aspect of the site is that practically all the info needs updating. Take a look at the Rewards section of Game Guides. 'Salvage' refers to base salvage, invention salvage isn't mentioned (nor are inventions).

We'll be going through all the content over the coming weeks and months with a fine tooth comb. If there's anything specific you want to point us towards, such as the salvage page, please feel free to email me and we'll get to it ASAP.
One of the things we'll be doing now we have the new site constructed and live is Proliferating the Powers section and adding the new powersets introduced since the section was created.
Well, I'm out of work anyway. I'll put a task in my PDA to go through the site monday and compile a list.

I will grumble a lot more if the new forums arent small browser friendly.
[/ QUOTE ]
So will I. I quite often read the forums or post on my phone/PDA's browser.

I could not find any RSS feeds for the news or GRs Hideout. I know I can drop the pages into Yahoo! Alerts or Google, but RSS would be better.

RSS is coming

Also browsing it from a mobile works okayish, but, for example, on the basic Nokia web browser the right-hand menus dont work and in Opera mini they mix in together a bit. This is, obviously, a minor consideration, but it would be nice if the site degraded elegantly. (I will grumble a lot more if the new forums arent small browser friendly. )

I'll ask, however I expect the answer will be that we've got much higher priority things to work on.
I believe the new forums, when they arrive, should work well in a mobile. At least as well as the current ones.
I certainly won't ask for more than the new forums working as well as the current ones. I was fairly amazed they worked as well as they do.

Nice site, much better!
One thing I do miss is the player submitted features, I used to like the featured toon, player screenshots and tip of the day stuff. They gave players the feeling that they were involved with the site.
My deviantART page (warning some images nsfw)
GGRRR Comic Series GGRRR Comics on Facebook
Good news on the RSS, and dont bother anyone too much about mobile compatibility, Id rather the code monkeys and test teams deal with more exciting stuff. Im sure there arent many of us who go to the pub or the football and still manage to think about things they want to check on the site.
Another thing I did spot was that if a forum page times out on load (or there is any sort of general load error) the browser is bounced to the US error page rather than the EU one (i.e. you then click on the community section and end up in the US forums). Again, not a big issue because its not like the forums timeout a lot ¬_¬ but might need a quick tweak when theres a coder free.
Am pleased to hear about the RSS feeds... now i have something to plot about and to make my job just that little bit easier
KEEN! Like it very much, and removes the text-to-Flash script that looked pretty but slowed it down on ye olde wonder of Victorian science machines I use at work. (Any time you need to launch Photoshop, I have to call down to the boiler room for more steam.)
...hang on a minute, did GR get an individual base before we do? HAX!!
Is it time for the dance of joy yet?

Ok... scuse a computer inept person... what is RSS feed?
[/ QUOTE ]
RSS feeds allow you to do lots of different things, but most people like them because you can use a RSS reader, a web page or get alerts via email when a web site is updated. You can, for example drop RSS feeds into an iGoogle or Yahoo! home page so you just have to give that page a quick skim to see if any of the sites you like have been updated, rather than visiting each site individually.
They are great for blogs as well, as again, who really wants to visit twenty blogs to see if anything new has been written when you can get an email through or just look in one place.
Hopefully that all makes sense, but heres a more technical breakdown: linky

Me too, I browse the forums using Opera Mini on my mobile all the time. I hope you guys have added phone browsing to your testing....
I've been known to post to the forums using my mobile ... so yeah, I wouldn't want to see forum browsing via mobile become a problem.
I've visited vBulletin forums on my mobile before, though, and there's never been any problems.
PS. It would appear that the sooner you get that new forum software up and running, the better...

That's why I came to the website, guess I won't be coming anymore...

Server status page...... Finally.

W00t, you mean it actually works again?
Nice shiney website, look forward to seeing the new features.
On a sidenote: On the 14 day free trial pic, Statesman shoulder is clipping through his cape.
I was just checking out my account details on the PlayNC site, and within my 'Game Account Details', I clicked the "Veteran Rewards Program" link, assuming it would take me to the Veteran Rewards page on the new site. Instead I wound up at the home page of the new site - something that needs to be looked at?

In fact http://eu.cityofheroes.com/game-guide/veteran-rewards doesn't work at all

Also, what happened to the RSS feed for the news? Has it moved or has it been canned?
Apparently it's on its way back - the same goes for GR's blog - GR said so himself

So - the new website is up and running (without RSS). We have one giant integrated set of forums...
Fansite Alliance sub-section? Or is that meaningless, now? Technically it still 'exists'...yet we're currently just a 'list of people', with no benefits at all - which goes against one of the reasons many people applied for it...

what the hell?
Nice.
