Badges...
Meh IMHO there should be cos its on US Forums but I think pretty much everyone's OK with just Questions.

Is there any particular reason 'Badges' doesnt get its own Forum section - where people can query, discuss, ask for advice on all things badging? I know there is the 'Questions' thread but badges and badghunting being such a popular pastime in CoX it surely would make sense to have all badgey talk together?

The reason given in the past is simply down to forum management. As they don't have the capability (on this software at least), to create subforums; and there are already FAR too many sections as it is.
Not saying I agree with that, just saying that's the reason given in the past when this has come up.

Erm, not that I disagree with the too many subforums bit, but they did add the Inventions subforum on this software.

Sorry, I'll rephrase. They can create a single level of subforum, but that's it. Hence we have 3 top levels (English, French, German), and everything else is a subforum under that. They can't nest any deeper, so to add a badge section just increases the management load AND would only be used by a tiny proportion of the forum users.
The overheads would outweigh the minimal benefit, so they let 3rd party badge related sites do that...

Also the last explanation I remembered being given about this was that there wasn't enough interest and/or manpower to have yet another section... still, you can always pose your questions on the General section and some badge whor... err, I mean, god (not me) will answer it I'm sure.

Well, I've been wanting a Badge section on here for ages now! Given that we have a section for RP, PVP, Inventions as well as every AT, I think badging should have one as well, especially given that they have one in the US!!
As for moderation, I can't see why NC can't authorise specific people to be moderators for a sub-forum? Sections such as Badges aren't going to cause much in the way of arguing so a badge section with someone who knows badges well and is a respectable poster (Shades or BlueRabbit for instance) would be good moderators for it.
I can see why PvP might not get a player mod, it's a very volatile subject and needs official moderators, but badges is hardly likely to start fights and anyway, the official mods can still keep an eye on it as well and overule the player mods.
Hopefully when the new boards come on live we can get a badge section, in fact it would be good if the mods asked us forum readers what sections we would like!! I personally think the forums are pretty good as is, but add a Badge forum and possibly an Off Topic section as well
Just my 2 inf of course, but us poor badge whor.......collectors need some loving as well!!

May I suggest going to the badge hunter/vidiots forum...
Any badge who... erhm, hunter is bound to find their way over there sooner or later, and those guys over there are usually waaayyy nicer than us angry d00m sayers over here!
..it's just a jolly nice place to be.

Agreed, agreed and agreed again for emphasis.
For reasons why take a look at the WoW board where they give certain posters VIP status including certain moderator powers.
Very, very bad idea.
Yes.. Badgehunter.com or CoHtitan works good for badgetalk. Both the Badgehunter and badgewh... are the same place, just two links so you can access it from work without trouble
About player mods. That amount of control in a players hand, umm *bites my lip* why am I... scared now?
Better be only employee. I know we got a grown up playerbase but sometimes bad things happen anyway.
Best solution if the Devs are up for it... is another sub-forum (you know you want to Devs )
Failing this.. we always got "Player Questions".. hmm should every thread start with "Badge"-related or something close ;D
If not see you on badgehunter or cohtitan

Ok, fair enough, maybe not the player mods then
But I stand by what I say about these forums having a badge section. PvPers and RP don't have to wander off to find their own forums, why should badge collecters?

I quite agree Coin.. Badge section of the forum... yessss. Where questions can be asked, guides can be posted (assuming one dont already have them links bookmarked.. *cough*)
and so on...

Indeed, there's a lot can be discussed on it.
Guides to the sites, hints about best way to get the specific badges for damage, healing, etc, a way to set up teams to farmf or the annoying badges such as Toxid Tarants, where to go in a zone to find the villains you need for defeat badges.
Easily enough there for all us badge nuts

I just hope we DO get a new forum, I mean, for once I TOTALLY agree with FFM...
...this is getting rediculous!
The suggestion of a badge section was mostly because I am at the stage of collecting some of the less easy badges on Golden and there are times when it would be good to query something or see a guide on obtaining 'xxx' badge. I figured as there are a lot of badgers out there - some vastly experienced, some not so - it would be a good place to share knowledge.
